Book Martin Lebowitz

Download or read book Martin Lebowitz written by Martin Lebowitz and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is part of a series of separately titled books concerning the gospel of salvation based on the CORNERSTONE teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and the FOUNDATION teachings of the apostles and prophets. It consists of 4 booklets. Booklet One reveals the true meaning of "to be baptized in Holy Spirit." Booklet Two reveals the true meaning of "Eating My flesh and drinking My blood." Booklet Three reveals the true meaning of the Lord Jesus Christ washing the feet of His disciples. Booklet Four reveals the true meaning of non-literal water in New Testament. There are two major different understanding of "baptism in Holy Spirit." One group of "Christians" believe that "baptism in Holy Spirit" is the same as "born from the Spirit" while the other group of "Christians" believe that "baptism in Holy Spirit" is different from "born from the Spirit." This is the reason for Booklet One. Many "Christians" believe that when the Lord Jesus Christ told the Jews to "eat My flesh and drink My blood" it was in reference to the partaking of the Lord's Table. This is the reason for this Booklet Two. There are also "Christian" groups who practice the literal washing of feet of other "Christians" to conform to the command of the Lord Jesus Christ in John 13:4-17. Is this practice in conformance to the true meaning of the Lord Jesus Christ' command? Booklet Three reveals the true meaning of the Lord's command to His disciples to wash each other's feet. Booklet Four is included to reveal the biblical meaning of the figurative usage of the word "water" in the New Testament Scriptures. If believers are to build up into the unity of the faith they must all have the same understanding of all the commandments and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ otherwise any differents in understanding and practice of the commandments and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ will lead to disunity and ultimately the total contamination of the gospel of salvation, which has already come to pass.

In "elegant, finely honed prose" (The Washington Post Book World), Lebowitz limns the vicissitudes of contemporary urban life—its fads, trends, crazes, morals, and fashions. Book The Passionate Liberal The Political and Legal Ideas of Jerome Frank

Download or read book The Passionate Liberal The Political and Legal Ideas of Jerome Frank written by W.E. Volkomer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jerome Frank was one of the most important spokesmen for the generation of liberal intellectuals who came to maturity during the period of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal. He was never a major figure in public life and thus never became a symbol of the period as did President Roosevelt, Henry Wallace, Harry Hopkins, or others whose positions made their views acces sible to the entire reading and listening public. While these men represented the popular view of the New Deal with its dedication to the elimination of the economic misery which beset the nation during the nineteen thirties, Frank may be the New Deal figure who most accurately summarized the intellectual currents of the period. As is the case with all thinkers, most of the ideas Frank presented in his books, articles, speeches, and in actual practice in governmental service were drawn from the works of other men. He brought together many diverse strains of thought, contributed some of his own ideas, and wove these to gether into a pattern which typifies the intellectual atmosphere that was the New Deal.

Book Marguerite Young Our Darling

Download or read book Marguerite Young Our Darling written by Miriam Fuchs and published by Dalkey Archive Press. This book was released on 1994 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With Miss MacIntosh, My Darling (1965) Marguerite Young established herself as one of the greatest writers of our time, and yet she has been slow to attract critical attention. Miriam Fuchs remedies that defect with the first book-length study of her work, a gathering of personal reminiscences and appreciative essays that explore the breadth of Young's achievement. Part 1 consists of tributes and recollections by such writers as Anne Tyler, Amy Clampitt, Stanley Kunitz, Anna Balakian, among other friends and students. Part 2 offers a dozen critical essays on her work, from Angel in the Forest to Young's forthcoming biography of Eugene Debs, with special attention to the wonders of Miss MacIntosh, My Darling. Part 3 consists of two interviews with Young. Also included are a dozen photos, most published here for the first time, and a chronology by Martha J. Sattler.

Book Fundamental Problems of Gauge Field Theory

Download or read book Fundamental Problems of Gauge Field Theory written by G. Velo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sixth Ettore Majorana International School of Mathematical Physics was held at the Centro della Cultura Scientifica Erice, Sicily, 1-14 July 1985. The present volume collects lecture notes on the ses sion which was devoted to Fundamental Problems of Gauge Field Theory. The School was a NATO Advanced Study Institute sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Public Education, the Italian Ministry of Scientific and Technological Research and the Regional Sicilian Government. As a result of the experimental and theoretical developments of the last two decades, gauge field theory, in one form or another, now pro vides the standard language for the description of Nature; QCD and the standard model of the electroweak interactions illustrate this point. It is a basic task of mathematical physics to provide a solid foundation for these developments by putting the theory in a physically transparent and mathematically rigorous form. The lectures and seminars of the school concentrated on the many unsolved problems which arise here, and on the general ideas and methods which have been proposed for their solution. In particular, we mention the use of rigorous renormalization group methods to obtain control over the continuum limit of lattice gauge field theories, the explora tion of the extraordinary enigmatic connections between Kac-Moody Virasoro algebras and string theory, and the systematic use of the theory of local algebras and indefinite metric spaces to classify the charged C* states in gauge field theories.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together writers, translators, poets, and leading scholars of cultural theory, literary theory, comparative literature, philosophy, history, political science, music studies, and education, The Wounds of Possibility aims to offer an in-depth and wide-ranging study of George Steiner’s imposing body of work. This book is a timely volume of important essays on one of the most provocative thinkers, critics, and philosophers now writing. During an era in which the question of the ethical and of the status of the work of art, and its relation to the theological dimension, has returned with renewed urgency, Steiner’s work provides rich resources for reflection and it is hoped that the volume will stand on its own as a rich, nuanced accompaniment to the reading of Steiner’s work. With their broad range of thematic foci, theoretical approaches, and stunning constellations of quoted material from different backgrounds, all the essays in the book try to reflect upon the relation between human identity and language, ethics and literature, philosophy and art, and they all offer what we regard as being the most comprehensive engagement with Steiner’s work to date.

Book The Fabric of the Heavens

  • Author : Stephen Toulmin
  • Publisher : University of Chicago Press
  • Release : 1999-11

Download or read book The Fabric of the Heavens written by Stephen Toulmin and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1999-11 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of our relationship with the stars and their celestial cousins is long, involving, and full of surprises. The Fabric of the Heavens, by science historians Stephen Toulmin and June Goodfield, outlines thinking about astronomy and dynamics from "pre-theoretical" Babylonian times to the Newtonian revolution that seeded our modern conceptions of space. Fully integrating the two cultures of science and the humanities, the authors find evidence of new thinking in Milton's writing and medieval tapestries as well as classic scientific and pre-scientific works. Using language that is beautiful, compelling and precise, they trace the threads of history which are woven into today's science (which, they predict, will find itself woven into something even more startlingly unrecognisable in years hence). Why were the ancients so fascinated by the sky and stars? Interestingly, it seems that their concerns were mostly practical; theological significance took longer to attach itself to the patterns up above. Agricultural and navigational concerns, once resolved, gave way to deeper philosophical, mythological and religious curiosity--which used the mathematical tools of its predecessors to great effect. The lives and works of Aristotle, Copernicus, Galileo and Newton are all thoroughly explored, and it is easier to see the continuity between them and their contemporaries in the breadth of this writing. First published in 1962, The Fabric of the Heavens was one of the first postmodern studies of the development of physical science; even were it not such a pleasure to read, it would still merit careful study.
