Book excerpt: Originally published in 1951 this book analyses the social values and institutions involved in the establishment and maintenance of marital relationships. As well as considering the conventions through which mariatal values are expressed, the relation of marital status to the general structure of Yakö society is also discussed. The book also determines the extent to which the values posited by the Yakö themselves are actually operative and discusses the changing conditions which have modified traditional standars of marital behaviour.

This book was released on 2020-03-20 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contemporary conflict scenarios are beyond the reach of standardized approaches to conflict resolution. Given the curious datum that culture is implicated in nearly every conflict in the world, culture can also be an important aspect of efforts to transform destructive conflicts into more constructive social processes. Yet, what culture is and how culture matters in conflict scenarios is contested and regrettably unexplored. The Handbook of Research on the Impact of Culture in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding is a critical publication that examines cultural differences in conflict resolution based on various aspects of culture such as morals, traditions, and laws. Highlighting a wide range of topics such as criminal justice, politics, and technological development, this book is essential for educators, social scientists, sociologists, political leaders, government officials, academicians, conflict resolution practitioners, world peace organizations, researchers, and students.

Book Cases on the Interplay Between Family Society and Entrepreneurship

Download or read book Cases on the Interplay Between Family Society and Entrepreneurship written by Abe, Ethel Ndidiamaka and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-12-01 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the face of a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world and unpredictable challenges, governments need to be able to detect those changes in real-time and quickly test policy responses to determine what works for businesses, communities, families, and individuals. Surprisingly, families and enterprises have interconnectivity. Most Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) started as household vendors of daily supplies. Understanding this linkage and putting them together with professional dexterity should position them both as the panacea for tackling eventualities in the future. Cases on the Interplay Between Family, Society, and Entrepreneurship adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to appraising and managing the subject matter. This book is underpinned by the need to offer a repository for policymakers in organizations, governments, SMMEs, and community leaders to appreciate the role and importance of the family and SMMEs in the economic landscape of nations. The book is impactful in creating awareness about the importance and role of family and family support to members, the community, and society at large. This book as a well-referenced, peer-reviewed, and expertly written multi-disciplinary book covering the humanities, entrepreneurship, human resource management, psychology, leadership, innovative technology, governance/political sciences, and education, add value to extant literature. The book is principally targeted at entrepreneurs, scholars, governments, opinion leaders/influencers, and entities who need competent referenced data on the subject matter as outlined.

Book Harmful Traditional Practices

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about harmful traditional practices: damaging and often violent acts which include female genital mutilation, forced marriage, honour killings and abuse, breast ironing, witchcraft and faith-based abuse. Often targeting women and young girls, these practices are often justified on spurious religious or traditional grounds but are all forms of abuse. Roberts, Campbell and Sarkaria have backgrounds in psychology, policing and law and have spent many years working at the forefront of attempts to end these practices. Harmful Traditional Practices is therefore a uniquely pragmatic book which aims to inform readers about these acts while identifying the best approaches towards ending and prosecuting against them.
