This book was released on 2017-01-17 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the spring of 2010, Harvard Business School’s graduating class asked HBS professor Clay Christensen to address them—but not on how to apply his principles and thinking to their post-HBS careers. The students wanted to know how to apply his wisdom to their personal lives. He shared with them a set of guidelines that have helped him find meaning in his own life, which led to this now-classic article. Although Christensen’s thinking is rooted in his deep religious faith, these are strategies anyone can use. Since 1922, Harvard Business Review has been a leading source of breakthrough ideas in management practice. The Harvard Business Review Classics series now offers you the opportunity to make these seminal pieces a part of your permanent management library. Each highly readable volume contains a groundbreaking idea that continues to shape best practices and inspire countless managers around the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This year's main conference focused on next-generation wireless and wired broadband networks, sensor networks and emerging applications related to access networks. The main conference received 23 submissions from 15 different countries. After a thorough review process, 9 papers were accepted from the open call, one distinguished researcher was invited to contribute an invited paper and one was invited for a post-deadline submission, yielding 11 technical papers altogether. The 11 technical papers were organized into 4 technical sessions. In addition, four posters were allocated for a poster session during the conference. Within the main program of the conference, two keynote speeches addressed hot topics on emerging trends and focus areas for access networks. The first keynote by Jens Malmodin from Ericsson addressed the energy and carbon footprint of ICT and media services and the second keynote by Peter Szilagyi, Nokia Siemens Networks, addressed self-organizing networks. Collocated together with the main conference of AccessNets 2010 was the First International ICST Workshop on Autonomic Networking and Self-Management in Access Networks (SELFMAGICNETS 2010), which complemented the main conference program with focused coverage on theories and technologies of autonomic networking and self-management. -- from preface.

The book offers a comprehensive overview of physical principles, functions and applications of sensors. It is structured according to the fields of activity of sensors and shows their application by means of typical examples. Measured variables that can be recorded by sensors are e.g. mechanical, dynamic, thermal, electrical and magnetic. Furthermore, optical and acoustical sensors are discussed in detail in the book. The sensor signals are recorded, processed and converted into control signals for actuators. Such sensor systems are also presented.

Download or read book Optimal High Throughput Screening written by Xiaohua Douglas Zhang and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-02-21 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise, self-contained and cohesive book focuses on commonly used and recently developed methods for designing and analyzing high-throughput screening (HTS) experiments from a statistically sound basis. Combining ideas from biology, computing and statistics, the author explains experimental designs and analytic methods that are amenable to rigorous analysis and interpretation of RNAi HTS experiments. The opening chapters are carefully presented to be accessible both to biologists with training only in basic statistics and to computational scientists and statisticians with basic biological knowledge. Biologists will see how new experiment designs and rudimentary data-handling strategies for RNAi HTS experiments can improve their results, whereas analysts will learn how to apply recently developed statistical methods to interpret HTS experiments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the current situation in measurement and analysis of vibrations in production systems with the usage of water jet technology, focusing on sieve analysis and its principle of functioning. The authors compare the sizes of vibration accelerations amplitude with and without the usage of a narrow grain fraction. The data collection and frequency spectrum analysis presented form the basis for further research in this area. It is designed for researchers, educated public, students and university teachers with a technical focus on monitoring and diagnostics of technical equipment.

Download or read book Test bench design for power measurement of inverter operated machines in the medium voltage range written by Schneider, Simon Michael and published by Universitätsverlag der TU Berlin. This book was released on 2018-12-21 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis gives an overview of test bench design for inverter operated Medium Voltage (MV) drives with the focus on the active power measurement. The sources of measurement setup uncertainty are analysed and methods are shown to assess these uncertainties. Further, a possibility is shown to do quantitative uncertainty estimations which are verified with measurements through different measurement setups for MV drives operated with multilevel converters. The influence of measurement transducers, voltage dividers, power meters and data acquisition boards are considered. The digital signal processing is analysed and the possibilities to reduce its uncertainty contribution on an active power measurement is shown. An analysis is made with the conventional measurement devices in the MV-range. The transfer behaviour of the devices and the characteristics of the uncertainty are investigated. Measurements are done on typical medium voltage drives with an uncertainty analysis, which shows the essential aspects of active power measurement. The results show the significance of a measurement setup performance. The investigations on the drives are used to indicate the impact on the determination of the drive efficiency and gives a significant input for further standardisation processes. The handling of measurement uncertainties during active power measurement of drives is shown concerning the permanent topic of energy saving and its efficient use. The work proposes a way of categorising electrical drives in energy efficiency classes and to make their determination comparable.
