Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have studied J/? production in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV with the D0 detector at Fermilab, using a??− data sample collected during the 1994--1995 collider run. We have measured the inclusive J/? production cross section as a function of the J/? transverse momentum, p{sub T}{sup J/?}, in the central and forward rapidity regions. The cross section d?/dp{sub T}{sup J/{psi}} for {vert_bar}?{sup J/{psi}}{vert_bar}0.6 covers the p{sub T}{sup J/{psi}} range from 8 to 20 GeV/c. The new measurements are in a good agreement with the CDF and earlier D0 results. The cross section d?/dp{sub T}{sup J/{psi}} for 2.6

Book excerpt: We have studied the[ital J]/[psi] production in[ital p][ital[anti p]] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV with the D[null] detector at the Fermilab Tevatron, using a[mu][sup+][mu][sup -] data sample collected during the 1994-95 running period. We have measured the inclusive[ital J]/[psi] production cross section as a function of the[ital J]/[psi] transverse momentum, [ital P][sub T][sup[ital J]/[psi]] in the central and forward rapidity regions. The new measurement of the cross section[ital d[sigma]/dp][sub T][sup[ital J]/[psi]] for[vert-bar][eta][sup[ital J]/[psi]][vert-bar][lt] 0.6 is in a good agreement with the CDF and earlier D[null] results. The cross section measurement[ital d[sigma]/dp][sub T][sup[ital J]/[psi]] for 2.5[lt][vert-bar][eta][sup[ital J]/[psi]][vert-bar][lt] 3.7 covers the[ital p][sub T][sup[ital J]/[psi]] range from 1 to 16 GeV/c. We combine the measurements in several[vert-bar][eta][sup[ital J]/[psi]][vert-bar] regions to discuss[ital d[sigma]/d[eta]][sup[ital J]/[psi]] for[ital p][sub T][sup[ital J]/[psi]][gt] 8 GeV/c. The data are compared with the next-to- leading order (NLO) QCD calculations, which take into account different[ital J]/[psi] production mechanisms.

Book J psi and Psi 2S Production in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book J psi and Psi 2S Production in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A measurement of the J/psi and psi(2S) production cross sections in pp collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 37 inverse picobarns. Using a fit to the invariant mass and decay length distributions, production cross sections have been measured separately for prompt and non-prompt charmonium states, as a function of the meson transverse momentum in several rapidity ranges. In addition, cross sections restricted to the acceptance of the CMS detector are given, which are not affected by the polarization of the charmonium states. The ratio of the differential production cross sections of the two states, where systematic uncertainties largely cancel, is also determined. The branching fraction of the inclusive B to psi(2S) X decay is extracted from the ratio of the non-prompt cross sections to be: BR(B to psi(2S) X) = (3.08 +/- 0.12(stat.+syst.) +/- 0.13(theor.) +/- 0.42(BR[PDG])) 10-̂3.

Book J Polarization in P P Collisions at u221A s

Download or read book J Polarization in P P Collisions at u221A s written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study report on a polarization measurement of inclusive J/? mesons in the di-electron decay channel at mid-rapidity at 2psubT/sub6 GeV/c in p+p collisions at √s = 200 GeV. Data were taken with the STAR detector at RHIC. The J/? polarization measurement should help to distinguish between different models of the J/? production mechanism since they predict different psubT/sub dependences of the J/? polarization. In this analysis, J/? polarization is studied in the helicity frame. The polarization parameter ?sub?/sub measured at RHIC becomes smaller towards high psubT/sub, indicating more longitudinal J/? polarization as p

Book Measurement of the Inclusive Jet Cross Section in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of the Inclusive Jet Cross Section in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inclusive jet cross section is measured in pp collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the LHC using the CMS experiment. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 34 inverse picobarns. The measurement is made for jet transverse momenta in the range 18-1100 GeV and for absolute values of rapidity less than 3. The measured cross section extends to the highest values of jet pT ever observed and, within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties, is generally in agreement with next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions.

Book Measurement of Mid rapidity Inclusive Jet Cross Section in Pp Collisions at s

Download or read book Measurement of Mid rapidity Inclusive Jet Cross Section in Pp Collisions at s written by Dmitrii Kalinkin and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cross section for inclusive jet production in high-energy pp collisions is well described by pQCD in the collinear factorization framework, which, together with its high rate and clear signal, makes it a key observable to study the proton structure. For pp collisions at RHIC at a center-of-mass energy of √s = 200 GeV, the STAR detector provides jet measurements at 0.07 ≲ xT ≡ 2pT:jet/√s ≲ 0.5. At these kinematics, the direct scattering on gluons inside the colliding protons contributes at least half of the total jet production cross section. Measurements of the inclusive jet cross section at RHIC, together with the past Deep Inelastic Scattering measurements, can provide improved constraints on the gluon Parton Distribution Function at high x.

Book Precision Measurement of the Longitudinal Double spin Asymmetry for Inclusive Jet Production in Polarized Proton Collisions at u221A s

Download or read book Precision Measurement of the Longitudinal Double spin Asymmetry for Inclusive Jet Production in Polarized Proton Collisions at u221A s written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report a new measurement of the midrapidity inclusive jet longitudinal double-spin asymmetry, ALL, in polarized pp collisions at center-of-mass energy √s = 200 GeV. The STAR data place stringent constraints on polarized parton distribution functions extracted at next-to-leading order from global analyses of inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (DIS), semi-inclusive DIS, and RHIC pp data. Lastly, the measured asymmetries provide evidence at the 3? level for positive gluon polarization in the Bjorken-x region x > 0.05 .

Book Measurement of Prompt J psi Pair Production in Pp Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of Prompt J psi Pair Production in Pp Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Production of prompt J/[psi] meson pairs in proton-proton collisions at √s = 7 TeV is measured with the CMS experiment at the LHC in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 4.7 fb-1. The two J/[psi] mesons are fully reconstructed via their decays into [mu] + [mu] - pairs. This observation provides for the first time access to the high-transverse-momentum region of J/[psi] pair production where model predictions are not yet established. The total and differential cross sections are measured in a phase space defined by the individual J/[psi] transverse momentum (p T J/[psi] ) and rapidity (

Book Inclusive J psi Production Measurement in Pb Pb Collisions at Sqrt s NN

Download or read book Inclusive J psi Production Measurement in Pb Pb Collisions at Sqrt s NN written by Lizardo Valencia Palomo and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Chromodynamics predicts that the hot and dense matter produced in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions, the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), behaves as a deconfined state of quarks and gluons. Since 1980's it was predicted that quarkonia are suppressed due to screening effects in the QGP, making quarkonia a good tool to probe the plasma.ALICE is the only experiment at the LHC that was designed and built to characterize the physics of the QGP. The muon spectrometer, one of the detectors in ALICE, is used to measure the quarkonia production at forward rapidity. In this thesis the efficiency of the tracking chambers of the muon spectrometer is studied along one year of data taking. The results obtained from real data are compared to simulations in order to compute the systematic uncertainties associated to the tracking apparatus.A complete analysis of the inclusive J/psi --> mu^+ mu^- production in the 2011 Pb-Pb collisions is also presented. The study includes the signal extraction, normalization and acceptance times efficiency corrections. An important part is dedicated to the quantify the systematic uncertainties arising from different sources. The resulting R_{AA} and p_{T} are compared to previous experiments and also to theoretical models.
