Book Advances in the Theory of Fr chet Spaces

Download or read book Advances in the Theory of Fr chet Spaces written by T. Terziogammalu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frechet spaces have been studied since the days of Banach. These spaces, their inductive limits and their duals played a prominent role in the development of the theory of locally convex spaces. Also they are natural tools in many areas of real and complex analysis. The pioneering work of Grothendieck in the fifties has been one of the important sources of inspiration for research in the theory of Frechet spaces. A structure theory of nuclear Frechet spaces emerged and some important questions posed by Grothendieck were settled in the seventies. In particular, subspaces and quotient spaces of stable nuclear power series spaces were completely characterized. In the last years it has become increasingly clear that the methods used in the structure theory of nuclear Frechet spaces actually provide new insight to linear problems in diverse branches of analysis and lead to solutions of some classical problems. The unifying theme at our Workshop was the recent developments in the theory of the projective limit functor. This is appropriate because of the important role this theory had in the recent research. The main results of the structure theory of nuclear Frechet spaces can be formulated and proved within the framework of this theory. A major area of application of the theory of the projective limit functor is to decide when a linear operator is surjective and, if it is, to determine whether it has a continuous right inverse.

Book Overconvergence in Complex Approximation

Download or read book Overconvergence in Complex Approximation written by Sorin G. Gal and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph deals with the quantitative overconvergence phenomenon in complex approximation by various operators. The book is divided into three chapters. First, the results for the Schurer-Faber operator, Beta operators of first kind, Bernstein-Durrmeyer-type operators and Lorentz operator are presented. The main focus is on results for several q-Bernstein kind of operators with q > 1, when the geometric order of approximation 1/qn is obtained not only in complex compact disks but also in quaternion compact disks and in other compact subsets of the complex plane. The focus then shifts to quantitative overconvergence and convolution overconvergence results for the complex potentials generated by the Beta and Gamma Euler's functions. Finally quantitative overconvergence results for the most classical orthogonal expansions (of Chebyshev, Legendre, Hermite, Laguerre and Gegenbauer kinds) attached to vector-valued functions are presented. Each chapter concludes with a notes and open problems section, thus providing stimulation for further research. An extensive bibliography and index complete the text. This book is suitable for researchers and graduate students working in complex approximation and its applications, mathematical analysis and numerical analysis.

Book Generalized Functions and Their Applications

Download or read book Generalized Functions and Their Applications written by R.S. Pathak and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Symposium on Generalized Functions and Their Applications was organized by the Department of Mathematics, Banaras Hindu University, and held December 23-26, 1991, on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of the university. More than a hundred mathematicians from ten countries participated in the deliberations of the symposium. Thirty lectures were delivered on a variety of topics within the area. The contributions to the proceedings of the symposium are, with a few exceptions, expanded versions of the lectures delivered by the invited speakers. The survey papers by Komatsu and Hoskins and Sousa Pinto provide an up-to-date account of the theory of hyperfunctions, ultradistributions and microfunctions, and the nonstandard theory of new generalized functions, respectively; those by Stankovic and Kanwal deal with structures and asymptotics. Choquet-Bruhat's work studies generalized functions on manifold and gives applications to shocks and discrete models. The other contributions relate to contemporary problems and achievements in theory and applications, especially in the theory of partial differential equations, differential geometry, mechanics, mathematical physics, and systems science. The proceedings give a very clear impression of the present state of the art in this field and contain many challenges, ideas, and open problems. The volume is very helpful for a broad spectrum of readers: graduate students to mathematical researchers.

Book Dyadic Walsh Analysis from 1924 Onwards Walsh Gibbs Butzer Dyadic Differentiation in Science Volume 1 Foundations

Download or read book Dyadic Walsh Analysis from 1924 Onwards Walsh Gibbs Butzer Dyadic Differentiation in Science Volume 1 Foundations written by Radomir Stankovic and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-29 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dyadic (Walsh) analysis emerged as a new research area in applied mathematics and engineering in early seventies within attempts to provide answers to demands from practice related to application of spectral analysis of different classes of signals, including audio, video, sonar, and radar signals. In the meantime, it evolved in a mature mathematical discipline with fundamental results and important features providing basis for various applications. The book will provide fundamentals of the area through reprinting carefully selected earlier publications followed by overview of recent results concerning particular subjects in the area written by experts, most of them being founders of the field, and some of their followers. In this way, this first volume of the two volume book offers a rather complete coverage of the development of dyadic Walsh analysis, and provides a deep insight into its mathematical foundations necessary for consideration of generalizations and applications that are the subject of the second volume. The presented theory is quite sufficient to be a basis for further research in the subject area as well as to be applied in solving certain new problems or improving existing solutions for tasks in the areas which motivated development of the dyadic analysis.

Book Banach Limit and Applications

Download or read book Banach Limit and Applications written by Gokulananda Das and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-11-23 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Banach Limit and Applications provides all the results in the area of Banach Limit, its extensions, generalizations, and applications to various fields in one go (as far as possible). All the results in this field, after Banach introduced this concept in 1932, were scattered till now. Sublinear functionals generating and dominating Banach Limit, unique Banach Limit (almost convergence), invariant means and invariant limits, absolute and strong almost convergence, applications to ergodicity, law of large numbers, Fourier series, uniform distribution of sequences, uniform density, core theorems, and functional Banach limits are discussed in this book. The discovery of functional analysis, such as the Hahn-Banach Theorem and the Banach-Steinhaus Theorem, helped the researchers to develop a modern, rich, and unified theory of sequence spaces by encompassing classical summability theory via matrix transformations and the topics related to sequence spaces, which arose from the concept of Banach limits, all of which are presented in this book. The unique features of this book are as follows: All the results in this area which were scattered till now are in one place. The book is the first of its kind in the sense that there is no other competitive book. The contents of this monograph did not appear in any book form before. The audience of this book are the researchers in this area and Ph.D. and advanced master’s students. The book is suitable for one- or two-semester course work for Ph.D. students, M.S. students in North America and Europe, and M.Phil. and master’s students in India.

Book Controlled Branching Processes

Download or read book Controlled Branching Processes written by Miguel González Velasco and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-03-13 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive discussion of the available results for discrete time branching processes with random control functions. The independence of individuals’ reproduction is a fundamental assumption in the classical branching processes. Alternatively, the controlled branching processes (CBPs) allow the number of reproductive individuals in one generation to decrease or increase depending on the size of the previous generation. Generating a wide range of behaviors, the CBPs have been successfully used as modeling tools in diverse areas of applications.
