This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication provides information on methods and practices for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of training and assistance to help nuclear facility managers establish and maintain effective training programmes for nuclear power plant personnel. The principles of effective training provide the overall structure needed to ensure that nuclear training programmes have processes in place to provide significant added value to nuclear power plant operations by improved safety, quality and production.

Book Systematic Approach to Training for Nuclear Facility Personnel Processes Methodology and Practices

Download or read book Systematic Approach to Training for Nuclear Facility Personnel Processes Methodology and Practices written by IAEA and published by International Atomic Energy Agency. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Training is an important tool to achieve and maintain the required competence of personnel working in nuclear facilities. Effective training and qualification of personnel are necessary for the achievement of high safety and efficiency standards in nuclear facility performance. Training and qualification combined is a key feature of the integrated management systems of nuclear facilities. It is these considerations that led to this publication which consolidates the experience gained worldwide using the systematic approach to training (SAT) for nuclear facility personnel. It provides a basis for establishing and sustaining the quality and reliability of training and qualification for all main categories of nuclear facility personnel. SAT has proved its effectiveness in nuclear and other safety critical industries over decades and is recognized as the best international practice in nuclear training. The publication details the processes and methodology, presents good practices and offers recommendations from the experts in the field on the entire set of activities within the SAT–based training methodology and provides examples of SAT application. It builds on, and supersedes, guidance provided in an earlier IAEA publication (Technical Report Series 380, Nuclear Power Plant Personnel Training and its Evaluation: A Guidebook). A key feature of this publication is demonstrating how SAT–based training serves as one of the important processes in a nuclear facility management system and how it integrates with other processes.

Book Evaluation of Training Programs and Entry level Qualifications for Nuclear power plant Control room Personnel Based on the Systems Approach to Training

Download or read book Evaluation of Training Programs and Entry level Qualifications for Nuclear power plant Control room Personnel Based on the Systems Approach to Training written by and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes results of research sponsored by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research to initiate the use of the Systems Approach to Training in the evaluation of training programs and entry level qualifications for nuclear power plant (NPP) personnel. Variables (performance shaping factors) of potential importance to personnel selection and training are identified, and research to more rigorously define an operationally useful taxonomy of those variables is recommended. A high-level model of the Systems Approach to Training for use in the nuclear industry, which could serve as a model for NRC evaluation of industry programs, is presented. The model is consistent with current publically stated NRC policy, with the approach being followed by the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations, and with current training technology. Checklists to be used by NRC evaluators to assess training programs for NPP control-room personnel are proposed which are based on this model.

Book Managing Nuclear Projects

Download or read book Managing Nuclear Projects written by Jas Devgun and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-08-31 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In addition to the nuclear power industry, the nuclear field has extensive projects and activities in the areas of research reactors, medical isotope production, decommissioning, and remediation of contaminated sites. Managing nuclear projects focuses on the management aspects of nuclear projects in a wide range of areas with emphasis on process, requirements, and lessons learned.Part one provides a general overview of the nuclear industry including basic principles for managing nuclear projects, nuclear safety culture, management of worker risk, training, and management of complex projects. Part two focuses on managing reactor projects with discussion on a variety of topics including management of research reactor projects, medical radioisotope production, power reactor modifications, power uprates, outage management, and management of nuclear-related R&D. Chapters in part three highlight the areas of radioactive waste and spent fuel management, reactor decommissioning, and remediation of radioactively contaminated sites. Finally, part four explores regulation, guidance and emergency management in the nuclear industry. Chapters discuss quality assurance and auditing programs, licensing procedures for nuclear installations, emergency preparedness, management of nuclear crises, and international nuclear cooperation. With its distinguished editor and contributors, Managing Nuclear Projects is a valuable resource for project managers, plant managers, engineers, regulators, training professionals, consultants, and academics. - Examines the basic principles of managing nuclear projects focussing on processes and requirements - Discusses the management of reactor projects - Explores regulation, guidance and emergency management in the nuclear industry

Book Perspectives of Training Evaluation Among Nuclear Power Training Professionals and Line Managers

Download or read book Perspectives of Training Evaluation Among Nuclear Power Training Professionals and Line Managers written by Eul-Kyoo Bae and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore perspectives of training evaluation among training professionals and line managers in U.S. nuclear power plants. The conceptual framework identified three perspectives of evaluation of training: judgment, improvement, and learning. The study sought to determine the distinctiveness of these perspectives and whether training professionals and line managers differed on which perspective was most important to them. For this study, a survey was developed that included items representing each of the perspective and was administered to 583 line managers and training professionals in 65 U.S. nuclear power plants. The collected data was analyzed with the methods of structural equation modeling, multivariate analysis of variance, and descriptive statistics. The results showed that a three-factor model representing the three perspectives of training evaluation reasonably fit the data from the line managers and training professionals, while there was a high correlation between improvement and learning perspectives and there were correlations among some sets of items regarding the information of financial impacts of training, job analysis, instructional quality, and interventionist evaluation. The results also showed that there were no significant differences between line manager and training professional groups on the three perspectives, while evaluations of financial impact, factors affecting transfer of training, and interventionist evaluation were neglected despite their importance. It was also found that the extent to which line managers and training professionals received the evaluation information affected the level of satisfaction with this information. The results support the existence of three perspectives of training evaluation among the respondents. If true beyond the current research setting, such a conclusion has implications for designing future training evaluations. In practice, the three perspectives provide a potential frame for training evaluation that has greater theoretical support than some current training evaluation models. That training managers and line managers did not differ in their perspective of training evaluation may be unique aspect of the nuclear industry. Future studies should seek to further confirm the existence of the three perspectives of training evaluation, recognizing the inherent difficulty in obtaining matched sets of data from training professionals and line managers across numerous organizations.
