Book Instructional Technology

Download or read book Instructional Technology written by Barbara B. Seels and published by IAP. This book was released on 2012-10-01 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Association officially endorses this definition of Instructional Technology which has been developed over three years by the Committee on Definition and Terminology. The Association recognizes that other theoretical frameworks exist and that these are valid, but believes that these are part of the more inclusive theoretical framework of Instructional Technology used in this definition. In making this definition and the document explaining it available, we hope to help other organizations clarify their relationship to the broad field of Instructional Technology. Although the Association offers this definition as its current position, it is committed to a continuous reevaluation of the definition and to revising and publishing it so that it reflects changing concepts and terminology. A document of this magnitude can only be produced as the result of the dedication and effort of the persons who formed the committee and of its chairperson, Barbara Seels and her collaborator, Rita C. Richey. Without their energies, skill, perseverance, and willingness to risk stating their perceptions in this format we could not have offered this document. Whether or not we agree with the statements presented here, they will provide a benchmark and a point of dialogue for further development of a profession which seeks to provide conditions for effective learning.

Book Real Time Weld Process Monitoring

Download or read book Real Time Weld Process Monitoring written by Y M Zhang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-04-17 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welding is a complex process, is increasingly automated, and operates at higher speeds in more difficult environments. Defects also need to be detected as they arise to ensure efficient, high-quality production. All these needs have led to a growing interest in the use of sensors to provide accurate, robust, real-time monitoring where this cannot be achieved by more traditional testing and inspection techniques. This important book reviews the range of monitoring techniques available and their applications. After an introductory chapter, the first part of the book reviews the range of sensor technologies in welding, from arc and optical sensors to infrared and ultrasonic techniques. Part two discusses the monitoring of particular aspects of welding such as weld seams and profiles, the analysis of weld penetration and weld pool surface, as well as monitoring of resistance and laser welding. With its distinguished editor and international team of contributors, Real-time weld process monitoring is a valuable reference to all those concerned with improving the quality of welding and welded components. Reviews the range of monitoring techniques available Examines the range of sensor technologies in welding from arc and optical sensors to infrared and ultrasonic techniques Discusses the monitoring of specific aspects of welding such as weld seams, resistance and laser welding

Download or read book Nonlinear Ocean Waves written by W. Perrie and published by Southampton [England] : Computational Mechanics Publications. This book was released on 1998 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding ocean waves involves looking at the processes that drive them and determining their development including the energy removed from waves by wave breaking and white-capping, and nonlinear wave-wave interactions. In this study, the contributors consider: -- How observed waves grow and develop, maintaining an equilibrium with the wind, being driven by wind and also modifying the wind. -- How ideal potential waves grow and develop, as well as the spectra of wind-wave turbulence. -- The modelling of nonlinear wave-wave interactions, wind input and wave dissipation in shallow water and turning wind situations.

Book The Encyclopedia of Melbourne

Download or read book The Encyclopedia of Melbourne written by Andrew Brown-May and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2005-09-19 with total page 840 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great cities deserve great encyclopedias. A city is known by its past, its characteristic virtues and troubles, and its ways of life. 'Marvellous Melbourne' symbolises the achievements of Australian urbanisation and suburbanisation. The Encyclopedia of Melbourne reflects and encompasses the city's historical position as one of the world's pre-eminent nineteenth century metropolises, and as one of the twenty-first century's most liveable cities. Alphabetical entries range from short factual summaries about places, institutions and events, through to extended survey articles on key topics such as Architecture, Aboriginal Melbourne, Economy, Foundation and Early Settlement, Law and Order, Literature, Science, Sport, Suburbia, Theatre and Transport. Although Australia has long ranked amongst the world's most urbanised countries, no comparable reference work exists on any Australian metropolis.
