I even "dabbled" for the first time into Christian books like Ministry of Healing and Medical Ministry. I perceived a common thread of world brotherhood and min expansion which could solve the tension I felt in my materialistic and technocratic surgical world. Perhaps the practice of surgery did hold more challenge than just another bypass operation which, I knew from experience, merely postponed death, but did little to change the cause of the underlying disease condition.

His vivid descriptions of his clients' afflictions and complaints illuminate the thoughts and feelings of ordinary people. This book goes beyond simply analysing mental disorder in a seventeenth-century astrological and medical practice.
