Download or read book Measurement of The b 0 Lifetime in the Exclusive Decay b 0 J 0 in Pp over Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We measure the?{sub b}° lifetime in the fully reconstructed decay?{sub b}° → J/??° using 10.4 fb−1 of p{bar p} collisions collected with the D0 detector at √s = 1.96 TeV. The lifetime of the topologically similar decay channel B° → J/? K{sub S}° is also measured. We obtain? (?{sub b}°) = 1.303 ± 0.075 (stat.) ± 0.035 (syst.) ps and? (B°) = 1.508 ± 0.025 (stat.) ± 0.043 (syst.) ps. Using these measurements, we determine the lifetime ratio of? (?{sub b}°)/? (B°) = 0.864 ± 0.052 (stat.) ± 0.033 (syst.).

Book Measurement of the Lambda 0 b Lifetime in the Exclusive Decay Lambda 0 b rightarrow J psi Lambda 0 with the D0 detector

This book was released on 2012 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this work we report a measurement of the [Lambda]0b baryon lifetime using the exclusive decay [Lambda]0b→ J/ [Psi][Lambda]0. The B0 meson lifetime is also measured in the topologically similar channel B0→ J/ K0S , which provides a crosscheck of the measurement procedure, and allows a direct determination of the ratio of the [Lambda]0b and the B0 lifetimes. The data used in this analysis were collected with the DØ detector during the complete Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, from 2002 to 2011, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 10.4 fb-1 of proton-antiproton collisions at a center of mass energy √s = 1.96 TeV. We obtain [tau] ([Lambda]0b ) = 1.303 ± 0.075 (stat.) ± 0.035 (syst.) ps, [tau] (B0) = 1.508±0.025 (stat.)±0.043 (syst.) ps and [tau] ([Lambda]0b )/[tau] (B0) = 0.864± 0.052 (stat.)±0.033 (syst.). These measurements supersede previous results of the DØ Collaboration using the same decay channels. Our measurement of the lifetime ratio is in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions and compatible with the current world-average, but differs with the latest measurement of the CDF Collaboration in more than 2 standard deviations.

Book B 0 s Lifetime Measurement in the CP odd Decay Channel B 0 s to J psi mbox f 0 980

Download or read book B 0 s Lifetime Measurement in the CP odd Decay Channel B 0 s to J psi mbox f 0 980 written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lifetime of the $B^{0}_{s}$ meson is measured in the decay channel $B^{0}_{s} \to J/\psi\mbox{ }\pi^+ \pi^-$ with $880 \leq M_{\pi^+\pi^-} \leq 1080$ MeV/$c^2$, which is mainly a CP-odd state and dominated by the $f_{0}(980)$ resonance. In 10.4 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected with the D0 detector in Run II of the Tevatron, the lifetime of the $B^{0}_{s}$ meson is measured to be $\tau(B^{0}_{s}) = 1.70\pm 0.14 \mbox{ (stat)} \pm 0.05 \mbox{ (syst) ps}$. Neglecting CP violation in $B_s^0/\bar{B}_s^0$ mixing, the measurement can be translated into the width of the heavy mass eigenstate of the $B^0_s$, $\Gamma_H = 0.59 \pm 0.05 \mbox{ (stat)} \pm 0.02 \mbox{ (syst)} \mbox{ ps$^{-1}$}$.

Book Measurement of the B d0 Lifetime Using B d0 to J psi K0 S Decays at Dzero

Download or read book Measurement of the B d0 Lifetime Using B d0 to J psi K0 S Decays at Dzero written by Paul W. Balm and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis describes a measurement of the B{sub d}{sup 0} lifetime in the decay to (J/{psi}K{sub S}{sup 0}), using 114 pb{sup -1} of data collected by the D0 experiment at the Tevatron from October 15, 2002, to June 10, 2003. The measurement is motivated by the tests of the Standard Model that it makes possible. These include tests of Heavy Quark Effective Theory predicting B-meson lifetimes, and of the complex phase in the CKM-matrix as the source of CP-violation in B{sub d}{sup 0} decays to (J/{psi}K{sub S}{sup 0}).

Book Cities and Their Vital Systems

Download or read book Cities and Their Vital Systems written by Advisory Committee on Technology and Society and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1989 with total page 1298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cities and Their Vital Systems asks basic questions about the longevity, utility, and nature of urban infrastructures; analyzes how they grow, interact, and change; and asks how, when, and at what cost they should be replaced. Among the topics discussed are problems arising from increasing air travel and airport congestion; the adequacy of water supplies and waste treatment; the impact of new technologies on construction; urban real estate values; and the field of "telematics," the combination of computers and telecommunications that makes money machines and national newspapers possible.

This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper reports on the measurement of the polarization in the decay B[sup o] [yields] J/[psi]K[sup *o] using data collected at the collider Detector at Fermilab in [bar p]p collisions at [radical]s = 1.8 TeV. B[sup O] mesons were reconstructed through the decay chain B[sup o] [yields] J/[psi]K[sup *o], J/[psi] [yields] [mu][sup +][mu][sup [minus]], K[sup *o] [yields] K[sup +][pi][sup [minus]]. A sample of 50 [plus-minus] 11 events was used in the measurement, yielding the result [Gamma][sub L]/[Gamma] = 0.66 [plus-minus] 0.10 (stat) [sub [minus]]0.10 [sup +0.08] (sys).

Book Measurement of the B sup and B sup 0 Lifetimes at CDF

Download or read book Measurement of the B sup and B sup 0 Lifetimes at CDF written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two measurements of the lifetime of neutral and charged B mesons in p[bar p] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV by the CDF experiment are presented. The first relies on the study of exclusive decays of the type B[yields][psi] K, the second on semileptonic decays of a B meson into a D[degrees] or a D. The combined results are[tau](B[sup+])= 1.62[+-] 0.09 ps, [tau](B[sub 0])= 1.60[+-] 0.09 ps and[tau](B[sup+])/[tau](B[sup 0])= 1.00[+-] 0.07.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The B[sup 0] lifetime has been measured with a sample of 23 million B[bar B] pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e[sup+]e[sup -] storage ring during 1999 and 2000. Events from the semileptonic decay B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup -][ell][sup+][nu][sub[ell]] have been selected with a partial reconstruction method in which only the charged lepton and the slow[pi] from the D*[sup -][yields][bar D][sup 0][pi][sup -] decay are reconstructed. The result is[tau][sub B][sup 0]= 1.529[+-] 0.012 (stat)[+-] 0.029 (syst) ps.

Book Measurement of the Lambda b Lifetime in Lambda b Lambda c Pi Decays in P pbar Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of the Lambda b Lifetime in Lambda b Lambda c Pi Decays in P pbar Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report a measurement of the lifetime of the?{sub b}° baryon in decays to the?{sub c}?− final state in a sample corresponding to 1.1 fb−1 collected in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider. Using a sample of about 3000 fully reconstructed?{sub b}° events we measure?(?{sub b}°) = 1.401 ± 0.046 (stat) ± 0.035 (syst) ps (corresponding to c?(?{sub b}°) = 420.1 ± 13.7 (stat) ± 10.6 (syst)?m, where c is the speed of light). The ratio of this result and the world average B° lifetime yields?(?{sub b}°)/?(B°) = 0.918 ± 0.038 (stat and syst), in good agreement with recent theoretical predictions.
