Book Measurement of Cross Sections for the 63Cu alpha Gamma 67Ga Reaction from 5 9 8 7 MeV

Download or read book Measurement of Cross Sections for the 63Cu alpha Gamma 67Ga Reaction from 5 9 8 7 MeV written by Eric B. Norman and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have measured cross sections for the 63Cu(alpha, gamma)67Ga reaction in the 5.9-8.7 MeV energy range using an activation technique. Natural Cu foils were bombarded with alpha beams from the 88 Cyclotron at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Activated foils were counted using gamma spectrometry system at LBNL's Low Background Facility. The 63Cu(alpha, gamma)67Ga cross-sections were determined and compared with the latest NON-SMOKER theoretical values. Experimental cross sections were found to be in agreement with theoretical values.

Book Measurement of Cross Sections for Alpha induced Reactions on 197Au and Thick target Yields for the alpha gamma Process on 64Zn and 63Cu

Download or read book Measurement of Cross Sections for Alpha induced Reactions on 197Au and Thick target Yields for the alpha gamma Process on 64Zn and 63Cu written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have measured the cross sections for the 197Au([alpha], [gamma])2°1Tl and 197Au([alpha],2n)199Tl reactions in the 17.9- to 23.9-MeV energy range, and 197Au([alpha], n)2°°Tl reaction in the 13.4- to 23.9-MeV energy range using an activation technique. Thick-target yields for the 64Zn([alpha], [gamma])68Ge (7- to 14-MeV) and 63Cu([alpha], [gamma])67Ga (7-MeV) reactions were measured. For all measurements, natural elements were bombarded with He beams from the 88'' Cyclotron at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Irradiated samples were counted using a g-spectrometry system at LBNL's Low Background Facility. Measured 197Au([alpha], [gamma])2°1Tl cross-sections were compared with the NON-SMOKER theoretical values. The thick-target yields for the 64Zn([alpha], [gamma])68Ge and 63Cu([alpha], [gamma])67Ga reactions are also compared with the theoretical yield, calculated numerically using the energy dependent NON-SMOKER cross section data. In both cases, measured values are found to follow a trend of overlapping the predicted value near the alpha nucleus barrier height and fall below with a slowly widening difference between them in the sub barrier energy points.

Book Measurement of 107Ag alpha Gamma 111 In Cross Sections

Download or read book Measurement of 107Ag alpha Gamma 111 In Cross Sections written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cross sections have been measured for the 1°7Ag([alpha], [gamma])111In reaction at several a-particle energies between 7.8 MeV and 11.9 MeV. This reaction is of interest because it can provide a check on calculations of low-energy ([alpha], [gamma]) cross sections required for stellar nucleosynthesis predictions. Stacks of natural Ag foils of 1 mm thickness and 99.97% purity were bombarded with 4He beams. Following irradiation, the yields of the 171-keV and 245-keV photons produced in the 2.805 day electron-capture decay of the 111In product nucleus were measured off-line. The Ag foils were interleaved with 99.6% purity, 6 [mu]m thick natural Ti foils so that known cross sections for the 48Ti([alpha], n) reaction could be used to check the accuracy of the beam current integration. For any given beam energy, beam energy degradation in the foils resulted in lower effective bombarding energies for successive foils in the stack, enabling measurements to be made for several energies per irradiation. The measured cross sections are compared with published statistical-model calculations.

Book Cross Sections for the 16o gamma 2n 19f gamma 2pn 27al gamma 2pn 51v gamma Alpha and 51v gamma Alpha3n Reactions to 300 Mev

Download or read book Cross Sections for the 16o gamma 2n 19f gamma 2pn 27al gamma 2pn 51v gamma Alpha and 51v gamma Alpha3n Reactions to 300 Mev written by Richard A. Meyer and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yield and cross section results were obtained for some photonuclear reactions in 16O, 19F, 27Al, and 51V targets by measuring the radioactivities of the product nuclei in samples that had been irradiated with bremsstrahlung in the 20 to 300-MeV energy range. The reactions studied were the 16O(Gamma, 2n), 19F(Gamma, 2pn), 27Al(Gamma, 2pn), 51V(Gamma, alpha), and 51V(Gamma, alpha3n) reactions. The cross sections at energies above 150 MeV were interpreted in terms of the contributions from various reaction mechanisms. The reactions in O, F, and Al generally have important contributions from both quasi-deuteron and pion emission processes. In the 51V reactions, an additional mechanism, pion reabsorption, also makes important contributions. The reaction cross sections at energies below 150 MeV are used to determine the total cross sections for photon absorption at energies above the giant resonance region and below 150 MeV. The resulting total cross sections are generally consistent with those determined from neutron counting experiments. (Author).

Book Cross Sections for the Reaction alpha alpha He He

Download or read book Cross Sections for the Reaction alpha alpha He He written by Jonathan M. Fetter and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a measurement of cross sections for the reaction Îł(Îł,^3He)^5He at an incident energy of 118.0 MeV. This provides a sensitive test of the theory of unbound stripping reactions, since the standard approximations are constructed for heavy-ion reactions. Preliminary predictions are found to be lower than the measurement by factors of two at lower angles, and by factors of up to 8.5 at angles near 90℗ʻ. Work continues on refining the predictions; newer predictions are greater than the measurement roughly by factors of two at low angles.

Book Discrepancy Between Differential and Integral Results for the 63Cu n Cap Alpha 6 Co Cross Sections Threshold to 10 MeV

Download or read book Discrepancy Between Differential and Integral Results for the 63Cu n Cap Alpha 6 Co Cross Sections Threshold to 10 MeV written by and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The threshold-reaction 63Cu(n, .cap alpha.)6°Co is of special importance in reactor dosimetry for long-term fast-flux integration. The inconsistency in the available differential and integral data base has limited the applicability of that reaction as a reliable monitor. The availability of results from a recent measurement of the excitation function for the reaction 63Cu(n, .cap alpha.) at ANL prompted a further investigation of this problem. The implications of the new data are discussed. 24 references.

Book Cross Section Measurement for the 52Cr n P 52V Reaction Near Threshold

Download or read book Cross Section Measurement for the 52Cr n P 52V Reaction Near Threshold written by and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cross sections for this reaction were determined in the range 5.3 to 9 MeV using a previously-reported pulsed-accelerator technique to measure gamma ray activity from 3.75 m 52V. Very few experimental data have been reported for this reaction, and little was known about the threshold region prior to the present experiment. The results of this work (in conjunction with other available cross section information) were used in the computation of fission-spectrum averages which are of interest for reactor applications.
