It was about half-past seven when these three appeared. They straight way demanded beer with a bravado that would have done credit to the three musketeers. Mrs. Mcintyre did not propose serving beer until later in the evening, but she filled up a glass apiece, as the easiest way to keep them within bounds, forbidding them to ask for more as she did so.
