This book was released on with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: INTRODUCTION 1. GAIN ATTENTION. Marksmanship proficiency is the cornerstone of a Marine’s effectiveness in any combat situation. The goal of marksmanship training is to develop this proficiency to a combat- effective level. Marine Corps policy requires that all Marines be thoroughly trained and capable of safely and effectively employing those weapons appropriate to their grade and duty assignment. To this end, the Marine Corps Combat Pistol Program (CPP) functions to provide marksmanship training to those Marines who are required by T/O, grade, or duty assignment to carry the M9 service pistol. Through classroom, dry practice, and live fire training, the CPP prepares Marines to be combat-effective with the pistol in support of their unit’s mission. 2. OVERVIEW. This lesson will introduce Marine Corps pistol marksmanship training with the M9 service pistol. 3. INTRODUCE LEARNING OBJECTIVES. This lesson is provided as an introduction to the Marine Corps CPP. There are no Terminal or Enabling Learning Objectives for this lesson. 4. METHOD. This lesson will be taught in a classroom setting using lecture. 5. EVALUATION. The Marine will not be tested on the material in this lesson. TRANSITION: The intent of the CPP is to provide classroom, dry practice, and live fire training on basic and combat pistol marksmanship skills. Systematically, the emphasis of the training program shifts from fundamental to combat applications with skills gradually refined until Marines are at a combat ready level. A shooter who participates in a Division Match, while recognized as a proficient shooter, has also been selected to become a representative and participant in the Marine Corps Competition in Arms Program (CIAP). Throughout its history, this program and the events conducted within the program all stress the same principles: the development of proficient and combat-ready Marines through the practice and application of marksmanship fundamentals and shooting techniques. Success in requalification, combat, and competition rely on the shooter's ability to apply what he has learned in these environments. The competitive shooter's goal over the coming weeks will ultimately be to win the match, but the skills and knowledge that he receives will serve him and his fellow Marines long after the competition ends and the medals are awarded. The CIAP's mission to develop and perpetuate effective shooters is the foundation on which each shooter in the Marine Corps may achieve success. 2. OVERVIEW. This lesson will cover an introduction to the CIAP to include history, traditions, objectives, scope, structure, quotas, and awards. 3. INTRODUCE LEARNING OBJECTIVES. The Division Match instruction is structured to prepare the shooter to fire the Division Match Course and is not a component of a formal school program. Therefore, there are no learning objectives. 4. METHOD. This lesson will be taught in a classroom setting using lecture. 5. EVALUATION. The Division Match instruction is structured to prepare the shooter to fire the Division Match Course and is not a component of a formal school program. Therefore, students are not evaluated on this material. Download or read book US Army Combat Training with Pistols written by United States Army and published by Bigfontbooks. This book was released on 2024-03-31 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual provides guidance on the operation and marksmanship of the M9, 9-mm pistol, and the M11, 9-mm pistol. It reflects current army standards in weapons qualifications. It is a guide for the instructor to develop training programs, plans, and lessons that meet the objectives of the US Army marksmanship program for developing combat-effective marksmen. The soldier develops confidence, knowledge, and skills by following the guidelines in this manual. The Beretta 92FS semi-automatic pistol that the United States Armed Forces use is known as the Beretta M9, or officially the Pistol, Semiautomatic, 9mm, M9. In 1985, the United States military decided to use the M9 as their service pistol. The 92FS won a competition in the 1980s to replace the M1911A1 as the primary sidearm of the U.S. military, beating many other contenders and only narrowly defeating the SIG Sauer P226 for cost reasons. It officially entered into service in 1990. The M9 was scheduled to be replaced under a United States Army program, the Future Handgun System (FHS), which was merged with the SOF Combat Pistol program to create the Joint Combat Pistol (JCP). The JCP was renamed Combat Pistol (CP), and the number of pistols to be bought was drastically cut back. The U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps are replacing the M9 with the SIG Sauer M17 and M18. The SIG Sauer P226 is a full-sized service pistol. A compact version of the P226, the P228 is in use with various law enforcement agencies and also with the United States Armed Forces, where it is designated as the M11.

Our Combat Instructors will Lead, Teach, Mentor, and Guide every one of you, through a rigorous 29-day program of instruction. You will be taught by the most experienced, professional, and knowledgeable Staff Non-commissioned Officers and Non-commissioned Officers that the Marine Corps has to offer. During the training cycle, I expect you to commit yourself to your training and education by learning as much as you can from our Combat Instructors. Finally, when you graduate, I expect you to retain what you learned and uphold the time honored traditions of our Marine Corps. Remember that regardless of military Occupation Specialty, every Marine is a Riflemen first. Every Marine, regardless of his military occupation, is trained as a Rifleman. This concept has been around since the Marine Corps inception in 1775, when every man who volunteered was required to bring his own musket. In the early 1900s, as the Marine Corps grew and additional military occupations were created, the Commandant, General John A. Lejeune, ensured that every Marine, regardless of his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), received marksmanship training. During the Korean War, the Marine Corps was the only service to create rifle companies entirely from cooks, drivers, and other non-infantry Marines. From this war, the proverbial saying, Every Marine a Rifleman was born. In the nineteen eighties, the Commandant, General Al Gray, recognized the need to train all Marines in more than just basic marksmanship, but in modern-day combat skills. The School of Infantry was assigned to conduct this training known as Common Skills because it is common to every Marine. These common skills allow every Marine, regardless of MOS, to act as Rifleman when called upon. MCT Battalion generates Marine Riflemen to possess a foundational understanding of, and their role in applying, the Marine Corps' warfighting ethos, core values, basic tenets of maneuver warfare, leadership responsibilities, mental, moral, and physical resiliency in order to contribute to the successful accomplishment of their unit's mission. New Rifleman Definition: A Marine Rifleman embodies the Marine Corps' warfighting ethos: offensively minded; lethal with their weapon mentally, morally, physically resilient; proficient in basic field craft; and possessing a foundational understanding of leadership and the basic tenets of maneuver warfare. CONTENTS: MCT Student Outline, 296 pages Student Preparation Guide, 10 pages MCDP-1 Warfighting, 113 pages Physical Training Playbook, 19 pages

Book excerpt: This United States Army manual publication, Training Circular TC 3-23.35 Pistol Including Change 2 January 2020, provides the framework and techniques for conducting pistol training; the components and cycle of function for the M9 service pistol; its characteristics, equipment, and ammunition; and covers the functional elements of the shot process that are essential to build Soldier proficiency with their service pistol. It serves as an authoritative reference for personnel developing institutional, installation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for pistol training and qualification. The principal audience for Training Circular (TC) 3-23.35 includes commanders, staff, leaders, Soldiers, trainers, and instructors who are responsible for planning, preparing, executing, and assessing pistol training and employment. This manual is comprised of nine chapters and four appendices, and is specifically tailored to the individual Soldier's use of the M9 service pistol. This training circular provides specific information about the weapon, aiming devices, attachments, followed by sequential chapters on the tactical employment of the weapon system. The training circular itself is purposely organized in a progressive manner, each chapter or appendix building on the information from the previous section. This organization provides a logical sequence of information which directly supports the Army's training strategy for the weapon at the individual level. Chapters 1 through 4 describe safety, operation, types of sights, and accessories associated with the M9 service pistol. General information is provided in the chapters of the manual, with more advanced information placed in appendix A, Ammunition, and appendix B, Ballistics. Chapters 5 through 9 provide the employment, stability, aiming, control and movement information. This portion focuses on the Solider skills needed to produce well-aimed shots. Advanced engagement concepts are provided in appendix C of this publication. Appendix D of this publication provides common tactical drills that are used in training and combat that directly support tactical engagements. This manual does not cover the specific M9 service pistol training strategy, ammunition requirements for the training strategy, qualification, or range operations. These areas will be covered in separate training circulars. The training strategy through qualification can be found in TC 3-20.40, Training and Qualification - Individual Weapons. TC 3-23.35 applies to all Soldiers, regardless of experience or position. This publication is designed specifically for the Soldier's use on the range during training and as a reference while deployed.
