Book excerpt: Meandering Brush is a journey of the soul. It is a marriage of beautiful landscapes and verses that express emotions in all their myriad hues. The soulful paintings and poignant verses tell the story of many hearts. A story of love in all its hues. Soul heals with the stimulus it receives from the 5 senses. Sight is one of them. Aligned with the concept of “healing the soul”, these soul landscapes and verses spread the powerful and healing energy of colours and elements of nature through art. This is a one of its kind coffee table book exhibit of artwork and poetry. The book offers a collection of beautiful paintings under the theme of ‘Soul Landscapes” that bring the healing energy of nature and colours into your environment. And the soulful poems give wings to the heart. Art mirrors life. And life is expressed through art. Meandering Brush, through its winding forests and colours, woven by the artist’s brush, make so many feelings come alive. As the writer-artist Nehab says, “Regrets there are none. It is just a winter mood. Wine is passion red. Sky is stormy blue.” Absorb the power of emotions.

Book Theoretical Morphodynamics River Meandering

Download or read book Theoretical Morphodynamics River Meandering written by Giovanni Seminara and published by Firenze University Press. This book was released on 2024-04-05 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph discusses the mechanics of Meandering Rivers with the help of the mathematical and modeling tools built up in the previous monograph of the same Authors (monograph 1 of the present series). After introducing the reader to the ubiquitous character of meandering streams, we discuss the hydrodynamics of curved channels with fixed beds and banks. Next, we extend the analysis to account for the mobile character of the bed and show that it gives rise to the alternate sequence of riffles and pools that characterize river meanders. Allowing for the erodible character of the river banks then allows to build up a rational theory of meander formation able to explain most of the features observed in nature: meander growth, migration, skewing, multiple loops, cutoffs and meander belts.

Book J C Nichols and the Shaping of Kansas City

Download or read book J C Nichols and the Shaping of Kansas City written by William S. Worley and published by University of Missouri Press. This book was released on 2013-08-07 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Born and reared on the outskirts of Kansas City in Olathe, Kansas, Jesse Clyde Nichols (1880-1950) was a creative genius in land development. He grew up witnessing the cycles of development and decline characteristics of Kansas City and other American cities during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These early memories contributed to his interest in real estate and led him to pursue his goal of neighborhoods in Kansas City, an idea unfamiliar to that city and a rarity across the United States. J.C. Nichols was one of the first developers in the country to lure buyers with a combination of such attractions as paved streets, sidewalks, landscaped areas, and access to water and sewers. He also initiated restrictive covenants and to control the use of structures built in and around his neighborhoods. In addition, Nichols was involved in the placement of services such as schools, churches, and recreation and shopping areas, all of which were essential to the success of his developments. In 1923, Nichols and his company developed the Country Club Plaza, the first of many regional shopping centers built in anticipation of the increased use of automobiles. Known throughout the United States, the Plaza is a lasting tribute to the creativity of J.C. Nichols and his legacy to the United States. With single-mindedness of purpose and unwavering devotion to achievement, J.C. Nichols left an indelible imprint on the Kansas City metropolitan area, and thereby influenced the design and development of major residential and commercial areas throughout the United States as well. Based on extensive research, J.C. Nichols and the Shaping of Kansas City is a valuable study of one of the most influential entrepreneurs in American land development.

Book Dick Watkins

Download or read book Dick Watkins written by Mary Eagle and published by ANU Press. This book was released on 2024-09-17 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dick Watkins belongs to the generation of artists whose careers were launched at the high-flying end of American-based Abstraction. Almost immediately he faced up to the abrupt end of the Modern era. Culture was no longer to be framed by ‘progress’. In 1970, taking stock of the situation, he announced that he was a copyist, there being no such thing as a new creation in art, shaped as it was by visual languages. Nor did he intend to limit his curiosity about the relation of art to life by restricting himself to a ‘personal’ style. There followed a long and passionately adventurous exploration into many subjects and styles, during which Watkins was often the first to signal changes taking place in Western culture. The result is that for half a century he has been a major, if controversial figure in Australian art.

Book Meander Belt

Download or read book Meander Belt written by M. Randal O'Wain and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2019-10-01 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Meander Belt M. Randal O'Wain offers a reflection on how a working-class boy from Memphis, Tennessee, came to fall in love with language, reading, writing, and the larger world outside of the American South. This memoir examines what it means for the son of a carpenter to value mental rather than physical labor and what this does to his relationship with his family, whose livelihood and sensibility are decidedly blue collar. Straining the father-son bond further, O'Wain leaves home to find a life outside Memphis, roaming from place to place, finding odd jobs, and touring with his band. From memory and observation, O'Wain assembles a subtle and spare portrait of his roots, family, and ultimately discovers that his working-class upbringing is not so antithetical to the man he has become.

Book Stochastic Integral Equations and Rainfall Runoff Models

Download or read book Stochastic Integral Equations and Rainfall Runoff Models written by Theodore V. Hromadka II and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of rainfall-runoff modeling involves a wide spectrum of topics. Fundamental to each topic is the problem of accurately computing runoff at a point given rainfall data at another point. The fact that there is currently no one universally accepted approach to computing runoff, given rainfall data, indicates that a purely deter ministic solution to the problem has not yet been found. The technology employed in the modern rainfall-runoff models has evolved substantially over the last two decades, with computer models becoming increasingly more complex in their detail of describing the hydrologic and hydraulic processes which occur in the catchment. But despite the advances in including this additional detail, the level of error in runoff estimates (given rainfall) does not seem to be significantly changed with increasing model complexity; in fact it is not uncommon for the model's level of accuracy to deteriorate with increasing complexity. In a latter section of this chapter, a literature review of the state-of-the-art in rainfall-runoff modeling is compiled which includes many of the concerns noted by rainfall-runoff modelers. The review indicates that there is still no deterministic solution to the rainfall-runoff modeling problem, and that the error in runoff estimates produced from rainfall-runoff models is of such magnitude that they should not be simply ignored.
