True marriages are a blessing, but the consequences that come from a bad marriage are not experiences anyone wishes to live with as these could be cancerous to personal health, families, societies and nations. As every day realities set in, some marriages come across to the dispassionate observer as simply struggling to thrive. Some marriages may appear to be in good health but lack substance. While some fall apart along the way, most seem to be enduring marriage rather than enjoy it. Many individuals seem to be struggling to come to terms with the reality that their dreams of a blissful, peaceful, profitable and harmonious union have been eroded with the passage of time. The surprises are just incredible? There's a significant difference between a true marriage and its counterfeits. Marriage or Mirage is a book for all individuals who are ready and willing to make great marriages. A profoundly compelling book that unravels the secrets to having a marriage that works lastingly through the vicissitudes of life. It's not a book that attempts to mock challenging or failing marriages but rather a resource to help show what marriage is not. It primarily shows you how to know if there's a marriage in your house or a mirage. It reveals and addresses devastating occurrences that make illusionary mirages out of many marriages today. It also illustrates what the Originator's view of marriage is and spells out the roles assigned to each party in the marriage partnership to prevent the occurrence of mirages.A must-read! With this book, spouses in a discordant marriage are armed with the knowledge of what to do to redeem their marriages and those enduring marriage would discover how their marriages could become a delight rather than an exercise of endurance. Even those experiencing a separation are given by this work the keys to form future workable marriages. It also points out to individuals planning a divorce some truth they need to consider before saying never again! Young couples about getting married are fore-armed with the laws of union which they must continually exercise to build a lasting marriage. Above all, it will help stakeholders see how to make a marriage work such that all dreams of living happily ever after can become a reality-which is the end desired for all true marital journeys.

But when adventure comes for Amani, it is not what she expects: she is kidnapped by the regime and taken in secret to the royal palace, where she discovers that she is nearly identical to the cruel half-Vathek Princess Maram. The princess is so hated by her conquered people that she requires a body double, someone to appear in public as Maram, ready to die in her place. As Amani is forced into her new role, she can’t help but enjoy the palace’s beauty—and her time with the princess’ fiancé, Idris. But the glitter of the royal court belies a world of violence and fear. If Amani ever wishes to see her family again, she must play the princess to perfection...because one wrong move could lead to her death.

Book Perfect Marriage Not a Mirage

Download or read book Perfect Marriage Not a Mirage written by Poonam A. Bamba and published by Pustak Mahal. This book was released on 2010-02-01 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author's encounters with husbands and wives in different stages of agony and despair, while holding matrimonial court, led her to reflect deeply on the dynamics of the relationship called "marriage". Case after case revealed that a lot goes into preparation for rituals and extravaganza associated with marriage. But, hardly a thought is spared about this delicate relationship. Girls and boys are very demanding of their companion but none is ready to pitch in. Both want their "own way" their "own space" but are reluctant to invest in togetherness. The real life stories revealed that you cannot have a "perfect twosome", when each individual brings his/her own imperfections. Conflicts would always be there but they can be managed. A beginning made with the preamble that marriage has to work, can make this bond beautiful. To build a pleasant relationship, a couple needs to give time to each other to adjust to the new company and to respect each other's way of life. Attempt to change the other, is surely avoidable. Through this book, the author shares real life stories of estranged spouses; What went wrong in their relationship and where? Could the marital relationship in certain situations, have been saved? "Perfect Marriage Not a Mirage" also addresses endless doubts which go on in the minds of spouses at the crossroads of their relationship. But at the same time, it also demonstrates that there is no uniform code which can make a marriage work. There cannot be a 'perfect recipe' or a 'rule book' which can guide couples to a successful marriage.

Book excerpt: The relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia has always been a marriage of convenience, not affection. In a bargain cemented by President Roosevelt and Saudi Arabia's founding king in 1945, Americans gained access to Saudi oil, and the Saudis sent the dollars back with purchases of American planes, American weapons, American construction projects and American know-how that brought them modernization, education and security. The marriage has suited both sides. But how long can it last? In Inside the Mirage , veteran Middle East journalist Thomas W. Lippman shows that behind the official proclamations of friendship and alliance lies a complex relationship that has often been strained by the mutual aversion of two very different societies. Today the U.S.-Saudi partnership faces its greatest challenge as younger Saudis less enamored of America rise to prominence and Americans, scorched by Saudi-based terrorism, question the value of their ties to the desert kingdom. With so much at stake for the entire, ever-volatile Middle East, this compelling and absolutely necessary account brings the light of new research onto the relationship between these two countries and the future of their partnership.

Book excerpt: A mind-bending novel in which an alternate history of 9/11 and its aftermath uncovers startling truths about America and the Middle East 11/9/2001: Christian fundamentalists hijack four jetliners. They fly two into the Tigris & Euphrates World Trade Towers in Baghdad, and a third into the Arab Defense Ministry in Riyadh. The fourth plane, believed to be bound for Mecca, is brought down by its passengers. The United Arab States declares a War on Terror. Arabian and Persian troops invade the Eastern Seaboard and establish a Green Zone in Washington, D.C. . . . Summer, 2009: Arab Homeland Security agent Mustafa al Baghdadi interrogates a captured suicide bomber. The prisoner claims that the world they are living in is a mirage—in the real world, America is a superpower, and the Arab states are just a collection of "backward third-world countries." A search of the bomber's apartment turns up a copy of The New York Times, dated September 12, 2001, that appears to support his claim. Other captured terrorists have been telling the same story. The president wants answers, but Mustafa soon discovers he's not the only interested party. The gangster Saddam Hussein is conducting his own investigation. And the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee—a war hero named Osama bin Laden—will stop at nothing to hide the truth. As Mustafa and his colleagues venture deeper into the unsettling world of terrorism, politics, and espionage, they are confronted with questions without any rational answers, and the terrifying possibility that their world is not what it seems. Acclaimed novelist Matt Ruff has created a shadow world that is eerily recognizable but, at the same time, almost unimaginable. Gripping, subversive, and unexpectedly moving, The Mirage probes our deepest convictions and most arresting fears.

Book The Mirage of a Space between Nature and Nurture

Download or read book The Mirage of a Space between Nature and Nurture written by Evelyn Fox Keller and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2010-06-11 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this powerful critique, the esteemed historian and philosopher of science Evelyn Fox Keller addresses the nature-nurture debates, including the persistent disputes regarding the roles played by genes and the environment in determining individual traits and behavior. Keller is interested in both how an oppositional “versus” came to be inserted between nature and nurture, and how the distinction on which that opposition depends, the idea that nature and nurture are separable, came to be taken for granted. How, she asks, did the illusion of a space between nature and nurture become entrenched in our thinking, and why is it so tenacious? Keller reveals that the assumption that the influences of nature and nurture can be separated is neither timeless nor universal, but rather a notion that emerged in Anglo-American culture in the late nineteenth century. She shows that the seemingly clear-cut nature-nurture debate is riddled with incoherence. It encompasses many disparate questions knitted together into an indissoluble tangle, and it is marked by a chronic ambiguity in language. There is little consensus about the meanings of terms such as nature, nurture, gene, and environment. Keller suggests that contemporary genetics can provide a more appropriate, precise, and useful vocabulary, one that might help put an end to the confusion surrounding the nature-nurture controversy.
