Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report a search for non–Standard Model physics through the measurement of CP–violating asymmetries in the singly–Cabibbo– suppressed $D0̂ o pi+̂ pi-̂$ and $D0̂ o K+̂ K-̂ $ decays reconstructed in about 5.9 fb-1 of CDF data. We use the strong $D{̂*+} o D0̂pi+̂$ decay (?D tag?) to identify the flavor of the charmed meson at production time and exploit CP–conserving strong cc pair–production in pp collisions. Large samples of Cabibbo–favored $D0̂ o K-̂pi+̂$ decays with and without D tag are used to highly suppress systematic uncertainties due to detector effects. The results are the world’s most precise measurements to date and have been published by Physical Review D in January 2012 [1].

Book excerpt: We report a search for non-Standard Model physics through the measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in the singly-Cabibbo- suppressed $D^0 \to \pi^+ \pi^-$ and $D^0 \to K^+ K^- $ decays reconstructed in about 5.9 fb-1 of CDF data. We use the strong $D^{*+} \to D^0\pi^+$ decay ("D tag") to identify the flavor of the charmed meson at production time and exploit CP-conserving strong cc pair-production in pp collisions. Large samples of Cabibbo-favored $D^0 \to K^-\pi^+$ decays with and without D tag are used to highly suppress systematic uncertainties due to detector effects. Book CP Violation in the D0 Pi Pi Decay at CDF

Download or read book CP Violation in the D0 Pi Pi Decay at CDF written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report a measurement of the CP violating asymmetry in D° →??− decays using approximately 215,000 decays reconstructed in about 5.94 fb−1 of CDF data. We use the strong D*+ → D°?+ decay ('D* tag') to identify the flavor of the charmed meson at production time and exploit CP-conserving strong c{bar c} pair-production in p{bar p} collisions. Higher statistic samples of Cabibbo-favored D° → K−?+ decays with and without D* tag are used to highly suppress systematic uncertainties due to detector effects. The result, A{sub CP}(D° →?+?−) = [0.22 ± 0.24 (stat.) ± 0.11 (syst.)]%, is the world's most precise measurement to date and it is fully consistent with no CP violation.

Book Measurement of CP violating Parameters in Fully Reconstructed B D pi and B Drho Decays

Download or read book Measurement of CP violating Parameters in Fully Reconstructed B D pi and B Drho Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the measurement of sin2[beta] is now a precision measurement, the constraints on the other two angles of the Unitarity Triangle, [alpha] and [gamma], are still limited by statistics and/or by theoretical uncertainties. This paper reports on the measurement of CP-violating asymmetries in B[sup 0] --> D(*)[sup [+-]][pi][sub [-+]] and B[sup 0] --> D[sup [+-]][rho][sup [-+]] decays in [Upsilon](4S) --> B[bar B] decays, asymmetries which are rleated to sin(2[beta] + [gamma]). This analysis updates the results already published by including a new decay mode (B[sup 0] --> D[sup [+-]][rho][sup [-+]]) and a larger data sample (110 instead of 88 million [Upsilon](4S) --> B[bar B] decays).

Book Measurement of Time dependent CP Asymmetries InB0 D pi and B0 Drho Decays

Download or read book Measurement of Time dependent CP Asymmetries InB0 D pi and B0 Drho Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present updated results on time-dependent CP asymmetries in fully reconstructed B° → D{sup (*)±}[pi]{sup {-+}} and B° → D{sup ±}[rho]{sup {-+}} decays in approximately 232 million [Upsilon](4S) → B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. From a time-dependent maximum likelihood fit we obtain for the parameters related to the CP violation angle 2[beta] + [gamma]: a{sup D{pi}} = -0.010 ± 0.023 ± 0.007, c{sub lep}{sup D{pi}} = -0.033 ± 0.042 ± 0.012, a{sup D*{pi}} = -0.040 ± 0.023 ± 0.010, C{sub lep}{sup D*{pi}} = 0.049 ± 0.042 ± 0.015, a{sup D{rho}} = -0.024 ± 0.031 ± 0.009, c{sub lep}{sup D{rho}} = -0.098 {+-} 0.055 {+-} 0.018, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. Using other measurements and theoretical assumptions, we interpret the results in terms of the angles of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle and find

Book Measurement of CP violating Asymmetries in D0 to pi pi and D0 to K K Decays at CDF

Download or read book Measurement of CP violating Asymmetries in D0 to pi pi and D0 to K K Decays at CDF written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report on a measurement of CP-violating asymmetries (A{sub CP}) in the Cabibbo-suppressed D° →??− and D° → K+K− decays reconstructed in a data sample corresponding to 5.9 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab. We use the strong decay D*+ → D°?+ to identify the flavor of the charmed meson at production and exploit CP-conserving strong c{bar c} pair-production in p{bar p} collisions. High-statistics samples of Cabibbo-favored D° → K−?+ decays with and without a D*{sup ±} tag are used to correct for instrumental effects and significantly reduce systematic uncertainties. We measure A{sub CP}(D° →?+?−) = (+0.22 ± 0.24(stat) ± 0.11 (syst))% and A{sub CP}(D° → K+K−) = ( -0.24 ± 0.22 (stat) {+-} 0.09 (syst))%, in agreement with CP conservation. These are the most precise determinations from a single experiment to date. Under the assumption of negligible direct CP violation in D° →?+?− and D° → K+K− decays, the results provide an upper limit to the CP-violating asymmetry in D° mixing,

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We measure CP-violating asymmetries of neutral charmed mesons in the modes D° → K−K and D° →?−?+ with the highest precision to date by using D° → K−?+ decays to correct detector asymmetries. An analysis of 385.8 fb−1 of data collected with the BaBar detector yields values of a{sup KK}{sub CP} = (0.00 ± 0.34 (stat.) ± 0.13 (syst.))% and a{sup?{pi}}{sub CP} = ( -0.24 ± 0.52 (stat.) ± 0.22 (syst.))%, which agree with Standard Model predictions.

Download or read book Measurement of Partial Widths and Search for Direct CP Violation in D0 Meson Decays to K K and Pi Pi written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a measurement of relative partial widths and decay rate CP asymmetries in K−K and?−?+ decays of D° mesons produced in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV. They use a sample of 2 x 105 D*+ → D°?+ (and charge conjugate) decays with the D° decaying to K−?+, K−K+, and?−?+, corresponding to 123 pb−1 of data collected by the CDF II experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. No significant direct CP violation is observed, they measure?(D° → K−K+)/?(D° → K−?+) = 0.0992 ± 0.0011 ± 0.0012,?(D° →?−?+)/?(D° → K−?+) = 0.03594 ± 0.00054 ± 0.00040,?(D° → K−K+)/?(D° →?−?+) = 2.760 ± 0.040 ± 0.034, A{sub CP} (K−K+) = (2.0 ± 1.2 ± 0.6)%, and A{sub CP}(?−?+) = (1.0 ± 1.3 ± 0.6)%, where, in all cases, the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Book Measurements of CP Violating Asymmetries in the Decay B0 to K K K0

Download or read book Measurements of CP Violating Asymmetries in the Decay B0 to K K K0 written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors analyze the decay B° 2!KK−K° using 383 million B{bar B} events collected by the BABAR detector at SLAC to extract CP violation parameter values over the Dalitz plot. Combining all KK−K° events, they find A{sub CP} = -0.015 ± 0.077 ± 0.053 and [beta]{sub eff} = 0.352 ± 0.076 ± 0.026 rad, corresponding to a CP violation significance of 4.8[sigma]. A second solution near [pi]/2 - [beta]{sub eff} is disfavored with a significance of 4.5[sigma]. They also report A{sub CP} and [beta]{sub eff} separately for decays to [phi](1020)K°, f0(980)K°, and K+K−K° with m{sub K{sup +}K−}> 1.1 GeV/c2.
