Download or read book Humble Beginnings Successfully to the Winning Post written by Anwar Paulsen and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2022-11-02 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Humble beginnings to ultimate success reaching the winning post. Almost like a rags to riches life story. Not riches in monetary values or materialistic achievements but more personal goals achieved throughout my life. In the same breath we thank my Creator for all the things in life given to us free of charge eg. the air that we breath, our sight, our hearing, our taste, our smell and many more. Our parents struggled in life to rear us and give us everything a child could ask for. We had no wealth or inheritance but are always thankful to our parents who instilled in us love, passion, the ability to help others and to be good to our neighbours and the elders. As a child I always had the energy and goal to achieve high expectations, reaching for the ultimate peak in society. Sport was my passion. I excelled in athletics being the fastest sprinter in my time, in my age group and in my province. I was also a successful professional soccer player. Toured South Africa, played against top soccer teams in my country of birth and rubbed shoulders against some of the world's greatest soccer legends. I was very successful in the Retail world in Johannesburg, South Africa where many employees reported to me directly or indirectly. Retail was my life for over 30 years and I was employed by Woolworths. I married the most beautiful loving mother of my three children. Life had many ups and downs but we achieved many goals together. We enjoyed a short 22 years marriage until the day arrived when the Almighty took her away from us. After her passing we immigrated to Australia starting a new life in a new country. Australia to us was the best move. We can plan but the Almighty plans better. We opened our own business which lasted for over 20 years until retirement. I am thankful to my parents, my siblings, my children, friends and family and above all, my Creator. I hope that whoever reads my story will be inspired, motivated and achieve the highest level in life, Who knows, maybe a movie producer will pick up my story one day and transfer it on the big screen. God willing. In Shaa Allah.

Download or read book Everyday Life in the Covid 19 Pandemic written by Nick Clarke and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2024-04-18 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How will the Covid-19 pandemic be remembered? What did it mean to people? How did it feel? This book provides a compelling account of the pandemic as it was experienced in the UK. Everyday Life in the Covid-19 Pandemic is a democratic history based on the 5,000 diaries collected by Mass Observation on 12 May 2020. It is a record of what many of these diarists wrote, from a wide range of positions, in a variety of voices and on a wealth of different subjects. The book shines a light on their lives on the day in question, their experiences during the first two months of the pandemic, and their hopes and fears for the coming months and years. The diaries capture much of everyday life in the pandemic for millions of people in the UK and beyond: the activities, events, and rituals (from funerals to working from home); the sites and stages (from shops to Zoom); the roles and categories (from 'key workers' to 'vulnerable groups'); the frames (from luck to 'the new normal'); and the moods (from anxiety to grief). In these diaries, we see what people did when the pandemic arrived in the UK, but also what people thought and felt – how they interpreted the pandemic experience and gave it meaning. We see both how the nation responded and the nation who responded. The book also includes two essays offering expert contextualisation of the diaries and discussion of their value for narrating the pandemic and presenting everyday life.

Download or read book Education of a Wandering Young Man written by C S Lam and published by Partridge Publishing Singapore. This book was released on 2021-07-19 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Convinced that an overseas education with ample opportunities for traveling is superior to a local one, Lam took up a Singapore government scholarship to study in Loughborough, UK. Beginning with the very first winter vacation in Germany, where he travelled solo and almost lost his life on a highway in Cologne, he tried to visit a different country every vacation. Whenever possible, he would stay with locals so as to learn about their culture and way of life, such as working on a kibbutz in Israel, lingering on a farm in Zambia, and trekking from one village to another in the Kelabit Highlands in Sarawak. In the five years covered in this book, he had set foot on five continents and interacted with people of diverse nationalities and ethnic tribes. The experiences had enriched his life beyond the confines of the four walls of a classroom; they constituted a form of education which he considers superior to the conventional approach through books and the internet. He believes that what one learns by rote, one is likely to forget later, but what one has personally experienced, one is likely to remember for life. For this reason, he chose to experience life.

Book excerpt: Our lives are full of satori moments—powerful snippets of time that, when recognized, invite us to awaken, become aware, be present, and find enlightenment. Through inspiring personal stories and wisdom acquired over time, Joni Kirby teaches us that we do not need to be trained to be. Instead, she encourages us to live as Rylan did—awakened, dancing, and celebrating life in the moment. As she leads others on the satori journey of reawakening, also known as Rylan’s untrainings, she reminds us of who we are deep inside, to love, live, and learn in the moment, to laugh often, to remember that all is well because we are one, to embrace the joy that is always within, to breathe in the space of stillness between thoughts, and to intentionally plant our life’s garden—all while embracing the beauty of life. Satori Moments shares anecdotes and wisdom intended to inspire anyone interested in finding their way back to their true selves and the I-ness within.

It also includes other people’s stories which I’ve heard from the radio or read from social media. Actually if I would be going to describe this pandemic it would be like a comet which accidentally falls to the earth. It creates a big impact and causes lots of chaos to us. These are the reasons why I wrote this book: I want to share these stories to serve as an inspiration to everyone; to remind them in not giving up and to help them remember the important lessons about life. In addition, the purpose of this work is to let the people know (especially the next generation) about the learning while taking the journey in the midst of COVID-19.
