English AbstractThe article discusses how the formal examination of trademarks applications filed through the national way with the Cuban Industrial Property Office is carried out. A doctrinal approach is made to the different institutions that converge in the evaluative process of applications. In addition, the article includes study cases on the way of proceeding before the Office and the mistakes made by the applicants. This analysis is essential for practitioners from different jurisdictions who wish to approach the Cuban trademark system, as well as for any interested person, inexperienced in the field, who wishes to protect this type of intangible asset.
