Book excerpt: HAVE YOU EVER SAID ANY OF THESE THINGS? - I don't know how to determine what's wrong with my appliance... - I don't know where to find the right parts I need for the repair... - I don't want to have to buy a new washer, dryer, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher... - I don't want to pay $100 just to get a technician to show up at my door and then hundreds more for the repair... If you can relate to any of that, then this book is going to be life-changing for you. WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN TO ME? Many years ago, my dryer died. I was on a shoestring budget and my wife really needed our gas dryer to work. I could not afford to get it fixed or to buy a new one, so I decided to try to fix it myself. I was able to find out that the igniter was bad, and it was really easy to replace. I was able to fix the problem in about an hour and the part only cost about $15. Since then I have learned how to fix all of my own appliances, I have 2 years college in electrical engineering, 31 years experience in the military and with major companies in the field of electronics and computers, and for the past 8 years. I have had my own appliance repair business and now I get to share my secrets to help you learn to fix your own appliances. Many DIY appliance owners are well able to repair their appliances. They have the basic mechanical skills and the basic tools they need but they lack the knowledge of how to go about doing it. Knowledge is Power. I will help you find that knowledge and apply that power to be able to repair your own appliances. Lenny Duval is a graduate of numerous military electronics schools in both the USAF and the Navy. He graduated at the top of his classes for UHF and VHF communications equipment, Radar, Navigation, and Cryptographic equipment. He has a Bachelor of Theology degree and studied Electrical Engineering at LSU for 2 years. Lenny worked in the Electronics industry in Silicon Valley for many years as a technician and a supervisor and started his own computer company in 1976. He has managed his own Appliance Repair Business since 2013.

Book Mechanics of the Household

Download or read book Mechanics of the Household written by E. S. Keene and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-24 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Mechanics of the Household: A Course of Study Devoted to Domestic Machinery and Household Mechanical Appliances This book is intended to be a presentation of the physical principles and mechanism employed in the equipment that has been developed for domestic convenience. Its aim is to provide information relative to the general practice of domestic engi neering. The scope of the work is such as to present: first, the use of household mechanical appliances; second, the principles involved and the mechanism employed. It is not exhaustive, neither does it touch many of the secondary topics that might be discussed in connection with the various subjects. It does, however, describe at least one representative piece of each type of household apparatus that is used in good practice. Book Popular Mechanics When Duct Tape Just Isn t Enough

Download or read book Popular Mechanics When Duct Tape Just Isn t Enough written by C. J. Petersen and published by Sterling Publishing Company. This book was released on 2007 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Popular Mechanics knows: there are two types of people in the world--those able to fix whatever goes bust, and those who beg the first group for help when something goes wrong. But it doesn’t have to be that way, because this easy-to-follow guide will give anyone the basics to tackle those frustrating (and sometimes nerve-wracking) quandaries that crop up around the house: plumbing problems, electrical snafus, appliance failures, computer and electronics breakdowns, pest infestations, and furniture in need of renewal. They range from the serious to the merely annoying, but every one is cause for concern. So, whether the issue is a fast repair for a running toilet or a leaking pipe, or a simple, inexpensive way to keep deer from pillaging the garden, it’s all in here.

Book Tribology and Mechanics of Magnetic Storage Devices

Download or read book Tribology and Mechanics of Magnetic Storage Devices written by Bharat Bhushan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since January 1990, when the first edition ofthis first-of-a-kind book appeared, there has been much experimental and theoretical progress in the multi disciplinary subject of tribology and mechanics of magnetic storage devices. The subject has matured into a rigorous discipline, and many university tribology and mechanics courses now routinely contain material on magnetic storage devices. The major growth in the subject has been on the micro- and nanoscale aspects of tribology and mechanics. Today, most large magnetic storage industries use atomic force microscopes to image the magnetic storage components. Many companies use variations of AFMs such as friction force microscopes (FFMs) for frictional studies. These instruments have also been used for studying scratch, wear, and indentation. These studies are valuable in the fundamental understanding of interfacial phenomena. In the second edition, I have added a new chapter, Chapter 11, on micro and nanoscale aspects of tribology and mechanics of magnetic storage compo nents. This chapter presents the state of the art of the micro/nanotribology and micro/nanomechanics of magnetic storage components. In addition, typographical errors in Chapters 1 to 10 and the appendixes have been corrected. These additions update this book and make it more valuable to researchers of the subject. I am grateful to many colleagues and particularly to my students, whose work is reported in Chapter 11. I thank my wife, Sudha, who has been forbearing during the progress of the research reported in this chapter.

Book Quantum Mechanics of Charged Particle Beam Optics Understanding Devices from Electron Microscopes to Particle Accelerators

Download or read book Quantum Mechanics of Charged Particle Beam Optics Understanding Devices from Electron Microscopes to Particle Accelerators written by Ramaswamy Jagannathan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-05-20 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classical Charged Particle Beam Optics used in the design and operation of all present-day charged particle beam devices, from low energy electron microscopes to high energy particle accelerators, is entirely based on classical mechanics. A question of curiosity is: How is classical charged particle beam optics so successful in practice though the particles of the beam, like electrons, are quantum mechanical? Quantum Mechanics of Charged Particle Beam Optics answers this question with a comprehensive formulation of ‘Quantum Charged Particle Beam Optics’ applicable to any charged particle beam device.

Book Industrial Machinery Repair

Download or read book Industrial Machinery Repair written by Ricky Smith and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-08-18 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial Machinery Repair provides a practical reference for practicing plant engineers, maintenance supervisors, physical plant supervisors and mechanical maintenance technicians. It focuses on the skills needed to select, install and maintain electro-mechanical equipment in a typical industrial plant or facility. The authors focuses on "Best Maintenance Repair Practices" necessary for maintenance personnel to keep equipment operating at peak reliability and companies functioning more profitably through reduced maintenance costs and increased productivity and capacity. A number of surveys conducted in industries throughout the United States have found that 70% of equipment failures are self-induced. If the principles and techniques in this book are followed, it will result in a serious reduction in "self induced failures". In the pocketbook format, this reference material can be directly used on the plant floor to aid in effectively performing day-to-day duties. Data is presented in a concise, easily understandable format to facilitate use in the adverse conditions associated with the plant floor. Each subject is reduced to it simplest terms so that it will be suitable for the broadest range of users. Since this book is not specific to any one type of industrial plant and is useful in any type of facility. - The new standard reference book for industrial and mechanical trades - Accessible pocketbook format facilitates on-the-job use - Suitable for all types of plant facilities
