Book Can We Distinguish an MSSM Higgs from a SM Higgs at a Linear Collider

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors study the prospects for distinguishing the CP-even Higgs boson of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) from the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson by measuring its branching ratios at an e[sup+]e[sup[minus]] linear collider. The regions of the M[sub A] - tan[beta] plane in which an MSSM Higgs boson can be distinguished from the SM Higgs boson depend strongly upon the supersymmetric parameters that enter the radiative corrections to the Higgs mass matrix and the Higgs couplings to fermions. In some regions of parameter space it is possible to extract the supersymmetric correction to the relation between the b quark mass and its Yukawa coupling from Higgs branching ratio measurements.

Book Measurement of Higgs Boson Branching Fractions

Download or read book Measurement of Higgs Boson Branching Fractions written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We describe methods one can employ at a [radical]s = 500 GeV e[sup +]e[sup [minus]] linear collider to measure the branching fractions of a Higgs boson. These methods select one Higgs decay mode above all others with high purity, leaving measureable Standard Model backgrounds as the only source of contamination. Integrated luminosities of 50fb[sup [minus]1] are required to obtain statistical errors of 10--20% on the branching fractions to b[bar b], [tau][sup +][tau][sup [minus]], and WW(*). For an intermediate mass Higgs this is sufficient to distinguish the MSSM from the Standard Model Higgs over most of the Supersymmetric parameter space.

Book Measuring the Higgs Boson s Parity Using Tau Rho Nu

Download or read book Measuring the Higgs Boson s Parity Using Tau Rho Nu written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a very promising method for a measurement of the Higgs boson parity using the H/A[yields][tau][sup+][tau][sup -][yields][rho][sup+][bar[nu]][sub[tau]][rho][sup -][nu][sub[tau]][yields][pi][sup+][pi][sup 0][bar[nu]][sub[tau]][pi][sup -][pi][sup 0][nu][sub[tau]] decay chain. The method is both model independent and independent of the Higgs production mechanism. Angular distributions of the[tau] decay products which are sensitive to the Higgs boson parity are defined and are found to be measurable using typical properties of a future detector for an e[sup+]e[sup -] linear collider. The prospects for the measurement of the parity of a Higgs boson with a mass of 120 GeV are quantified for the case of e[sup+]e[sup -] collisions of 500 GeV center of mass energy with an integrated luminosity of 500fb[sup -1]. The Standard Model Higgsstrahlung production process is used as an example.

Book The Higgs Working Group

Download or read book The Higgs Working Group written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This working group has investigated Higgs boson searches at the Tevatron and the LHC. Once Higgs bosons are found their properties have to be determined. The prospects of Higgs coupling measurements at the LHC and a high-energy linear ee− collider are discussed in detail within the Standard Model and its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM). Recent improvements in the theoretical knowledge of the signal and background processes are presented and taken into account. The residual uncertainties are analyzed in detail. Theoretical progress is discussed in particular for the gluon-fusion processes gg 2!H(+j), Higgs-bremsstrahlung off bottom quarks and the weak vector-boson-fusion (VBF) processes. Following the list of open questions of the last Les Houches workshop in 2001 several background processes have been calculated at next-to-leading order, resulting in a significant reduction of the theoretical uncertainties. Further improvements have been achieved for the Higgs sectors of the MSSM and NMSSM. This report summarizes our work performed before and after the workshop in Les Houches. Part A describes the theoretical developments for signal and background processes. Part B presents recent progress in Higgs boson searches at the Tevatron collider. Part C addresses the determination of Higgs boson couplings, part D the measurement of tan [beta] and part E Higgs boson searches in the VBF processes at the LHC. Part F summarizes Higgs searches in supersymmetric Higgs decays, part G photonic Higgs decays in Higgs-strahlung processes at the LHC, while part H concentrates on MSSM Higgs bosons in the intense-coupling regime at the LHC. Part I presents progress in charged Higgs studies and part J the Higgs discovery potential in the NMSSM at the LHC. The last part K describes Higgs coupling measurements at a 1 TeV linear e+e− collider.
