Book Design of Rotating Electrical Machines

Download or read book Design of Rotating Electrical Machines written by Juha Pyrhonen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-02-11 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In one complete volume, this essential reference presents an in-depth overview of the theoretical principles and techniques of electrical machine design. This book enables you to design rotating electrical machines with its detailed step-by-step approach to machine design and thorough treatment of all existing and emerging technologies in this field. Senior electrical engineering students and postgraduates, as well as machine designers, will find this book invaluable. In depth, it presents the following: Machine type definitions; different synchronous, asynchronous, DC, and doubly salient reluctance machines. An analysis of types of construction; external pole, internal pole, and radial flux machines. The properties of rotating electrical machines, including the insulation and heat removal options. Responding to the need for an up-to-date reference on electrical machine design, this book includes exercises with methods for tackling, and solutions to, real design problems. A supplementary website hosts two machine design examples created with MATHCAD: rotor surface magnet permanent magnet machine and squirrel cage induction machine calculations. Classroom tested material and numerous graphs are features that further make this book an excellent manual and reference to the topic.

Book Modelling of Convective Heat and Mass Transfer in Nanofluids with and without Boiling and Condensation

Download or read book Modelling of Convective Heat and Mass Transfer in Nanofluids with and without Boiling and Condensation written by Andriy A. Avramenko and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-12 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents step-by-step description of the use of Lie group analysis to find symmetry forms and similarity solutions for single- and two-phase laminar and turbulent flows of nanofluids. It outlines novel and unique analytical solutions validated via comparisons with experimental data. The main part of the book is devoted to analytical modeling of film condensation of still and moving vapor with nanoparticles, stable film boiling of nanofluids, instantaneous unsteady boiling and condensation of nano- and ordinary fluids and clarification and quantification of instability conditions in the vapor layer, as well as centrifugal and Dean instability in nanofluids. It was demonstrated that such complex phenomena can be successfully simulated using the proposed approaches validated via reliable experiments. The book is intended for scientists, engineers, graduate and undergraduate students specializing in the area of engineering thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer and energy systems.

Book Advances in Fluid Mechanics Measurements

Download or read book Advances in Fluid Mechanics Measurements written by MOHAMED GAD-EL-HAK and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One cannot overemphasize the importance of studying fluids in motion or at rest for a variety of scientific and engineering endeavors. Fluid mechanics as an art reaches back into antiquity, but its rational formulation is a relatively recent undertaking. Much of the physics of a particular flow situation can be understood by conducting appropriate experiments. Flow visualization techniques offer a useful tool to establish an overall picture of a flow field and to delineate broadly its salient features before embarking on more detailed quantitative measurements. Among the single-point measurements that are particularly difficult are those in separated flows, non-Newtonian fluids, rotating flows, and nuclear aerosols. Pressure, shear stress, vorticity, and heat transfer coefficient are also difficult quantities to measure, particularly for time-dependent flows. These and other special situations are among the topics covered in this volume. Each article emphasizes the development of a particular measuring technique. The topics covered were chosen because of their importance to the field, recent appeal, and potential for future development. The articles are comprehensive and coverage is pedagogical with a bias towards recent developments.
