Book excerpt: To train your ear, one must learn to distinguish sounds. Acquiring Perfect Pitch requires in addition to remember pitches. In early childhood we collect the vast part of our relevant sound memory by imitating the sounds with our vocal cords. However, our brain doesn't stop there. At a later age we can still learn a new foreign language. Three new method's to acquire Absolute Pitch and Relative Pitch, supported by software feedback, are presented in this book. The first method, the Singing Funnel method, lets you acquire Absolute Pitch like a foreign language. The second method, the Octave Anchor Pithes method helps you to orientate yourself in the pitch realm. The last method, the Interval Overtone method, improves your interval hearing.

Book Assistive Technology Assessment Handbook

Download or read book Assistive Technology Assessment Handbook written by Stefano Federici and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Assistive Technology Assessment Handbook, Second Edition, proposes an international ideal model for the assistive technology assessment process, outlining how this model can be applied in practice to re-conceptualize the phases of an assistive technology delivery system according to the biopsychosocial model of disability. The model provides reference guidelines for evidence-based practice, guiding both public and private centers that wish to compare, evaluate, and improve their ability to match a person with the correct technology model. This second edition also offers a contribution to the Global Cooperation on Assistive Technology (GATE) initiative, whose activities are strongly focused on the assistive products service delivery model. Organized into three parts, the handbook: gives readers a toolkit for performing assessments; describes the roles of the assessment team members, among them the new profession of psychotechnologist; and reviews technologies for rehabilitation and independent living, including brain–computer interfaces, exoskeletons, and technologies for music therapy. Edited by Stefano Federici and Marcia J. Scherer, this cross-cultural handbook includes contributions from leading experts across five continents, offering a framework for future practice and research.

Book Extracting Spatial Information from Historical Maps

Download or read book Extracting Spatial Information from Historical Maps written by Benedikt Budig and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-11-23 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historical maps are fascinating documents and a valuable source of information for scientists of various disciplines. Many of these maps are available as scanned bitmap images, but in order to make them searchable in useful ways, a structured representation of the contained information is desirable. This book deals with the extraction of spatial information from historical maps. This cannot be expected to be solved fully automatically (since it involves difficult semantics), but is also too tedious to be done manually at scale. The methodology used in this book combines the strengths of both computers and humans: it describes efficient algorithms to largely automate information extraction tasks and pairs these algorithms with smart user interactions to handle what is not understood by the algorithm. The effectiveness of this approach is shown for various kinds of spatial documents from the 16th to the early 20th century.
