Book The Survey of College Marketing Programs

Download or read book The Survey of College Marketing Programs written by Primary Research Group and published by Primary Research Group Inc. This book was released on 2007 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than 47% of American colleges use web advertising of some type to market the college including more than 59% of private colleges, according to a new study from Primary Research Group, The Survey of College Marketing Programs. The 170 page study presents more than 650 tables of data relating to college marketing efforts, exploring television, radio, newspaper and magazine advertising, direct mail, college viewbook and magazine publishing, and use of web ads, blogs, search engine placement enhancement, and other internet related marketing. The study also presents data on the percentage of distance learning programs that are managed and marketed by the central administration of the college and the percentage that are managed by separate administrative entities. The report also looks closely at spending by colleges on marketing consultancies, market research firms, advertising and public relations agencies. The data in the report is broken out by enrollment size, type of college, public/private status, and even by the extent to which colleges draw their applicants from the local area. Fifty five colleges completed an exhaustive questionnaire.

Book Marketing Schools Marketing Cities

Download or read book Marketing Schools Marketing Cities written by Maia Bloomfield Cucchiara and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2013-05-25 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discuss real estate with any young family and the subject of schools is certain to come up—in fact, it will likely be a crucial factor in determining where that family lives. Not merely institutions of learning, schools have increasingly become a sign of a neighborhood’s vitality, and city planners have ever more explicitly promoted “good schools” as a means of attracting more affluent families to urban areas, a dynamic process that Maia Bloomfield Cucchiara critically examines in Marketing Schools, Marketing Cities. Focusing on Philadelphia’s Center City Schools Initiative, she shows how education policy makes overt attempts to prevent, or at least slow, middle-class flight to the suburbs. Navigating complex ethical terrain, she balances the successes of such policies in strengthening urban schools and communities against the inherent social injustices they propagate—the further marginalization and disempowerment of lowerclass families. By asking what happens when affluent parents become “valued customers,” Marketing Schools, Marketing Cities uncovers a problematic relationship between public institutions and private markets, where the former are used to leverage the latter to effect urban transformations.

Book How to Market a University

Download or read book How to Market a University written by Teresa Flannery and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can universities implement strategic integrated marketing to effectively build and communicate their value? At a time of declining public support, a shrinking pipeline of traditional college-bound students, and a steady rise in tuition and discount rates, higher education leaders have never been under more pressure. How can they ensure steady or growing enrollments while cultivating greater philanthropic support, increasing research funding, and diversifying revenue streams? In How to Market a University, Teresa M. Flannery argues that institutions can meet all of these goals by implementing strategic integrated marketing in ways that are consistent with academic culture and university values. Flannery provides a road map for college leaders who want to learn how to build value—both in terms of revenue and reputation—by differentiating from competitors and developing personalized, supportive, and long-lasting relationships with stakeholders. Defining marketing while identifying its purposes in the context of higher education, Flannery draws on nonprofit marketing scholarship, the expertise of leading higher education marketing practitioners and administrators, and her own experiences over two decades at two different institutions. She teaches readers how to • set up their marketing leadership for success • find or build the necessary organizational capacity • set a firm foundation through market research • establish a differentiated value proposition and strong brand strategy • encourage enterprise-wide integration of marketing and communications • consider technical and resource requirements to succeed in digital marketing • develop appropriate and rigorous measurement • plan for appropriate investment • anticipate and prepare for future trends This practical guide reveals how to cultivate student, alumni, donor, and partner loyalty through strategic marketing. How to Market a University offers leaders and their CMOs the language, examples, and even questions they should discuss and answer in order to build or refine their marketing strategy.

  • Pages : 195 pages

Download or read book Selling School written by Catherine DiMartino and published by Teachers College Press. This book was released on 2018 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely book outlines the growth and development of marketing and branding practices in public education. The authors highlight why these practices have become important across key fields within public education, including leadership and governance, budgeting and finance, strategic initiatives, use of new technology, the role of teachers in marketing, and messaging. From an organizational perspective, they explore the implications of edvertising on the democratic mission of public education, especially as related to issues of equity and access for students who have been historically underserved. The authors argue that expansive marketing campaigns, unequal funding sources, and lack of regulation are quickly and profoundly reshaping public education without the benefit of robust research or public debate. Selling School is important reading for principals navigating increasingly marketized school systems, for policymakers constructing legislation, and for parents negotiating school choice. “DiMartino and Jessen are right in their prescient discussion of the muddling of public and private models in public education through marketing.” —From the Foreword by Christopher Lubienski, Indiana University, Bloomington “This book pioneers new ground as the authors move the literature on the marketization of education into a more nuanced analysis of how branding discourses and practices have entered the logic of public schooling.” —Gary L. Anderson, New York University “Essential for readers interested in learning about how private sector practices affect the functions of public schools.” —Janelle Scott, University of California, Berkeley

Book Marketing University Outreach Programs

Download or read book Marketing University Outreach Programs written by Ralph S Foster and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-01-14 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the successful marketing strategies of programs which have extended the resources of a university to its community. Marketing University Outreach Programs covers all aspects of continuing education program construction and the marketing process for positioning the university into the public. This book begins to eradicate academicians’ fears of marketing by showing them a contemporary marketing plan using terminology and examples familiar to them.Seventeen contributors--professors, administrators, and outreach professionals--comprehensively describe the strategies being successfully used to extend the resources of a university to its community through programs of extension, public service, and continuing education. Although many existing models of the education process contain parallels to elements in a generic marketing process, education is not viewed as a consumer product. Even educators may not view themselves as marketers involved in a marketing process. This attitude can place barriers between understanding the marketing process and how it relates to education. Marketing University Outreach Programs helps educators overcome these potential barriers; it explains marketing as a comprehensive process using terminology and examples which university extension and education professionals will find familiar and understandable.Application-oriented, it cites numerous examples of how the marketing process can be put to use immediately. Each chapter explores in-depth a separate segment of the marketing process involved in public university outreach programs: issue-based versus discipline-based programs program delivery and delivery technology funding outreach programs comprehensive promotional strategy customer service long-range planning marketing research information resources future trends model programsThis book is of value to the faculty of universities, specifically those in the disciplines with a mandate for professional renewal or recertification (engineering, medicine, education); faculty and professional staff in divisions of continuing education; program leadership in cooperative extension organizations (as well as those in other identifiable university extension units); and faculty affiliated with applied research centers. Members of professional associations focused on higher education outreach can also successfully apply these strategies.

Book Branded Nation

  • Author : James B. Twitchell
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster
  • Release : 2004-09-08
  • ISBN : 0743271610

Download or read book Branded Nation written by James B. Twitchell and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2004-09-08 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Branding, says James Twitchell, is nothing more than commercial storytelling; brands are the stories that are associated with products. (For example, the special taste of Evian, says Twitchell, is in the brand, not the water.) Branding has become so successful, so ubiquitous that even institutions that we thought were above branding, antithetical to branding, have succumbed. Such cultural institutions as religion, higher education, and the art world have learned to love Madison Avenue or lose market share. Of course, most ministers, university presidents, and museum directors will insist that branding has nothing to do with them, but as Twitchell brilliantly demonstrates in this witty, insightful examination of three of our most important cultural institutions, wherever supply exceeds demand branding follows. The rise of the megachurch epitomizes branding in religion. From its inception the megachurch was designed not to compete with other churches but to bring in the "unchurched," especially men, worshippers who might otherwise be home watching television or strolling through the mall on a Sunday morning. The megachurches have been phenomenally popular, none more so than Willow Creek Community Church, just south of Chicago, one of the oldest megachurches, which Twitchell analyzes in Branded Nation. Colleges and universities have embraced branding as they have grown more alike. Especially among the top schools in the country, the student bodies, the faculties, often even the campuses themselves are practically interchangeable. What distinguishes each school is the story it tells about itself. Now every institution of higher learning has its image organizers, its brand managers, usually in the admissions or development offices, whose job it is to make their institution seem different from all the rest. Even museums, with their multimillion-dollar Monets, have seen the advantages of branding. The blockbuster exhibitions often put familiar paintings in a new context, that is, they provide a new narrative, branding the art. Museums keep expanding their stores, placing them not just near the entrance on the ground floor but throughout the museum, in the galleries themselves. Some museums, such as the Guggenheim, even franchise themselves, turning the institution itself into a brand. In short, high culture is beginning to look more and more like the rest of our culture. In perhaps his most subversive observation, Twitchell doesn't condemn the branding of cultural institutions. On the contrary, he believes that branding may be invigorating our high culture, bringing it to new audiences, making it a more integral part of our lives. Not since Bobos in Paradise has there been such a trenchant, provocative analysis of our world.
