Book Market Competition Protection Mechanism in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Download or read book Market Competition Protection Mechanism in Bosnia and Herzegovina written by Kanita Imamović-Čizmić and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern economy relies on efficient functioning of the market. Precondition to that is the existence of competition in the market. However, the complexities of modern economic relations that are established on the market, as well as the inclemency of the very nature of competitive struggle impose the need for legal protection of market competition. The government emerges as the regulator of relations, prohibiting such activities of competitors that might distort, limit and prevent free competition and thus cause damage to other participants and the economy as a whole. Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the group of transition countries that do not have a long tradition of market culture, which includes market competition legal protection mechanism. The first segment of the book presents the basic theoretical determinants of competition as an economic and legal category. The second segment of the book analyses the economic system of B&H, legal and institutional elements of market competition legal protection mechanism, and the level of harmonisation with the market competition legal protection mechanism in the EU.

Book Competition Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina

This book was released on 2018-05-09 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Derived from the renowned multi-volume International Encyclopaedia of Laws, this practical analysis of competition law and its interpretation in Bosnia and Herzegovina covers every aspect of the subject – the various forms of restrictive agreements and abuse of dominance prohibited by law and the rules on merger control; tests of illegality; filing obligations; administrative investigation and enforcement procedures; civil remedies and criminal penalties; and raising challenges to administrative decisions. Lawyers who handle transnational commercial transactions will appreciate the explanation of fundamental differences in procedure from one legal system to another, as well as the international aspects of competition law. Throughout the book, the treatment emphasizes enforcement, with relevant cases analysed where appropriate. An informative introductory chapter provides detailed information on the economic, legal, and historical background, including national and international sources, scope of application, an overview of substantive provisions and main notions, and a comprehensive description of the enforcement system including private enforcement. The book proceeds to a detailed analysis of substantive prohibitions, including cartels and other horizontal agreements, vertical restraints, the various types of abusive conduct by the dominant firms and the appraisal of concentrations, and then goes on to the administrative enforcement of competition law, with a focus on the antitrust authorities’ powers of investigation and the right of defence of suspected companies. This part also covers voluntary merger notifications and clearance decisions, as well as a description of the judicial review of administrative decisions. Its succinct yet scholarly nature, as well as the practical quality of the information it provides, make this book a valuable time-saving tool for business and legal professionals alike. Lawyers representing parties with interests in Bosnia and Herzegovina will welcome this very useful guide, and academics and researchers will appreciate its value in the study of international and comparative competition law.

Book Competitiveness and Private Sector Development Western Balkans Competitiveness Outlook 2024 Bosnia and Herzegovina

Download or read book Competitiveness and Private Sector Development Western Balkans Competitiveness Outlook 2024 Bosnia and Herzegovina written by OECD and published by OECD Publishing. This book was released on 2024-06-26 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the six Western Balkan (WB6) economies depends on greater economic competitiveness. Although the gap is closing gradually, the standards of living in WB6 are well below those of the OECD and EU. Accelerating the rate of socio-economic convergence will require a holistic and growth oriented approach to policy making. This is the fourth study of the region (formerly under the title 'Competitiveness in South East Europe') and it comprehensively assesses policy reforms in the WB6 economies across 15 policy areas key to strengthening their competitiveness. It enables WB6 economies to compare economic performance against regional peers, as well as EU-OECD good practices and standards, and to design future policies based on rich evidence and actionable policy recommendations. The regional profile presents assessment findings across five policy clusters crucial to accelerating socio-economic convergence of the WB6 by fostering regional co-operation: business environment, skills, infrastructure and connectivity, digital transformation and greening. Economy-specific profiles complement the regional assessment, offering each WB6 economy an in-depth analysis of their policies supporting competitiveness. They also track the implementation of the previous 2021 study's recommendations and provide additional ones tailored to the economies’ evolving challenges. These recommendations aim to inform structural economic reforms and facilitate the region’s socio-economic convergence towards the standards of the EU and OECD.

Economic and financial activity in BiH remains stuck in a low gear since the global financial crisis, reflecting weak external demand, tighter funding conditions, and deep-seated structural issues. Aggregate solvency and liquidity indicators appear broadly sound, but significant pockets of vulnerability exist. The banking system is more than 80 percent foreign-owned banks. The average regulatory capital adequacy ratio exceeded 16 percent as of end 2014. Decisive and timely actions to deal with weak banks are critical for preserving financial stability.

Book Global Food Value Chains and Competition Law

Download or read book Global Food Value Chains and Competition Law written by Ioannis Lianos and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2022-05-05 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The food industry is a notoriously complex economic sector that has not received the attention it deserves within legal scholarship. Production and distribution of food is complex because of its polycentric character (as it operates at the intersection of different public policies) and its dynamic evolution and transformation in the last few decades (from technological and governance perspectives). This volume introduces the global value chain approach as a useful way to analyse competition law and applies it to the operations of food chains and the challenges of their regulation. Together, the chapters not only provide a comprehensive mapping of a vast comparative field, but also shed light on the intricacies of the various policies and legal fields in operation. The book offers a conceptual and theoretical framework for competition authorities, companies and academics, and fills a massive gap in the competition policy literature dealing with global value chains and food.
