Book excerpt: You admire people who live life to the fullest. Individuals who wake up each morning excited about what the coming day will bring. Diamond was this kind of a dog. Every day was a new adventure in the life of Diamond. He lived life with gay abandon, pushing himself to the limit, trying something new, while at the same time pushing his owners to their limits. He was an incredible athlete, perfecting, creating, and developing every kind of retrieving ever imagined. He was bred to retrieve, born to retrieve, loved to retrieve and lived to retrieve. This perfection, this obsession was almost the undoing of Diamond and the residents of the stone cottage. If you enjoyed Marley & Me, you will find reading this story of an even wilder Labrador retriever thoroughly amusing. You will feel better about your dogs rambunctious or unusual behavior after you compare your puppys behavior to that of Diamond. And in the end, I hope you adopt Diamonds outlook on life: Every day was the first day of the rest of his life. Every day was another page in the book of his marvelous adventure called life. There were no regrets; there was no looking back. He just looked forward to the fun and joy the next sunrise would bring.

Download or read book St George written by Giles Morgan and published by Oldacastle Books. This book was released on 2017-03-23 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the heart of the myths and legends surrounding St. George lies the story of an early Christian martyr persecuted by the Roman Empire around the third century AD. But England is only one country to have adopted this soldier saint as their patron. Others, including Germany, Hungary, and Portugal, claim him as their own. The cult of St. George is astonishingly widespread, with churches dedicated to him in Ethiopia, Egypt, and Greece. His heroic struggle and victory against the dragon can be interpreted as representing the bravery of an individual Christian or the eternal battle been good and evil. There are, however, clear parallels between his battle and those of pre-Christian heroes such as Perseus and Beowulf. St. George is also identified with the Islamic hero Al Khidr, who is said to have discovered the fountain of youth. Associated with the coming of spring and functioning as a fertility symbol, has been closely linked to the Green Man of Pre-Christian Myth. St. George has also acted as a symbol of chastity and served as a healing saint. His flag has been appropriated by the far right, but in recent times come to identify a multicultural England.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a Bible and guitar, Bob Marley set out to conquer the world of popular music. Rising from humble origins to international stardom, he worked tirelessly to spread a dual message of resistance and redemption--a message inspired by his reading of scripture. Marley's constant reliance on the Bible throughout the stages of his artistic and spiritual paths is an integral part of his story that has not been sufficiently told--until now. This is the first book written on Bob Marley as biblical interpreter. It answers the question, What light does biblical scholarship shed on Marley's interpretation, and what can Marley teach biblical scholars? Focusing on the parts of the Bible that Marley quotes most often in his lyrics, MacNeil provides a close analysis of Marley's interpretation. For students of Marley, this affords a deeper appreciation and understanding of his thought and his art. For students of scripture, it demonstrates the nature of Marley's unique contribution to the field of biblical interpretation, which can be appreciated as an excellent example of what R. S. Sugirtharajah calls "vernacular interpretation" of scripture.
