Book Finite Element Modelling of Shot Peening and Strengthening Mechanism Analysis

Download or read book Finite Element Modelling of Shot Peening and Strengthening Mechanism Analysis written by Cheng Wang and published by Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA. This book was released on 2023-08-25 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The service performance and life of metal parts are closely related to the surface integrity of materials. Shot peening (SP) is a well-known surface strengthening technique and is widely used for the improvement of the component surface integrity in industrial fields, such as aerospace, vehicle, construction machinery and etc. With the rapid development of science and technology, numerous new SP techniques have been developed from the conventional mechanical shot peening, such as the laser shock peening (LSP), ultrasonic shot peening (USP),surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) and etc. Different from the other mechanical processing techniques, a considerable number of process parameters have an influence on the surface strengthening effects of shot-peened metal parts. Therefore, the selection of the SP process parameters with respect to the different metal parts has always been a challenge. With the rapid development of the computer technology, the numerical simulation has increasingly attracted the more and more attentions both from the academy and the industry. Compared to the experimental investigations, the numerical simulations are not only timesaving and economical, but also can provide an insight into the surface strengthening mechanisms of SP.

Book Mechanism Design and Analysis Using PTC Creo Mechanism 7 0

Download or read book Mechanism Design and Analysis Using PTC Creo Mechanism 7 0 written by Kuang-Hua Chang and published by SDC Publications. This book was released on 2020-07 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanism Design and Analysis Using PTC Creo Mechanism 7.0 is designed to help you become familiar with Mechanism, a module of the PTC Creo Parametric software family, which supports modeling and analysis (or simulation) of mechanisms in a virtual (computer) environment. Capabilities in Mechanism allow users to simulate and visualize mechanism performance. Using Mechanism early in the product development stage could prevent costly redesign due to design defects found in the physical testing phase; therefore, it contributes to a more cost effective, reliable, and efficient product development process. The book is written following a project-based learning approach and covers the major concepts and frequently used commands required to advance readers from a novice to an intermediate level. Basic concepts discussed include model creation, such as body and joint definitions; analysis type selection, such as static (assembly) analysis, kinematics and dynamics; and results visualization. The concepts are introduced using simple, yet realistic, examples. Verifying the results obtained from computer simulation is extremely important. One of the unique features of this textbook is the incorporation of theoretical discussions for kinematic and dynamic analyses in conjunction with simulation results obtained using Mechanism. The theoretical discussions simply support the verification of simulation results rather than providing an in-depth discussion on the subjects of kinematics and dynamics.

Book Establishing a Mechanism Based Framework for the Corpus Informed Analysis of Multi Word Discourse Markers

Download or read book Establishing a Mechanism Based Framework for the Corpus Informed Analysis of Multi Word Discourse Markers written by Jan-Friso Heeren and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-10-11 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book establishes and applies a linguistic framework for the synchronic and diachronic analysis of multi-word discourse markers (MWDMs). The aim of this study is to examine in detail how MWDMs have developed out of their polysemous lexical counterparts. First, this study critically evaluates existing Grammaticalization and Pragmaticalization theories addressing both their strengths and drawbacks. In the following, a revised Pragmaticalization approach is developed. Considering three linguistic dimensions, this approach consists of six mechanisms: Discursivization & Scope Extension (semantic dimension), Syntactic Isolation & Acategorialization (syntactic dimension) and Consistency & Prosodic Accentuation (phonological dimension). Using data from the Oxford Etymological Dictionary and the TV Corpus, the study then applies these mechanisms to the MWDMs by the way, all the same and what is more. Providing a detailed corpus-informed analysis of these units, this book demonstrates the advantages of the suggested framework and consequently offers an innovative contribution to the field of linguistics.

Book Design and Analysis of Mechanisms

Download or read book Design and Analysis of Mechanisms written by Michael J. Rider and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-05-12 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A planar or two-dimensional (2D) mechanism is the combination of two or more machine elements that are designed to convey a force or motion across parallel planes. Mechanical components and complex machines, such as engines or robots, are often designed and conceptualised in 2D before being extended into 3D. Designed to encourage a clear understanding of the nature and design of planar mechanisms, this book favours a frank and straightforward approach to teaching the basics of planar mechanism design and the theory of machines with fully worked examples throughout. Key Features: Provides simple instruction in the design and analysis of planar mechanisms, enabling the student to easily navigate the text and find the desired material Covers topics of fundamental importance to mechanical engineering, from planar mechanism kinematics, 2D linkage analyses and 2D linkage design to the fundamentals of spur gears and cam design Shows numerous example solutions using EES (Engineering Equation Solver) and MATLAB software, with appendices dedicated to explaining the use of both computer tools Follows end-of-chapter problems with clearly detailed solutions

Book Motion Simulation and Mechanism Design with SolidWorks Motion 2009

Download or read book Motion Simulation and Mechanism Design with SolidWorks Motion 2009 written by Kuang-Hua Chang and published by SDC Publications. This book was released on 2009-03 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motion Simulation and Mechanism Design with SolidWorks Motion 2009 is written to help you become familiar with SolidWorks Motion, an add-on module of the SolidWorks software family. This book covers the basic concepts and frequently used commands required to advance readers from a novice to intermediate level in using SolidWorks Motion. Using SolidWorks Motion early in the product development stage could prevent costly redesign due to design defects found in the physical testing phase. Therefore, using SolidWorks Motion contributes to a more cost effective, reliable, and efficient product design process. Basic concepts discussed in this book include model generation, such as creating assembly mates for proper motion; carrying out simulation and animation; and visualizing simulation results, such as graphs and spreadsheet data. These concepts are introduced using simple, yet realistic examples. Verifying the results obtained from the computer simulation is extremely important. One of the unique features of this book is the incorporation of theoretical discussions for kinematic and dynamic analyses in conjunction with the simulation results obtained using SolidWorks Motion. Verifying the simulation results will increase your confidence in using the software and prevent you from being fooled by erroneous simulations.

Book Introduction to Mechanism Design

Download or read book Introduction to Mechanism Design written by Eric Constans and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-07-20 with total page 760 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Mechanism Design: with Computer Applications provides an updated approach to undergraduate Mechanism Design and Kinematics courses/modules for engineering students. The use of web-based simulations, solid modeling, and software such as MATLAB and Excel is employed to link the design process with the latest software tools for the design and analysis of mechanisms and machines. While a mechanical engineer might brainstorm with a pencil and sketch pad, the final result is developed and communicated through CAD and computational visualizations. This modern approach to mechanical design processes has not been fully integrated in most books, as it is in this new text.
