Book Medical Laboratory Methods and Tests Classic Reprint

Download or read book Medical Laboratory Methods and Tests Classic Reprint written by Herbert French and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-10-27 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Medical Laboratory Methods and Tests T his volume has been written in response to repeated complaints that there was no small book dealing with the chemical and microscopical tests and investigations which are most useful to medical men. The object has been to detail the commoner methods, pointing out the conclusions which may be drawn from the various tests, but laying stress upon the fallacies to which each is liable. The book deals, not with the examination of patients, but with that of fluids or sub stances obtained from them, and bedside methods have been excluded. It is intended to be a small handbook for the medical laboratory. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book A Manual of Clinical Laboratory Methods Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Manual of Clinical Laboratory Methods Classic Reprint written by Clyde Lottridge Cummer and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-10 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Manual of Clinical Laboratory Methods IN offering this manual for the use of students and practitioners, the object is to present clinical laboratory methods in concise and accessible form. While devoted largely to a description of methods, the underlying principles, the indications for performing tests and the significance of the results are outlined. Accordingly the plan adopted in most chapters has been as follows: (1) Outline of routine examina tions; (2) description of the simpler qualitative methods which are frequently employed; (3) description of quantitative methods or those of intricate technic; (4) discussion of findings in various morbid condi' tions. When several methods are given, usually the preferred one is indicated. Details are entered into more fully in some cases than in others. For example, the method of counting blood cells has been given meticulously, since it is elementary and its procedures are among the first which must be mastered by the student. It may seem that disproportionate attention has been given to certain subjects, such as the histology and pathology of the blood, but experience in teaching has shown this to be desirable. It is hoped that both the liberal use of cross references in the body of the text and the synoptic resumes of quantitative procedures in the chapters on Blood and Urine, will facilitate use of the book in the clinical laboratory. The bibliography, which will be found at the end of the text, contains references to original articles on the newer methods, and will prove helpful to readers desiring to consult the literature. The standard works to which reference is made, have been used freely. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Practical Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis

Download or read book Practical Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis written by Charles C. Bass and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Practical Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis: A Thoroughly Illustrated Laboratory Guide, Embodying the Interpretation of Laboratory, Findings, Designed for the Use of Students, and Practitioners of Medicine Several years of teaching Clinical Laboratory Diag nosis, making laboratory examinations and often interpret ing the findings, has forcibly impressed us with the need of such a book as this is intended to be. We take up only those laboratory examinations that are useful in ordinary, every-day practice and do not include tests that are seldom used or that are practical only for special laborato'ry workers. Our plan throughout the book is to give only one method of making a test or examination. We select what we con sider the best, simplest, most practical method of making each test and do not sacrifice space or clearness by giving several tests or methods for obtaining the same information. All apparatus employed are specified, usually illustrated, and when thought to be advantageous, a source of supply considered reliable is given. Reagents are all specified, the formulae given, and an economical and practical source of supply is stated when thought advantageous. This book was released on 2016-08-01 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Text-Book of Clinical Diagnosis by Laboratory Methods: For the Use of Use of Students, Practitioners, and Laboratory Workers This book has emanated from a desire to satisfy the demands made by my pupils, and it has been prepared to meet the present needs of the student and of the general practitioner. It is hoped that the volume may prove of practical value, although it does not attempt to furnish more than a working introduction to the department of medicine under discussion. It is, however, designed as a practical guide, and the methods de scribed are such as can be carried out with a minimum of com plicated apparatus. Special attention has been given to outlining in progressive steps the various procedures in clinical technic, such steps being illustrated whenever possible. Besides the detailed descriptions of methods of examination, the diagnostic significance of the clinical findings is given under special headings and is ire quently accompanied by tables of differentiation. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Laboratory Methods: With Special Reference to the Needs of the General Practitioner It is the aim of the authors to keep this little volume true to name and purpose. This cannot be realized if extensive alterations are made in each edition. The simple methods suggested have been used for many years and have proven a right to a permanent place. We are not justified in substituting newer methods until they prove themselves superior to the older ones. Some procedures have been added to the text, but we have pre ferred to place the majority of these in the appendix rather than disturb the simplicity of the text. Among the chief of these are Elastic Tissue Staining, salting-out Method for Tubercle Bacilli, A Simple Gram Stain, An Invariable Blood Stain, A Dressing for Laboratory Tables, and a number of other notes. Since making the second revision, a thousand and one laboratory innovations have appeared in literature. Many have been tried out and abandoned, others must be tested more thoroughly before being included in texts, still others are too difficult to find a place in a book designed for the practitioner and a great many are not worth trying out. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Clinical Laboratory Technic for Nurses This book owes its existence to the frequent request on the part of graduate nurses, whom it has been my pleasure to instruct in laboratory technic during the past three years, for a simple, comprehensive text-book, that the nurses might be able to grasp the principles of clinical laboratory technic. The book was originally compiled as a handbook for practical clinical laboratory work, since no single text book covered the work. The arrangement of the several chapters has worked itself out from a series of lessons which give simple and reliable methods. By these methods information may be Obtained without unnecessary detail which requires a considerable knowledge of general chemistry and elab orate apparatus. Book A Manual of Clinical Diagnosis by Means of Laboratory Methods for Students Hospital Physicians and Practitioners Classic Reprint

This book was released on 2017-11-10 with total page 914 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Manual of Clinical Diagnosis by Means of Laboratory Methods for Students, Hospital Physicians and Practitioners The division of the subject matter into two parts - the first dealing with technical questions and the second with the collective presenta tion of the laboratory findings in the various diseases under their corresponding headings, which was first introduced in the seventh edition, and which the profession has found so advantageous - has been followed also in the preparation of the present edition. In the department of Clinical Pathology at the University of Maryland and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Baltimore the student during his third year is instructed especially in the technical side of the work, while in his fourth year, which is spent partly in the wards and partly in the laboratory, he is taught how to interpret the various laboratory findings. This division of the work the author would recommend to other teachers of the subject also, and he trusts that in presenting the subject matter to their students in this manner they may find the volume as useful as it was the writer's intention to make it.
