Download or read book Cross Section Measurement of the Process gamma Gamma p Pbar in Untagged Events at sqrt s written by Teresa Barillari and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Quasi free Cross Section Measurements at CLAS

Download or read book Quasi free Cross Section Measurements at CLAS written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preliminary measurements of the quasi-free differential cross sections of the gD -->pp-(p), gD --> K*(892)0L(p), and gD --> K+S*(1385)-(p) reactions are shown using data from the Jefferson Lab Hall B CLAS g13 experiment. No experimental cross section data have yet been published on gD --> K*(892)0L(p), and the only published cross section data on gD --> K+S*(1385)-(p) are at forward angles, where t-channel K+ and K*+ exchanges are predicted to dominate. These data can be used to contribute to the search for the "missing" N* resonances, some of which are predicted to have non-negligible couplings to the excited strangeness channels. These cross sections are shown to be sizable compared to the ground-state channels, indicating that it is important to include excited channels in coupled-channels analyses used to extract the N* resonances. In addition, the gD --> pp-(p) data provide a significant increase to the world statistics, and will be used to study rescattering effects within the deuteron.

Book Measurement of the Z Gamma Nu Anti nu Gamma Cross Section and Limits on Anomalous Z Z Gamma and Z Gamma Gamma Couplings in P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2

Download or read book Measurement of the Z Gamma Nu Anti nu Gamma Cross Section and Limits on Anomalous Z Z Gamma and Z Gamma Gamma Couplings in P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2 written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present the first observation of the Z[gamma] →[nu]{bar [nu]}[gamma] process at the Tevatron at 5.1 standard deviations significance, based on 3.6 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p{bar p} Collider at √s = 1.96 TeV. The measured Z[gamma] cross section multiplied by the branching fraction of Z → {nu}{bar {nu}} is 32 ± 9(stat. + syst.) ± 2(lumi.) fb for the photon E{sub T} > 90 GeV. It is in agreement with the standard model prediction of 39 ± 4 fb. We set the most restrictive limits on anomalous trilinear Z[gamma][gamma] and ZZ[gamma] gauge boson couplings at a hadron collider to date, with three constraints being the world's strongest.

Book Measurement of Gamma C X and Gamma B X Production Cross Sections at S 1 2

Download or read book Measurement of Gamma C X and Gamma B X Production Cross Sections at S 1 2 written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The photon plus heavy-flavour quark (b, c) final state provides a unique and valuable window into both the sea quark content of the proton and the splitting of gluons into heavy-flavour quark pairs. A new combination of experimental techniques has provided the basis for the first measurements of the differential [gamma] + c + X and [gamma] + b + X production cross sections at √s = 1.96 TeV. The measurements use ≈ 1 fb−1 of data from p{bar p} collisions collected with the D0 detector.

Book Measurement of the T Anti t Production Cross Section in P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2

Download or read book Measurement of the T Anti t Production Cross Section in P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2 written by Salvatore Rocco Rappoccio and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present the measurement of the t{bar t} cross section in the lepton plus jets channel with {ge} 1 and {ge} 2 secondary vertex tags. We use the scalar sum of transverse energies of the event (H{sub T}) to discriminate t{bar t} from the other backgrounds. We also use the transverse mass of the leptonic W-boson (M{sub T}{sup W}) to further reduce the Non-W backgrounds. We use a combination of data and Monte Carlo to estimate the backgrounds from electroweak processes, single top, fake leptons, W+ Light Flavor fake tags, and real W+ Heavy Flavor production. We obtain a value of {sigma} {sub {ge}1} = 8.7{sub -0.9}{sup +0.9}(stat){sub -0.9}{sup +1.2}(sys) pb for the {ge}1 tag cross section, and {sigma}{sub {ge}2} = 8.7{sub -1.6}{sup +1.8}(stat){sub -1.3}{sup +1.9}(sys) pb for the {ge}2 tag cross section. The authors also present a measurement of the t{bar t} cross section by fitting the N{sub jet} spectrum. They combine the =1 and {ge}2 tag cross sections to obtain {sigma}{sub t{bar t}} = 8.9{sub -0.9}{sup +0.9}(stat){sub -1.3}{sup +1.4}(syst)pb.

Book A Measurement of the P P Total Cross Section at Radical S

Download or read book A Measurement of the P P Total Cross Section at Radical S written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The {bar p}p differential elastic scattering cross section was measured at √{bar s} = 1800 GeV, using an improved accelerator luminosity determination and CDF small angle data in the range of 0.05 ≤ t ≤ 0.2(GeV/c)2. By extrapolating the differential cross sections to t=0 and using the optical theorem we obtain a total cross section of [sigma]{sub tot}({bar p}p) = 72.0 {plus minus} 3.6 mb. This result is preliminary in the sense that we expect to further reduce the systematic error on the optical point. 9 refs., 8 figs.

Book First Measurement of the T Anti t Differential Cross Section D Sigma dM t Anti t in P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2

Download or read book First Measurement of the T Anti t Differential Cross Section D Sigma dM t Anti t in P Anti p Collisions at S 1 2 written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a measurement of the t{bar t} differential cross section with respect to the t{bar t} invariant mass, d[sigma]/dM{sub t{bar t}}, in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV using an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb−1 collected by the CDF II experiment. The t{bar t} invariant mass spectrum is sensitive to a variety of exotic particles decaying into t{bar t} pairs. The result is consistent with the standard model expectation, as modeled by PYTHIA with CTEQ5L parton distribution functions.
