Book Measurement of the Branching Ratio for D sup yields bar K 892 degrees mu sup nu

Download or read book Measurement of the Branching Ratio for D sup yields bar K 892 degrees mu sup nu written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The branching ratio for the decay mode D[sup +] [yields] [bar K]*[sup 0] [mu][sup +][nu] has been measured with two methods. The first uses D[sup 0] [yields] [bar K] [sup [minus]][mu][sup +][nu] for normalization, and yields the result B(D[sup +] [yields] [bar K]*[sup 0] [mu][sup +][nu] = (3.25 [plus minus] 0.71 [plus minus] 0.75)%. From this method we also obtain the direct measurement [Gamma](D[sup +] [yields][bar K]*[sup 0][mu][sup +] [nu]/[Gamma](D[sup 0] [yields] K[sup [minus]] [mu][sup +] [nu]) = 0.43 [plus minus] 0.09 [plus minus] 0.09. The second method uses the mode D[sup +] [yields] K[sup [minus]][pi][sup +] [pi][sup +] for normalization and yields B(D[sup +] [yields] [bar K]*[sup 0] [mu][sup +][nu]) = 4.18 [plus minus] 0.66 [plus minus]0.96)%. Combining the results of the two methods yields B(D[sup +] [yields] [bar K]*[sup 0][mu][sup +][nu]) = 3.57 [plus minus] 0.96)%.

Book Measurement of the Absolute Branching Fraction of D 0 to K pi

Download or read book Measurement of the Absolute Branching Fraction of D 0 to K pi written by Romulus Godang and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors measure the absolute branching fraction for D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup -} {pi}{sup +} using partial reconstruction of {bar B}{sup 0} {yields} D*{sup +} X {ell}{sup -} {bar {nu}}{sub {ell}} decays. Only the charged lepton and the soft pion from the decay D*{sup +} {yields} D{sup 0} {pi}{sup +} are used. Based on a data sample of 230 million B{bar B} pairs collected at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC, they obtain {Beta}(D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup -} {pi}{sup +}) = (4.025 {+-} 0.038 {+-} 0.098)%, where the first error is statistical and the second error is systematic.

Book Measurement of the Branching Ratio Gamma D sup sub S D sup sub S pi sup 0 Gamma D sup sub S D sup sub S gamma

Download or read book Measurement of the Branching Ratio Gamma D sup sub S D sup sub S pi sup 0 Gamma D sup sub S D sup sub S gamma written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors have measured a preliminary value for the branching ratio (Gamma)(D*[sup +][sub s] --> D[sup +][sub s][pi][sup 0])/[Gamma](D*[sup +][sub s] --> D[sup +][sub s][gamma]) = 0.0621 [+-] 0.0049(stat) [+-] 0.0063(syst), which is consistent with the previous measurement, but has higher precision. They have also measured [Gamma](D*[sup 0] --> D[sup 0][pi][sup 0])/[Gamma](D*[sup 0] --> D[sup 0][gamma]) = 1.740 [+-] 0.020(stat) [+-] 0.125(syst), which is more precise than, and in agreement with, the world average. The branching fraction B(D*[sup +][sub s] --> D[sup +][sub s][pi][sup 0]) = 0.0585 [+-] 0.0043(stat) [+-] 0.0056(syst) is larger than the theoretical prediction, which is in the 1-3% range. However, it should be noted that the theory predicts a strong correlation between B(D*[sup +][sub s] --> D[sup +][sub s][pi][sup 0]) and B(D*[sup +] --> D[sup +][gamma]); for B(D*[sup +] --> D[sup +][gamma]) [approx]1%, B(D*[sup +][sub s] -- D[sup +][sub s][pi][sup 0]) is expected to be greatly enhanced.

Book Measurement Of Beta B sup 0 yields D sub S sup D sup and Determination of the D sub S sup yields phi pi sup Branching Fraction with a Partial Reconstruction Method

Download or read book Measurement Of Beta B sup 0 yields D sub S sup D sup and Determination of the D sub S sup yields phi pi sup Branching Fraction with a Partial Reconstruction Method written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present model-independent measurements of the branching fractions[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -]) and[Beta](D[sub s][sup+][yields][phi][pi][sup+]) based on 19.3 fb[sup -1] of data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e[sup+]e[sup -] B Factory. Neutral B-meson decays to the D*[sub s][sup+]D*[sup -] final state are selected with a partial reconstruction of the D*[sub s][sup+]; that is, only the D*[sup -] and the soft photon from the decay D*[sub s][sup+][yields] D[sub s][sup+][gamma] are reconstructed. The branching fraction[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -]) is extracted from these event yields, while[Beta](D[sub s][sup+][yields][phi][pi][sup+]) is determined by combining this result with a previous measurement of the product[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -]) x[Beta](D[sub s][sup+][yields][phi][pi][sup+]) with partial reconstruction of the D*[sup -]. They obtain the following preliminary results:[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -])= (1.50[+-] 0.16[+-] 0.12)%, [Beta](D[sub s][sup+][yields][phi][pi][sup+])= (4.7[+-] 0.6[+-] 0.8)% where the first error is statistical, and the second systematic.

Book Measurements of Branching Fraction Ratios and CP asymmetries in Suppressed B 2 D 2 K  pi    K  and B 2 D 2 K  pi     pi   Decays

Download or read book Measurements of Branching Fraction Ratios and CP asymmetries in Suppressed B 2 D 2 K pi K and B 2 D 2 K pi pi Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report the first reconstruction in hadron collisions of the suppressed decays B-2!D(2!K+[pi]- )K- and B-2!D(2!K+[pi]- )[pi]- decays, sensitive to the CKM phase [gamma], using data from 7 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider. We reconstruct a signal for the B-2!D(2!K+[pi]- )K- suppressed mode with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations, and measure the ratios of the suppressed to favored branching fractions R(K) = [22.0 " 8.6(stat) " 2.6(syst)] x 10-3, R+(K) = [42.6 " 13.7(stat) " 2.8(syst)] x 10-3, R-(K) = [3.8 " 10.3(stat) " 2.7(syst)] x 10-3 as well as the direct CP-violating asymmetry A(K) = -0.82"0.44(stat)"0.09(syst) of this mode. Corresponding quantities for B- 2!D(2!K+[pi]- )[pi]- decay are also reported.

Book An Introductory Course of Particle Physics

Download or read book An Introductory Course of Particle Physics written by Palash B. Pal and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2014-07-29 with total page 818 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For graduate students unfamiliar with particle physics, An Introductory Course of Particle Physics teaches the basic techniques and fundamental theories related to the subject. It gives students the competence to work out various properties of fundamental particles, such as scattering cross-section and lifetime. The book also gives a lucid summary of the main ideas involved. In giving students a taste of fundamental interactions among elementary particles, the author does not assume any prior knowledge of quantum field theory. He presents a brief introduction that supplies students with the necessary tools without seriously getting into the nitty-gritty of quantum field theory, and then explores advanced topics in detail. The book then discusses group theory, and in this case the author assumes that students are familiar with the basic definitions and properties of a group, and even SU(2) and its representations. With this foundation established, he goes on to discuss representations of continuous groups bigger than SU(2) in detail. The material is presented at a level that M.Sc. and Ph.D. students can understand, with exercises throughout the text at points at which performing the exercises would be most beneficial. Anyone teaching a one-semester course will probably have to choose from the topics covered, because this text also contains advanced material that might not be covered within a semester due to lack of time. Thus it provides the teaching tool with the flexibility to customize the course to suit your needs.
