Book Measuring the Flow of Gases Classic Reprint

Download or read book Measuring the Flow of Gases Classic Reprint written by Thomas Gemmill Estep and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Measuring the Flow of Gases The problem of measuring and recording the volume of gases flow ing in pipes and ducts is one that is engaging the attention of engineers more and more every day. In the various industries where gas is used or produced, such as steel plants, producer plants, chemical factories, mines, etc., the manage ment realizes that accurate information concerning the volume of gas used or produced is not only exceedingly valuable in checking operation but in many cases absolutely necessary. The greatest difficulty with volumetric measurement of gases is that the laws governing the flow of elastic fluids are not generally under stood by many engineers and when they are understood, the calcula tions involved are so long and tedious that they are discouraging, The object of this pamphlet is to present to those interested, a few of the fundamental principles of the flow of elastic fluids, to facilitate the calculations by means of curves, to show and explain several of the most approved methods of making volumetric measurements and to point out the precautions that must be taken to insure accurate results. Book The Measurement of Air Flow

Download or read book The Measurement of Air Flow written by E. Ower and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-09 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Measurement of Air Flow: 5th Edition (in SI Units) deals primarily with the measurement (expressed in SI units) of the speed of air in motion relative to solid boundaries or surfaces. The methods described apply not only to air flow but also to the flow of other gases with little, if any, modification, except as regards the numerical values of the various physical properties occurring in the equations. Furthermore, much of the theory applies to the flow of both liquids and gases. Comprised of 13 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the general principles of the pressure-tube anemometer used in measuring pressure difference from which the speed of flow can be deduced. The reader is then introduced to the characteristics of pitot and static tubes in incompressible flow; pitot and static observations in compressible flow; and the flow of air in pipes of circular cross-section. Subsequent chapters focus on the measurement of incompressible flow in pipes by pitot and static traverse methods; methods of flow measurement based upon the rates of cooling of hot bodies; and the measurement of pulsating flow. This book is intended for students and engineers and for other practitioners concerned with the measurement of the speed of air flow.

Book Measuring Techniques in Gas Liquid Two Phase Flows

Download or read book Measuring Techniques in Gas Liquid Two Phase Flows written by J.M. Delhaye and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 756 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A IUTAM symposium on "Measuring Techniques in Gas-Liquid Two Phase Flows" was held on July 5-8, 1983 in Nancy, France. This topic in cluded instrumentation for steam-water and liquid-vapor flows but strictly excluded measuring techniques for gas or liquid flows with solid particles. The top priority in the paper selection was given to presentations of new methods which had been substantiated by theoretical modeling, calibration tests and comparison tests with other techniques. Examples of experimental resul ts obtained with the proposed instrumentation had to be displayed. However the interpretation of these results in terms of two-phase flow or heat transfer modeling did not fall wi thin the scope of the meeting. Thirty four papers were presented during the Symposium and 79 participants coming from Canada, European countries, Japan and the United States attended the sessions. They represented not only Universities but also state agencies and private companies. After the meeting each paper was peer-reviewed by at least three referees. Book A Method of Measuring the Flow Rate of Liquids and Gases and a Device for Exploiting the Method

Download or read book A Method of Measuring the Flow Rate of Liquids and Gases and a Device for Exploiting the Method written by A. Sh Kiyasbeili and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proposed method offers the possibility of measuring the weight consumption of a liquid or gas by means of measuring with a computing device the ratio of the drop in the pressure occurring on the pickup of an acoustic flowmeter and converted into an electric signal, to an electric signal from the acoustic flow meter. The flow converter of the pressure is connected in parallel to the acoustic flow meter; the measuring element of the flow converter is connected to one input of the computing device the other input of which is connected with the converter of the acoustic flow meter.

Book Flow and Measurement of Air and Gases Classic Reprint

Download or read book Flow and Measurement of Air and Gases Classic Reprint written by Alec B. Eason and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-07-07 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Flow and Measurement of Air and Gases For those who are ready to accept any formula without caring how it is arrived at or what values of the constants are included, this book will not perhaps be of much interest, as it is largely concerned with those very points. But for those who want to know upon what foundations graphs and formulae are based it should be of value. As regards subject-matter Chapters II. And III. Deal with the flow in pipes; Chapters IV. To VII. Deal chiefly with pneumatic tube problems Chapters VIII. To X. Deal with the measurement of air and gas, about which little information is given in books on air compressors, and include a description of the recent development of hot-wire anemometers Chapters XI. To XIV. Deal shortly with some subsidiary questions relating to air flow. Some of the graphs are plotted on logarithmically ruled paper, which deserves to be much better known in this country. A few abaci are included, these being a very convenient form of graphical chart. The metric symbols cm, kg, m are printed without a full stop, as is customary in French and German journals. The numbering of figures, equations, and tables is done consecutively for each chapter, not for the book as a whole. Use is made of the to differentiate between the chapter number and figure number, viz. 31, etc. I shall be glad if attention is drawn to any mistakes and errors which may have crept into the formulae and tables in this connection it may be stated that the constants in the formulae have only been calculated upon a slide rule and may be 5 per cent. Out. Such inaccuracy is immaterial in ordinary air and gas work, as the varying conditions of the atmosphere cause the specific volume of air to vary much more than 5 per cent. From day to day, or even from hour to hour. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Fundamentals of Gas Particle Flow

Download or read book Fundamentals of Gas Particle Flow written by G Rudinger and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Gas-Particle Flow is an edited, updated, and expanded version of a number of lectures presented on the “Gas-Solid Suspensions course organized by the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics. Materials presented in this book are mostly analytical in nature, but some experimental techniques are included. The book focuses on relaxation processes, including the viscous drag of single particles, drag in gas-particles flow, gas-particle heat transfer, equilibrium, and frozen flow. It also discusses the dynamics of single particles, such as particles in an arbitrary flow, in a rotating gas, in a Prandtl-Meyer expansion, and in an oscillating flow. The remaining chapters of the book deal with the thermodynamics of gas-particle mixtures, steady flow through ducts, pressure waves, gas-particle jets, boundary layer, and momentum transfer. The experimental techniques included in this book present the powder feeders, the instrumentation on particle flow rate, velocity, concentration and temperature, and the measurement of the particle drag coefficient in a shock tube.
