This book was released on 2022-10-16 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Battle Against COVID-19 Filipino American Healthcare Workers on the Frontlines of the Pandemic Response is a tribute to all health and essential workers who provide critical services to save lives. These frontliners have risked their lives during this pandemic and sadly, a significant number have succumbed to the deadly virus. Many of them were Filipino American nurses who were adversely and disproportionately affected while serving in critical care and hospital intensive care units. This book brings together some of the voices of these modern-day heroes, highlighting their risks and fears particularly in the early days of the pandemic. The book recounts the unprecedented challenges they faced - their sadness, frustrations, and coping mechanisms amid a life-altering global health crisis. As the world continues to strive to get back to a new kind of normal, the book provides perspectives on continuing efforts to contain the virus, including scientific breakthroughs, and government-led ways to at least transition from pandemic to endemic phase. While it may take time to fully understand the longer-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, one thing is certain. Dedicated and brave frontline healthcare workers will continue to do what they know best -provide critical attention, supportive care, and lifesaving interventions.

Download or read book Applied Social Marketing and Quality of Life written by M. Mercedes Galan-Ladero and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-12-02 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses how various social marketing campaigns have taken up and had an impact on important aspects of quality of life across the world. The chapters bring up case studies from different regions, showing how successful social marketing campaigns have been instrumental in addressing public health challenges, discrimination and exclusion, violence, and inequity; and in changing public perceptions in different countries and through public and nonprofit organizations, but also through businesses. Thus, this book approaches social marketing from a quality-of-life (QOL) marketing philosophy, taking an international perspective. It includes 26 case studies discussing how social marketing campaigns were developed and implemented in specific cases related to disease prevention and risk behavior, safe and healthy lifestyles, and inclusion and interpersonal relationships. It also covers social marketing campaigns related to COVID-19 in various countries. The book is both comprehensive and provides in-depth understanding of every case, and is useful for research, policy making, development communication and social marketing. Graduate students, researchers, practitioners, and social marketers alike will find this book interesting.

Book Read Me Liberals

Download or read book Read Me Liberals written by Stacey Smith and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2023-08-11 with total page 821 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Read Me, Liberals" is an attempt to awaken a certain class of people that are morally at risk. The modern United States political system is dominated by a two-party system, Democrats and Republicans. Either party is perfect nor will the ever be perfect, but the Democratic party has gone so far left it is a threat to the freedom and safety of American citizens. The modern Democratic party and their allies want to dramatically alter the United States to their fascist ideology. They want total control of you and I by any means necessary. They want to control how you think and what you can say. Most importantly they want you to be submissive to a complete totalitarian government control. This book exposes all the hypocrisy, corruption, and moral insanity that comes from the "left". Most importantly it exposes the two-tiered justice system, one for Democrats and one for the rest of us. This book is meant to target liberals, democrats, and independents but will help educate conservatives and Republicans as well. I challenge anyone that loves the United States to read this and help save this country while we still can. Liberals will continue to push their one-world order agenda until they get what they want. The United States is more politically divided than any other time in history and we need to come together somehow.

Download or read book Portraits for NHS Heroes written by Tom Croft and published by Bloomsbury Caravel. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All royalties, a minimum of £2.50 from the sale of each book, will be paid to NHS Charities Together (registered charity no. 1186569) to fund vital projects. When the UK went into lockdown in March 2020 to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus, artist Tom Croft offered to paint an NHS key worker's portrait for free. Unsure how to help and offer his support, he wanted to capture and record the bravery and heroism of frontline workers who were risking their physical and mental health for our wellbeing. Tom suggested that other artists might want to do the same. He made his offer via video message on Instagram and was immediately contacted by Harriet Durkin, a nurse at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, who had contracted Covid-19 and, now recovered, was about to return to the frontline. Tom's portrait of Harriet, wearing PPE, was the first in what became a global art project. The response to the initiative was staggering and Tom personally paired up 500 artists and NHS workers in the first two weeks. When numbers reached the thousands, Tom set up a traffic light system so that artists and frontline workers could match themselves. Portraits in all mediums followed, from oils to pencil, sculpture to ceramic, mosaic to mural. This book presents a selection of these remarkable images. Some are by leading artists such as Alastair Adams and Mary Jane Ansell, and they are showcased here as both a celebration and a remembrance, in physical form, of the dedication of our NHS key workers. 'I just couldn't imagine what it must be like to have to put on your PPE and head into the frontline of the pandemic, so I wanted to try and thank NHS workers in some small way. We are indebted to them, so to be able to commemorate, celebrate and record their experiences through portraiture felt fitting. This collection will stand as a permanent record of their bravery in a time of national crisis.' Tom Croft

Book The Plague Years

  • Author : Michael Titlestad
  • Publisher : Taylor & Francis
  • Release : 2022-08-15
  • ISBN : 1000631842
  • Pages : 341 pages

Download or read book The Plague Years written by Michael Titlestad and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-08-15 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Plague Years collects scholarly and essayistic reflections on literary, visual, and sonic representations of the COVID-19 and other pandemics. These are placed alongside poetry and short fiction written in the first two years of quarantine or isolation. This range expresses the intellectual and imaginative struggle and ingenuity entailed in coming to terms with the rampant spread of disease and its emotional, cultural, and political consequences. The contributions are from diverse contexts: Africa (from Egypt to South Africa), China, Japan, the US, and Scandinavia. They consider some of the array of contemporary engagements: poems translated from Mandarin about the traumas of the frontline, Chinese calligraphic poetry printed on cartons of PPE, comments on the literary history of representing epidemics and pandemics, political analyses of the post-truth present, and the role of life-writing and gaming in an interrupted world. Given the generative and creative obliquity of many of its parts, this collection shifts how one thinks about the diseased present and the archival pasts on which it draws. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of English Studies in Africa.
