They measure the branching fractions [Beta](B[sup -] [yields] J/[psi]K[sup -] [pi][sup +][pi][sup -]) = (116 [+-] 7(stat.) [+-] 9(syst.)) x 10[sup -5] and [Beta](B[sup -] [yields] X(3872)K[sup -]) x [Beta](X(3872) [yields] J/[psi][pi][sup +][pi][sup -]) = (1.28 [+-] 0.41) x 10[sup -5] and find the mass of the X(3872) to be 3873.4 [+-] 1.4MeV/c[sup 2]. They search for the h[sub c] narrow state in the decay B[sup -] [yields] h[sub c] K[sup -], h[sub c] [yields] J/[psi][pi][sup +][pi][sup -] and for the decay B[sup -] [yields] J/[psi]D[sup 0][pi][sup -], with D[sup 0] [yields] K[sup -][pi][sup +]. They set the 90% C.L. limits [Beta](B[sup -] [yields] h[sub c]K[sup -]) x [Beta](h[sub c] [yields] J/[psi][pi][sup +][pi][sup -])

Book excerpt: We have measured the time-dependent decay rate for the process B [yields] J/[psi] K*[sup 0](892) in a sample of about 88 million [Upsilon](4S) [yields] B[bar B] decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. In this sample we study flavor-tagged events in which one neutral B meson is reconstructed in the J/[psi]K*[sup 0] or J/[psi] [bar K]*[sup 0] final state. We measure the coefficients of the cosine and sine terms in the time-dependent asymmetries for J/[psi]K*[sup 0] and J/[psi][bar K]*[sup 0], find them to be consistent with the Standard Model expectations, and set upper limits at 90% C.L. on the decay amplitude ratios A([bar B][sup 0] [yields] J/[psi]K*[sup 0])/A(B[sup 0] [yields] J/[psi]K*[sup 0])

Book excerpt: The authors present a measurement of the decay amplitudes in B[yields] J/[psi] K*(892) channels using 20.7 fb[sup -1] of data collected at the[Upsilon](4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at PEP-II. They measure a P-wave fraction R[perpendicular]= (16.0[+-] 3.2[+-] 1.4)% and a longitudinal polarization fraction (59.7[+-] 2.8[+-] 2.4)%. The measurement of a relative phase that is neither 0 nor[pi], [psi][parallel]= 2.50[+-] 0.20[+-] 0.08 radians, favors a departure from the factorization hypothesis. Although the decay B[yields] J/[psi] K[pi] proceeds mainly via K*(892), there is also evidence for K*[sub 2](1430) and K[pi] S-wave contributions.

We measure a branching fraction [Beta](B+ 2!p{bar p}K+) = (6.7 ± 0.5 ± 0.4) x 10−6. An enhancement at low p{bar p} mass is observed and the Dalitz plot asymmetry suggests dominance of the penguin amplitude in this B decay. We search for a pentaquark candidate [Theta]*{sup ++} decaying into pK+ in the mass range 1.43 to 2.00 GeV/c2 and set limits on [Beta](B+ 2![Theta]*{sup ++} {bar p}) x [Beta]([Theta]*{sup ++} 2!pK+) at the 10−7 level.

The CP-violating charge asymmetries for the B{sup {+-}} → J/[psi] [pi]{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}} → J/[psi] K{sup {+-}} decays are determined to be [Alpha]{sub {pi}} = 0.01 {+-} 0.22(stat.) {+-} 0.01(syst.) and [Alpha]{sub K} = 0.003 {+-} 0.030(stat.) {+-} 0.004(syst.).

Using larger datasets, one can extract amplitudes and relative phases of the resonant contributions to the Dalitz plot, with the possibility to observe new B-meson decays.

The phases of the parity-even and parity-odd transverse amplitudes relative to the longitudinal amplitude are found to be [phi][sub [parallel]] = 2.34[sub -0.20][sup +0.23] [+-] 0.05 rad and [phi][sub [perpendicular]] = 2.47 [+-] 0.25 [+-] 0.05 rad, respectively. The authors measure five CP asymmetries which provide important limits on CP violation originating from new physics. They also observe the decay B[sup 0] --> [phi]K*[sup 0](1430).
