Book Measurement of the B J psi K 892 Decay Amplitudes

Download or read book Measurement of the B J psi K 892 Decay Amplitudes written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a measurement of the decay amplitudes in B[yields] J/[psi] K*(892) channels using 20.7 fb[sup -1] of data collected at the[Upsilon](4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at PEP-II. They measure a P-wave fraction R[perpendicular]= (16.0[+-] 3.2[+-] 1.4)% and a longitudinal polarization fraction (59.7[+-] 2.8[+-] 2.4)%. The measurement of a relative phase that is neither 0 nor[pi], [psi][parallel]= 2.50[+-] 0.20[+-] 0.08 radians, favors a departure from the factorization hypothesis. Although the decay B[yields] J/[psi] K[pi] proceeds mainly via K*(892), there is also evidence for K*[sub 2](1430) and K[pi] S-wave contributions.

Book Measurement of the Ratio of Decay Amplitudes for B0bar J psi K 0 and B0 J psi K 0

Download or read book Measurement of the Ratio of Decay Amplitudes for B0bar J psi K 0 and B0 J psi K 0 written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have measured the time-dependent decay rate for the process B → J/[psi] K*°(892) in a sample of about 88 million [Upsilon](4S) → B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. In this sample we study flavor-tagged events in which one neutral B meson is reconstructed in the J/[psi]K*° or J/[psi] {bar K}*° final state. We measure the coefficients of the cosine and sine terms in the time-dependent asymmetries for J/[psi]K*° and J/[psi]{bar K}*°, find them to be consistent with the Standard Model expectations, and set upper limits at 90% C.L. on the decay amplitude ratios.

Book Measurement of the Decay Amplitudes and Branching Fractions of B J Psi K and B J psi K Decays

Download or read book Measurement of the Decay Amplitudes and Branching Fractions of B J Psi K and B J psi K Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using data taken with the CLEO II detector, we present the first full angular analysis in the color-suppressed modes B[sup 0][yields] J/[psi] K*[sup 0] and B[sup+][yields] J/[psi] K*[sup+]. This leads to a complete determination of the decay amplitudes of these modes. In addition, we update the branching fractions for B[yields] J/[psi] K and B[yields] J/[psi] K*.

Download or read book Measurement of the B sup 0 phi K sup 0 Decay Amplitudes written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a sample of about 227 million B[bar B] pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring the authors perform a full angular analysis of the decay B[sup 0] --> [phi]K*[sup 0](892). They measure the branching fraction to be (9.2 [+-] 0.9 [+-] 0.5) x 10[sup 06] and determine the fractions of longitudinal and parity-odd transverse contributions as f[sub L] = 0.52 [+-] 0.05 [+-] 0.02 and F[sub [perpendicular]] = 0.22 [+-] 0.05 [+-] 0.02, respectively. The phases of the parity-even and parity-odd transverse amplitudes relative to the longitudinal amplitude are found to be [phi][sub [parallel]] = 2.34[sub -0.20][sup +0.23] [+-] 0.05 rad and [phi][sub [perpendicular]] = 2.47 [+-] 0.25 [+-] 0.05 rad, respectively. The authors measure five CP asymmetries which provide important limits on CP violation originating from new physics. They also observe the decay B[sup 0] --> [phi]K*[sup 0](1430).

Book Measurement of Decay Amplitudes of B to Ccbar K with an Angular Analysis for Ccbar

Download or read book Measurement of Decay Amplitudes of B to Ccbar K with an Angular Analysis for Ccbar written by B. Aubert and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We perform the first three-dimensional measurement of the amplitudes of B {yields} {psi}(2S)K* and B {yields} {chi}{sub c1}K* decays and update our previous measurement for B {yields} J/{psi} K*. We use a data sample collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring, representing 232 million produced B{bar B} pairs. The longitudinal polarization of decays to the 1{sup ++} {chi}{sub c1} meson together with a K* meson, is found to be larger than that for the decay to the 1{sup --} {Psi} mesons. No direct CP-violating charge asymmetry is observed.

Book Amplitude Analysis of the B to Phi K 892 Decay

Download or read book Amplitude Analysis of the B to Phi K 892 Decay written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We perform an amplitude analysis of B{sup ±} 2!{var_phi}(1020)K*(892){sup ±} decay with a sample of about 384 million B{bar B} pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. Overall, twelve parameters are measured, including the fractions of longitudinal f{sub L} and parity-odd transverse f{sub {perpendicular}} amplitudes, branching fraction, strong phases, and six parameters sensitive to CP-violation. We use the dependence on the K[pi] invariant mass of the interference between the J{sup P} = 1− and 0 K[pi] components to resolve the discrete ambiguity in the determination of the strong and weak phases. Our measurements of f{sub L} = 0.49 ± 0.05 ± 0.03, f{sub {perpendicular}} = 0.21 {+-} 0.05 {+-} 0.02, and the strong phases point to the presence of a substantial helicity-plus amplitude from a presently unknown source.

Book An Introductory Course of Particle Physics

Download or read book An Introductory Course of Particle Physics written by Palash B. Pal and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2014-07-29 with total page 818 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For graduate students unfamiliar with particle physics, An Introductory Course of Particle Physics teaches the basic techniques and fundamental theories related to the subject. It gives students the competence to work out various properties of fundamental particles, such as scattering cross-section and lifetime. The book also gives a lucid summary of the main ideas involved. In giving students a taste of fundamental interactions among elementary particles, the author does not assume any prior knowledge of quantum field theory. He presents a brief introduction that supplies students with the necessary tools without seriously getting into the nitty-gritty of quantum field theory, and then explores advanced topics in detail. The book then discusses group theory, and in this case the author assumes that students are familiar with the basic definitions and properties of a group, and even SU(2) and its representations. With this foundation established, he goes on to discuss representations of continuous groups bigger than SU(2) in detail. The material is presented at a level that M.Sc. and Ph.D. students can understand, with exercises throughout the text at points at which performing the exercises would be most beneficial. Anyone teaching a one-semester course will probably have to choose from the topics covered, because this text also contains advanced material that might not be covered within a semester due to lack of time. Thus it provides the teaching tool with the flexibility to customize the course to suit your needs.

Book Critical Properties of Greek Letter Phi 4 theories

Download or read book Critical Properties of Greek Letter Phi 4 theories written by Hagen Kleinert and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains in detail how to perform perturbation expansions in quantum field theory to high orders, and how to extract the critical properties of the theory from the resulting divergent power series. These properties are calculated for various second-order phase transitions of three-dimensional systems with high accuracy, in particular the critical exponents observable in experiments close to the phase transition.Beginning with an introduction to critical phenomena, this book develops the functional-integral description of quantum field theories, their perturbation expansions, and a method for finding recursively all Feynman diagrams to any order in the coupling strength. Algebraic computer programs are supplied on accompanying World Wide Web pages. The diagrams correspond to integrals in momentum space. They are evaluated in 4-î dimensions, where they possess pole terms in 1/î. The pole terms are collected into renormalization constants. The theory of the renormalization group is used to find the critical scaling laws. They contain critical exponents which are obtained from the renormalization constants in the form of power series. These are divergent, due to factorially growing expansion coefficients. The evaluation requires resummation procedures, which are performed in two ways: (1) using traditional methods based on Pad‚ and Borel transformations, combined with analytic mappings; (2) using modern variational perturbation theory, where the results follow from a simple strong-coupling formula. As a crucial test of the accuracy of the methods, the critical exponent à governing the divergence of the specific heat of superfluid helium is shown to agree very well with the extremely precise experimental number found in the space shuttle orbiting the earth (whose data are displayed on the cover of the book). The phi4-theories investigated in this book contain any number N of fields in an O(N)-symmetric interaction, or in an interaction in which O(N)-symmetry is broken by a term of a cubic symmetry. The crossover behavior between the different symmetries is investigated. In addition, alternative ways of obtaining critical exponents of phi4-theories are sketched, such as variational perturbation expansions in three rather than 4-î dimensions, and improved ratio tests in high-temperature expansions of lattice models.

Book Magnetism and Synchrotron Radiation

Download or read book Magnetism and Synchrotron Radiation written by Eric Beaurepaire and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-12 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in the synthesis of new materials with often complex, nano-scaled structures require increasingly sophisticated experimental techniques that can probe the electronic states, the atomic magnetic moments and the magnetic microstructures responsible for the properties of these materials. At the same time, progress in synchrotron radiation techniques has ensured that these light sources remain a key tool of investigation, e.g. synchrotron radiation sources of the third generation are able to support magnetic imaging on a sub-micrometer scale. With the Fifth Mittelwihr School on Magnetism and Synchrotron Radiation the tradition of teaching the state-of-the-art on modern research developments continues and is expressed through the present set of extensive lectures provided in this volume. While primarily aimed at postgraduate students and newcomers to the field, this volume will also benefit researchers and lecturers actively working in the field.
