Book Measurements and Analysis of Solid propellant rocket Vibrations Obtained During a Captive Flight

Download or read book Measurements and Analysis of Solid propellant rocket Vibrations Obtained During a Captive Flight written by James A. Schoenster and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As part of an overall program to investigate the vibrational environment of small solid-propellant rockets, a captive test firing of a Nike rocket with a boilerplate payload was conducted in a unique test stand which, while restraining the total vehicle displacement, allowed substantial freedom for the test vehicle to vibrate. Measurements were obtained of the vibratory accelerations, pressures in the rocket case, rocket-case strains, and total vehicle displacement and data are presented. A discussion of the analytical procedures used to interpret random phenomena is presented.

Book Payload Vibration Data Measured During Five Flights of a Two stage Solid propellant Launch Vehicle

Download or read book Payload Vibration Data Measured During Five Flights of a Two stage Solid propellant Launch Vehicle written by Sherman A. Clevenson and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: F LIGHT VIBRATION DATA W R OB AINED FROM FIVE VERTICAL ES SHOTS OF Shotput, the lau ch vehicle for v r ical t ts of t e 100-foot infl tabl sp er . T e t o-st ge vehicle consisted of a Pollux an two Recruit rocket motor as the first stage and an ABL X-248 rocket motor as e seco stage. High vibr tion levels w re obtained near bur out of the secon stag of Shotput I, II, and V, hereas only low vibration level were noted on Shotput III and IV. The peak flight vibration levels on Shotput I, II, and V occurred in the longitudinal direction at a frequency of about 570 cps and were about 40g, 45g, and 24g, respectively. The flight vibration levels in t normal and ransverse dir ctions were cons erably le than those in t e longitu inal direction. (Author).

Book Comparison of Vibrations of a Combination of Solid rocket Launch Vehicle and Payload During a Ground Firing and Launching

Download or read book Comparison of Vibrations of a Combination of Solid rocket Launch Vehicle and Payload During a Ground Firing and Launching written by James A. Schoenster and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of a study into the environmental vibrations of a payload mounted on the Nike rocket launch vehicle were presented. Data were obtained during the flight acceptance test of the payload, the firing of the total vehicle in a special test stand, and the powered and unpowered flights of the vehicle. The vibrational response of the structure was measured. Data were also obtained on the fluctuating pressure on the outside surface of the vehicle and inside the forward and after ends of the rocket chamber. A comparison of the data from the three test conditions indicated that external pressure fluctuations were the major source of vibrations in the payload area, and pressure fluctuations within the rocket motor were the major source of vibrations contiguous to the payload area.

Book Effects of Experimentally Measured Pressure Oscillations on the Vibration of a Solid Rocket Motor

Download or read book Effects of Experimentally Measured Pressure Oscillations on the Vibration of a Solid Rocket Motor written by James A. Schoenster and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results are presented of firing a Nike rocket against a backstop for the purpose of obtaining pressure fluctuations in the rocket case and determining their relationship to structural vibrations of the case. Special care was required to obtain these pressure fluctuations because of the much higher static pressure generated in the rocket. Very small pressure fluctuations within the rocket case can cause significant vibration levels. A previously observed high frequency was shown to decrease with time before completely disappearing at about 1 second of burning time. The vibration of the case itself is probably related to the longitudinal structural modes at frequencies below 500 Hz and is dependent on local structural conditions at frequencies above this value.

Book Test Fixture Effects in Vibration Tests of Rocket Motors

Download or read book Test Fixture Effects in Vibration Tests of Rocket Motors written by C. J. Welsh and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis was made of acceleration response measurements of solid-propellant rocket motors in vibration testing at the Arnold Engineering Development Center. In this type of testing, an electrodynamic shaker is utilized to provide the desired oscillatory driving force, and a test fixture is required to adapt the motor to the shaker. Although a test fixture can contribute adverse effects on the rocket motor motions for some conditions in vibration testing, the results of the analysis indicate that large undesirable rocket motor acceleration responses may be measured and invalidly attributed to the test fixture used. Book Measured and Predicted Longitudinal Vibrations of a Liquid Propellant Two stage Launch Vehicle

Download or read book Measured and Predicted Longitudinal Vibrations of a Liquid Propellant Two stage Launch Vehicle written by Robert R. Clary and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental and analytical program was conducted to investigate the longitudinal vibration properties of a two-stage full-scale launch vehicle loaded with various amounts of simulated propellants. A two-dimensional finite-element mathematical model formulated from vehicle physical parameters and experimental results was the basis for free-and forced-vibration analyses. Good agreement was obtained between the measured and predicted responses. Vector-response plots enhanced the interpretation of experimental and forced-vibration analytical results. Proper identification and correlation of the modes required a knowledge of the accelerations along the length of the vehicle, accelerations of specific components such as the engines and the turbopump, and pressures at the top and bottom of the propellant tanks.
