Book Estimated Viscosities and Thermal Conductivities of Gases at High Temperatures

Download or read book Estimated Viscosities and Thermal Conductivities of Gases at High Temperatures written by Roger A. Svehla and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Viscosities and thermal conductivities, suitable for heat-transfer calculations, were estimated for about 200 gases in the ground state from 100° to 5000° K and 1-atm pressure. Free radicals were included, but excited states and ions were not. Calculations for the transport coefficients were based upon the Lennard-Jones (12-6) potential for all gases. Intermolecular force constants for this potential were obtained from experimental viscosity data or were estimated when data were not available. The same set of constants was used to calculate both viscosity and conductivity. An Eucken-type correction for exchange between internal and translational energies was made for thermal conductivities of polyatomic gases.

Book An Investigation of Aircraft Heaters

Download or read book An Investigation of Aircraft Heaters written by Llewellyn Michael Kraus Boelter and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By means of a hot-wire method, the thermal conductivity of air was measured from air temperatures of 50 degrees to 99 degrees F and the thermal conductivity of gasoline-engine exhauset gases were measured from gas temperatures of 250 degrees to 900 degrees F. The values obtained for air are in good agreement with other data that are available. The values of exhaust gases from an engine operating on fuel-air ratios between 0.056 to 0.085 are practically the same as those for air at the same temperature, but the richer mixtures (fuel-air ratios of 0.10 to 0.15) show increasingly larger values of thermal conductivity, the largest being approximately 30 percent greater than that of air. The thermal conductivity data obtained are shown in graphs at the end of this report.

Book Handbook of Thermal Conductivity of Liquids and Gases

Download or read book Handbook of Thermal Conductivity of Liquids and Gases written by Natan B. Vargaftik and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-11-26 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Thermal Conductivity of Liquids and Gases covers practically all of the data available on the thermalconductivity of pure liquids and gases. Thermal conductivity data included in the book is based on original experimental measurements and correlations recommended or adopted as a standard by the National Standard Reference Data Service of the Russian Federation. New tabulations of thermal conductivity data on high-molecular organic fluids and the alkali metals in both liquid and gaseous states are featured as well. This book will be an important reference for all researchers working in thermodynamics.

Book excerpt: The report represents a systematized and critical survey of the basic experimental data for the most widely studied substances in liquid and gaseous states (for helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, air, carbon dioxide, ammonia, ten hydrocarbons, carbon tetrachloride, ethyl alcohol and water). Tables of the most reliable values of the thermal conductivity of all the cited substances in a wide range of temperatures and pressures have been compiled. (Author).
