Book Measurement of Passenger Car Light Truck and Highway Truck and Bus Tire Rolling Resistance

Download or read book Measurement of Passenger Car Light Truck and Highway Truck and Bus Tire Rolling Resistance written by Highway Tire Committee and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The force, torque, and power methods of measurement are all in common use and should yield the same test results. Effects of steering, traction, surface texture, and non-steady-state tire operations are excluded from the recommended practice because they are still in the research stage. This information report provides background information and explanations related to the use of the Measurement Procedure and follows the same format as SAE J1269.This document has been modified in order to provide a relevant single point test condition (Standard Reference Condition [SRC]) appropriate for high volume rolling resistance testing such as for regulatory or comparative purposes.

Book Rolling Resistance Measurement Procedure for Passenger Car Light Truck and Highway Truck and Bus Tires

Download or read book Rolling Resistance Measurement Procedure for Passenger Car Light Truck and Highway Truck and Bus Tires written by Highway Tire Committee and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice applies to the laboratory measurement of rolling resistance of pneumatic passenger car and light truck tires. The procedure applies only to the steady-state operation of free-rolling tires at zero slip and inclination angles; it includes the following three basic methods:Force Method--Measures the reaction force at the tire spindle and converts it to rolling resistance.Torque Method--Measures the torque input to the test machine and converts it to rolling resistance.Power Method--Measures the power input to the test machine and converts it to rolling resistance.

Book Rolling Resistance Measurement Procedure for Highway Truck and Bus Tires

Download or read book Rolling Resistance Measurement Procedure for Highway Truck and Bus Tires written by Truck and Bus Tire Committee and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This recommended practice applies to the laboratory measurement of the rolling resistance of pneumatic tires designed primarily for use on trucks and buses in normal highway service, as defined by the Tire and Rim Association, Inc. (TRA); it does not include light truck tires (designated LT). The procedure applies only to straight, free-rolling tires under steady-state operation and includes the following three basic methods: This technical report is being stabilized because the technical committee has determined that the using community is moving towards newer technology and would like to alert users that this new technology exists which may want to be considered for new design. Refer to SAE J1269 and SAE J1270 for rolling resistance measurement.

Book excerpt: The force, torque, and energy methods of measurement are all in common use and should yield the same test results. Effects of steering, traction, and non steady-state tire operations are excluded from the recommended practice because they are still in the research stage. Methods of correcting laboratory data to road conditions are being developed. Book Stepwise Coastdown Methodology for Measuring Tire Rolling Resistance

Download or read book Stepwise Coastdown Methodology for Measuring Tire Rolling Resistance written by Highway Tire Committee and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice is applicable to pneumatic Passenger Car "P" Type, Light Truck Metric, and Light Truck High Flotation tires, or similar tires approved by bodies other than Tire & Rim Association. The methodology is applicable within normal operating ranges of vertical load and inflation pressure, and for velocities between 115 km/h and 15 km/h (71 mph and 9 mph) during a relatively short duration event such as a coastdown. This procedure is applicable only to operation in the free-rolling mode at zero slip and camber angle for ambient temperatures between 20 °C and 28 °C (68 °F and 82 °F) and for surfaces with diameters of 1.2 m (48 in) diameter or greater. Details regarding the equipment, tires, and test methods used specifically for validation of this document are included in Appendix A. Two basic measurement methods covered by this document are as follows:

Book Passenger Car Truck and Bus Tyre Rolling Resistance Measurement Mehtod Single Point Test and Correlation of Measurement Results

Download or read book Passenger Car Truck and Bus Tyre Rolling Resistance Measurement Mehtod Single Point Test and Correlation of Measurement Results written by and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document specifies methods for measuring rolling resistance, under controlled laboratory conditions, for new pneumatic tyres designed primarily for use on passenger cars, trucks and buses. This document is not applicable to tyres intended for temporary use only. It includes a method for correlating measurement results to allow inter-laboratory comparisons. It is designed to facilitate international cooperation and, possibly, regulation building. Measurement of tyres using this method enables comparisons to be made between the rolling resistance of new test tyres when they are free-rolling straight ahead, in a position perpendicular to the drum outer surface, and in steady-state conditions.
