Anche in un contesto come quello Nord Americano, al quale noi come Kent State University ci rivolgiamo in modo particolare, dove i rapporti con storia, geografi a e culture hanno ovviamente tempi, scale, nature e modi assai diversi, il caso Genova può ancora emergere come modello da studiare per la sua complessità e intelligenza progettuale = ...Genoa interests us today [...] not so much for the physicality of its architecture (and there are very good examples, also modern and contemporary) as for the liveliness of its planning culture. Even in a context like that of North America, which we at Kent State Unviersity look at with a special eye, where the relations with history, geography and cultures obviously are marked by very different times, scales, natures, and ways of doing things, the case of Genoa can emerge as a model to be studied for the complexity and intelligence of its design"--Page 4 of cover.

Download or read book Macchine o maccheroni La Cassa per il Mezzogiorno e lo sviluppo economico italiano written by Amedeo Lepore and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-06-11 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Mappa Pisa in the Middle Ages

Download or read book Mappa Pisa in the Middle Ages written by Gabriele Gattiglia and published by Edizioni Nuova Cultura. This book was released on 2014-07-01 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume represents the third edition of a work cycle that started in 2006 for my PhD thesis. The thesis was presented in 2010 (first edition, Gattiglia 2010), partially published as a summary monograph in 2011 (second edition, Gattiglia 2011) or in articles (Gattiglia 2012, Gattiglia 2012a, Gattiglia 2011a), and now (third edition) takes the form of a more comprehensive publication in the light of new data. Over the past two years, the work study on Pisa, not only relating to the Middle Ages, continued within the MAPPA (Metodologie Applicate alla Predittività del Potenziale – Methodologies Applied to Archaeological Potential Predictivity) project, allowing a widespread collection of data thanks to which it was possible to explain more fully the hydro-geological, geomorphological and topographic context and to check (and in many cases change) part of the assumptions made.

Book Journey to Albania

    Book Details:
  • Author : Enrico Porfido
  • Publisher : Accademia University Press
  • Release : 2022-10-24
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 207 pages

Download or read book Journey to Albania written by Enrico Porfido and published by Accademia University Press. This book was released on 2022-10-24 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last ten years, Albania has undergone rapid development, becoming a well-recognised tourist destination within the Mediterranean region. Tourism represents one of the most significant opportunities for the country and – at the same time – a challenge for a developing nation and emerging economy – especially if we take into account an isolationist period of more than forty years during the social-communist dictatorship. This book aims to provide a base for discussion about the impact of tourism on the Albanian territory – firstly from a historical point of view, and secondly to observe a specific case study and analyse its impact. This book is a journey to Albania, looking at architecture, explorations, and landscapes from the traveller's perspective. Inevitably this will include other academic fields, such as geography, history, and spatial planning, and will also recognise the contested Italian influence as an additional layer of complexity in Albania's 20th century.

Book Global Financial Crisis and Its Ramifications on Capital Markets

Download or read book Global Financial Crisis and Its Ramifications on Capital Markets written by Ümit Hacioğlu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-20 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book assesses the 2008-2009 financial crisis and its ramifications for the global economy from a multidisciplinary perspective. Current market conditions and systemic issues pose a risk to financial stability and sustained market access for emerging market borrowers. The volatile environment in the financial system became the source of major threats and some opportunities such as takeovers, mergers and acquisitions for international business operations. This volume is divided into six sections. The first evaluates the 2008-2009 Global Financial Crisis and its impacts on Global Economic Activity, examining the financial crisis in historical context, the economic slowdown, transmission of the crisis from advanced economies to emerging markets, and spillovers. The second section evaluates global imbalances, especially financial instability and the economic outlook for selected regional economies, while the third focuses on international financial institutions and fiscal policy applications. The fourth section analyzes the capital market mechanism, price fluctuations and global trade activity, while the fifth builds on new trends and business cycles to derive effective strategies and solutions for international entrepreneurship and business. In closing, the final section explores the road to economic recovery and stability by assessing the current outlook and fiscal strategies.

Book The Boundaries of Europe

Download or read book The Boundaries of Europe written by Pietro Rossi and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-04-24 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Europe’s boundaries have mainly been shaped by cultural, religious, and political conceptions rather than by geography. This volume of bilingual essays from renowned European scholars outlines the transformation of Europe’s boundaries from the fall of the ancient world to the age of decolonization, or the end of the explicit endeavor to “Europeanize” the world. From the decline of the Roman Empire to the polycentrism of today’s world, the essays span such aspects as the confrontation of Christian Europe with Islam and the changing role of the Mediterranean from “mare nostrum” to a frontier between nations. Scandinavia, eastern Europe and the Atlantic are also analyzed as boundaries in the context of exploration, migratory movements, cultural exchanges, and war. The Boundaries of Europe, edited by Pietro Rossi, is the first installment in the ALLEA book series Discourses on Intellectual Europe, which seeks to explore the question of an intrinsic or quintessential European identity in light of the rising skepticism towards Europe as an integrated cultural and intellectual region.

Book Progettare Paesaggio Landscape as Infrastructure

Download or read book Progettare Paesaggio Landscape as Infrastructure written by AA. VV. and published by Gangemi Editore spa. This book was released on 2015-10-15T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. [ANTONIA P. RECCHIA – Direttore Generale, Direzione Generale per il paesaggio, le belle arti, l’architettura e l’arte contemporanee, MiBAC] The project “Progettare Paesaggio, Landscape as Architecture” combines the inspiring design proposals drafted by a group of students of the Harvard Graduate School of Design headed by the teacher Paola Cannavò with a study of the portuense and ostiense areas and how the landscape might change due to the construction of new infrastructure, either being completed or in the design stage. The study includes guidelines for the requalification and enhancement of the area considered as a complex historical landscape; it also highlights the past and present active and dynamic protection measures and procedures adopted by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. [CHARLES WALDHEIM – Direttore, Dipartimento di Architettura del Paesaggio, Harvard Graduate School of Design] “This publication, and the design research that it documents, offers timely evidence of the contemporary challenges of urban form, ecological process, and economic development faced by the Italian capital.” “Highlighting the complex and contradictory ecological and economic impulses of a working port landscape, Cannavò proposes a renewed relevance for landscape architecture as a medium of urbanism. In so doing, she stakes an Italian position in the contemporary discourses of landscape urbanism and ecological urbanism, while pointing to a way forward for urbanism, even in the fields of Fuimicino.” [CHARLES WALDHEIM – Chair, Department of Landscape Architecture, Harvard Graduate School of Design]
