Book Measurement of Neutral B Decay Branching Fractions to K sub S sup 0 pi sup pi sup Final States

Download or read book Measurement of Neutral B Decay Branching Fractions to K sub S sup 0 pi sup pi sup Final States written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The branching fractions for B[sup 0] --> K[sup 0][pi][sup +][pi][sup -], B[sup 0] --> K*[sup +][pi][sup -] and B[sup 0] --> D[sup -]( --> K[sub s][sup 0][pi][sup -])[pi][sup +] decaying to a K[sub s][sup 0][pi][sup +][pi][sup -] state have been measured and agree with previous measurements. The direct CP violating parameter A[sub K*[pi]] was measured for the decay B[sup 0] --> K*[sup +][pi][sup -] and is in agreement with the CLEO measurement, with no evidence of CP violation with the statistics used. Using larger datasets, one can extract amplitudes and relative phases of the resonant contributions to the Dalitz plot, with the possibility to observe new B-meson decays.

This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The B[sup 0] meson decay modes B[sup 0] --> D*[sup -]p[bar p][pi][sup +], D[sup -]p[bar p][sup +], [bar D]*[sup 0]p[bar p], and B[sup 0] --> [bar D][sup 0]p[bar p] are studied in a sample of 124 x 10[sup 6] B[bar B] pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. The decay of B[sup 0] --> D[sup -]p[bar p][pi][sup +] is observed for the first time, with a measured branching fraction B(B[sup 0] --> D[sup -]p[bar p][pi][sup +]) = (3.80 [+-] 0.35 [+-] 0.46) x 10[sup -4]. The following branching fractions are also determined: B(B[sup 0] --> D*[sup -]p[bar p][pi][sup +]) = (5.61 [+-] 0.59 [+-] 0.73) x 10[sup -4], B(B[sup 0] --> [bar D]*[sup 0] p[bar p]) = (0.67 [+-] 0.21 [+-] 0.09) x 10[sup -4], and B(B[sup 0] --> [bar D][sup 0]p[bar p]) = (1.24 [+-] 0.14 [+-] 0.12) x 10[sup -4]. In each decay mode the invariant mass spectra of the charmed mesons and the baryons are compared with a pure phase-space hypothesis in order to gain insight into the B meson decay dynamics. In particular, the Dalitz plots of [bar D]*[sup 0]p versus [bar D]*[sup 0][bar p] for B[sup 0] --> [bar D]*[sup 0]p[bar p] and of [bar D][sup 0]p versus [bar D][sup 0][bar p] for B[sup 0] --> [bar D][sup 0]p[bar p] are presented. All results are preliminary.

Book Measurement of the D s Leptonic Decay Constant F D s and Observation of New Resonances Decaying to D pi

Download or read book Measurement of the D s Leptonic Decay Constant F D s and Observation of New Resonances Decaying to D pi written by Jose Feliciano Benitez and published by Stanford University. This book was released on 2011 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The absolute branching fractions for the decays $D^-_s\rightarrow\ell^-\bar{\nu}_{\ell}$ ($\ell=e$, $\mu$, or $\tau$) are measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 521 fb$^{-1}$ collected at center of mass energies near 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II $e^+e^-$ collider at SLAC. The number of $D_s^-$ mesons is determined by reconstructing the recoiling system $DKX\gamma$ in events of the type $e^+e^-{\rightarrow}DKXD^{*-}_s$, where $D^{*-}_s\rightarrow D^-_s\gamma$ and $X$ represents additional pions from fragmentation. The $D^-_s\rightarrow\ell^-\nu_{\ell}$ events are detected by full or partial reconstruction of the recoiling system $DKX\gamma\ell$. The following results are obtained: $B(D^-_s \to \mu^- \nu) = (6.02 \pm 0.38 \pm 0.34) \times 10^{-3}$, $B(D^-_s \to \tau^- \nu) = (5.00 \pm 0.35 \pm 0.49) \times 10^{-2}$, and $B(D^-_s \to e^- \nu)

Book Dalitz Plot Analysis of the Decay B0 B0bar to K Pi Pi0

Download or read book Dalitz Plot Analysis of the Decay B0 B0bar to K Pi Pi0 written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors report a Dalitz-plot analysis of the charmless hadronic decays of neutral B mesons to K{sup ±}?{sup {-+}}?°. With a sample of (231.8 ± 2.6) x 106?(4S) → B{bar B} decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC, they measure the magnitudes and phases of the intermediate resonant and nonresonant amplitudes for B° and {bar B}° decays and determine the corresponding CP-averaged branching fractions and charge asymmetries. The inclusive branching fraction and CP-violating charge asymmetry are measured to be?(B° → K?−?°) = (35.7{sub -1.5}{sup +2.6} ± 2.2) x 10−6, and?{sub CP} = -0.030{sub -0.051}{sup +0.045} ± 0.055 where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. They observe the decay B° → K*°(892)?° with the branching fraction?(B° → K*°(892)?°) = (3.6{sub -0.8}{sup +0.7} ± 0.4) x 10−6. This measurement differs from zero by 5.6 standard deviations (including the systematic uncertainties). The selected sample also contains B° → {bar D}°?° decays where {bar D}° → K+?−, and they measure?(B° → {bar D}°?°) = (2.93 ± 0.17 {+-} 0.18) x 10−4.

Download or read book First Observation of Fully Reconstructed B0 and Bs0 Decays into Final States Involving an Excited Neutral Charm Meson in LHCb written by Arnau Brossa Gonzalo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-31 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the latest results on the branching fraction and phase space distribution of B0 and Bs0 decays into final states including excited neutral charm mesons. This work represents four years of research, and the book describes in detail all the necessary steps and techniques required to perform a physics analysis of the data recorded by the LHCb experiment in the years 2016–2018. Although the results presented in this book represent the first measurement of such decays, the text is written in a manner accessible to Ph.D. students and early career researchers. Thus, all the contents included in this book are described in a pedagogical way, including technical details that would allow the results to be reproduced in future. In addition to the methodology used to perform these measurements, the book also includes a description of the theoretical background required to interpret the results presented, as well as a technical description of the LHCb detector, which provided the data sample used in this study.

Download or read book Measurement of the B rightarrow P bar p K Branching Fraction and Study of the Decay Dynamics written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a sample of 232 x 106 [Upsilon](4S) 2!B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector, we study the decay B 2!p{bar p}K excluding charmonium decays to p{bar p}. We measure a branching fraction [Beta](B+ 2!p{bar p}K+) = (6.7 ± 0.5 ± 0.4) x 10−6. An enhancement at low p{bar p} mass is observed and the Dalitz plot asymmetry suggests dominance of the penguin amplitude in this B decay. We search for a pentaquark candidate [Theta]*{sup ++} decaying into pK+ in the mass range 1.43 to 2.00 GeV/c2 and set limits on [Beta](B+ 2![Theta]*{sup ++} {bar p}) x [Beta]([Theta]*{sup ++} 2!pK+) at the 10−7 level.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a measurement of the branching fraction of neutral B meson decaying to final states containing a K1 meson, i.e. K1(1270) and K1(1400), and a charged pion. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represent 454 million B{bar B} pairs produced in ee− annihilation. We measure the branching fraction?(B° → K1+?−) = (31.0 ± 2.7 ± 6.9) x 10−6, where the first error quoted is statistical and the second is systematic. In the framework of the K-matrix formalism used to describe these decays, we also set limits on the ratio of the production constants for the K1(1270)+ and K1(1400)+ mesons in B° decays.

Book Measurement of the Ratio of Branching Fractions B D0 K Pi

Download or read book Measurement of the Ratio of Branching Fractions B D0 K Pi written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present a measurement of R{sub B}, the ratio of the branching fraction for the rare decay D° → K?− to that for the Cabibbo-favored decay D° → K−?+. Charge conjugate decays are implicitly included. A signal of 2005 ± 104 events for the decay D° → K+?− is obtained using the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 0.35 fb−1 produced in {bar p}p collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV. Assuming no mixing, they find R{sub B} = [4.05 ± 0.21(stat) ± 0.11(syst)] x 10−3. This measurement is consistent with the world average, and comparable in accuracy with the best measurements from other experiments.
