Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Oata Analysis and Synthesis (CINOAS) * at Purdue. University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 33 (thesis year 1988) a total of 13,273 theses titles from 23 Canadian and 1 85 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 33 reports theses submitted in 1988, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Studies of Nanoconstrictions Nanowires and Fe3O4 Thin Films

Download or read book Studies of Nanoconstrictions Nanowires and Fe3O4 Thin Films written by Amalio Fernandez-Pacheco and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-01-22 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work constitutes a detailed study of electrical and magnetic properties in nanometric materials with a range of scales: atomic-sized nanoconstrictions, micro- and nanowires and thin films. Firstly, a novel method of fabricating atomic-sized constrictions in metals is presented; it relies on measuring the conduction of the device while a focused-ion-beam etching process is in progress.

Book Silicon Sensors and Actuators

Download or read book Silicon Sensors and Actuators written by Benedetto Vigna and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-12 with total page 988 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book thoroughly reviews the present knowledge on silicon micromechanical transducers and addresses emerging and future technology challenges. Readers will acquire a solid theoretical and practical background that will allow them to analyze the key performance aspects of devices, critically judge a fabrication process, and then conceive and design new ones for future applications. Envisioning a future complex versatile microsystem, the authors take inspiration from Richard Feynman’s visionary talk “There is Plenty of Room at the Bottom” to propose that the time has come to see silicon sensors as part of a “Feynman Roadmap” instead of the “More-than-Moore” technology roadmap. The sharing of the author’s industrially proven track record of development, design, and manufacturing, along with their visionary approach to the technology, will allow readers to jump ahead in their understanding of the core of the topic in a very effective way. Students, researchers, engineers, and technologists involved in silicon-based sensor and actuator research and development will find a wealth of useful and groundbreaking information in this book.

Book Electrocrystallization of Thin Films

Download or read book Electrocrystallization of Thin Films written by Archana Mallik and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-10 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thins films are deposited on bulk materials to attain properties which are superior to the parent substrates and can replace it when the latter fail to meet an application requirement. In order to obtain thin films with desired structure and stoichiometry, it is very important to study the formation mechanism and kinetics, deposition structure and properties in a detailed manner and then be able to predict the optimal conditions for a particular deposition technique. Film synthesis occurs by a process of nucleation and growth and may get tuned with operating conditions. This book projects on the phase formation mechanism of electrochemical synthesis of Cu thin films. The mechanisms related to the initial stages of the nucleation and growth of Cu thin films on the rough face side of graphite have been studied as a function of temperature, Cu concentration and acid concentration. Hence, a detailed exploration of the classical science of phase formation with varying deposition parameters may lead surface engineers towards a technology revolution.
