Esta es una clara alusión de la futura madre—según la carne—del niño Jesús: María (Lc 1:28-35); la virgen igualmente anunciada con anterioridad por el profeta Isaías quien aseveró: “He aquí que la virgen concebirá, y parirá hijo, y llamará su nombre Emmanuel” (Is 7:14). No se endiosó ni llenó de arrogancia por la revelación recibida, todo lo contrario; más bien preocupación por saber en qué sociedad se desenvolvía como esposa. Debemos por tanto afirmar la actitud y carácter de María, mujer especial, tan joven y llena de gracia; quien maravillosamente y con obediencia no cayó en disertación alguna con el arcángel que pudiera sombrear su fe, sino que confiadamente, en su gran sencillez solo dijo: “He aquí la sierva del Señor; hágase a mí conforme a tu palabra”. La obra expiatoria que en esos días era anunciada—y en pocos años manifestada—iba acompañada de gran sufrimiento anunciado desde la mismísima Creación en las Sagradas Escrituras a través de los siglos (Gn 3:15b, Is 53:3-12). Simeón es usado aquí por Yahweh Dios para revelarnos la historia y consolar a la joven madre. The last chapter presents the basics on Marian devotion which culminates in the consecration to Mary (as a response to her maternal mediation).
