This becomes apparent once individuals reach the age of majority and responsible for their educational rights. One of the most challenging life changes for special needs students is the transition from high school to adulthood, especially the time following high school graduation. School districts must provide these students with a formal offering of transition services to be compliant with special education law. This study investigated the effectiveness of a Vocational Transition Program (VTP) offered by large school district in Central California on participants' job attainment and job retention after graduation. The participants included 85 eligible graduates during the 2008-2012 school years that were offered enrollment in the district's VTP. The participants were sent surveys inquiring about VTP enrollment choice and employment history.
