Book Proton anti proton Annihilations Into Two Neutral Mesons Pi sup 0 Pi sup 0 Pi sup 0 eta Etaeta at 1 862 GeV c Angular Distribution Cross Sections

Download or read book Proton anti proton Annihilations Into Two Neutral Mesons Pi sup 0 Pi sup 0 Pi sup 0 eta Etaeta at 1 862 GeV c Angular Distribution Cross Sections written by and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A counter and high-Z, optical spark chamber experiment was run at Brookhaven National Laboratory to measure the angular distributions of gamma ray final states of anti pp annihilation between 1.1 and 2.0 GeV/c incident anti p momentum. The general method of analysis used to determine the channel cross sections for the three reactions anti pp .-->. .pi./sup 0/.pi./sup 0/, .pi./sup 0/eta, and eta eta as well as the angular distributions for the first two. The results are presented for 1.862 GeV/c (.sqrt.s = 5.67) where the cross sections of all three reactions are approximately equal to 10.mu.b. The angular distributions of .pi./sup 0/.pi./sup 0/ and .pi./sup 0/eta show pronounced structure. The .pi./sup 0/.pi./sup 0/ data is combined with data of anti pp .-->. .pi./sup -/.pi./sup +/ to extract the pure I = 0 and I = 1 angular distributions. The possibility of cross channel effects is explored.

Book The Theory of Almost Everything

Download or read book The Theory of Almost Everything written by Robert Oerter and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2006-09-26 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are two scientific theories that, taken together, explain the entire universe. The first, which describes the force of gravity, is widely known: Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. But the theory that explains everything else—the Standard Model of Elementary Particles—is virtually unknown among the general public. In The Theory of Almost Everything, Robert Oerter shows how what were once thought to be separate forces of nature were combined into a single theory by some of the most brilliant minds of the twentieth century. Rich with accessible analogies and lucid prose, The Theory of Almost Everything celebrates a heretofore unsung achievement in human knowledge—and reveals the sublime structure that underlies the world as we know it.
