This book was released on 2004-06-15 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An effective state is essential to achieving socio-economic and sustainable development. With the advent of globalization, there are growing pressures on governments and organizations around the world to be more responsive to the demands of internal and external stakeholders for good governance, accountability and transparency, greater development effectiveness, and delivery of tangible results. Governments, parliaments, citizens, the private sector, NGOs, civil society, international organizations and donors are among the stakeholders interested in better performance. As demands for greater accountability and real results have increased, there is an attendant need for enhanced results-based monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs, and projects. This Handbook provides a comprehensive ten-step model that will help guide development practitioners through the process of designing and building a results-based monitoring and evaluation system. These steps begin with a OC Readiness AssessmentOCO and take the practitioner through the design, management, and importantly, the sustainability of such systems. The Handbook describes each step in detail, the tasks needed to complete each one, and the tools available to help along the way."
Download or read book Uganda written by International Monetary Fund. Fiscal Affairs Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2019-09-12 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Technical Assistance report on the Uganda focuses on strengthening the performance of public investment management – next phase. Significant progress has been achieved since 2015 in strengthening public investment management, with the reforms showing first results. New procedures need to be designed to refresh project information and assess the status of ongoing projects. With better information, a robust prioritization process of ongoing and new projects within the medium-term envelope should be implemented. Discussions with Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and the mission’s analysis of the upgraded project data identified inconsistencies between projects’ planned use of resources, approved project budgets and the medium-term resource envelope. Reliable and updated information on project forward estimates and commitments like signed contracts and certificates of work is fundamental for ensuring sufficient and timely funding of projects. Recent strengthening of Public Investment Management processes has been accomplished with limited changes to the legal framework.

Download or read book Handbook for Preparing a Resettlement Action Plan written by and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2002 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of the International Finance Corporation is to promote sustainable development through private sector investment in developing countries in order to reduce poverty and improve people's lives. IFC often supports investments that involve complex social and environmental issues, and it takes these issues very seriously. IFC recognizes that the resettlement of people from their homes or displacement of people from their livelihoods is economically and socially disruptive and may affect some people living close to the edge of survival. Where resettlement is unavoidable, each project requires its utmost attention. IFC considers resettlement an opportunity to improve peoples' lives by providing sustainable benefits and improved means of livelihood to people affected by IFC-financed projects. This handbook outlines methods and practices for the preparation of successful resettlement action plans conforming to IFC's policy on involuntary resettlement. As a reference for project developers, it describes the issues associated with the economic and physical displacement of people and provides an appreciation of the level of effort a project will require. It is intended primarily to assist the practitioners, consultants, NGOs, and community-based organizations that design and carry out resettlement activities. The handbook may be used in conjunction with IFC's public consultation Good Practice Manual and its Community Development Guide.

This new edition of RIBA’s (Royal Institute of British Architects) classic handbook brings guidance right up to date. It covers the full deck of management competencies, including how to run your finances, win work, employ people, operate your office, handle information, assure quality, and manage your risks. Aimed at those who are already managing a design studio or setting up a practice, it provides advice on all aspects of practising architecture in the UK and is a core reference book for practitioners and students alike. Divided into two parts, the first characterises and quantifies the business of designing buildings in the context of the construction industry. It outlines what it means to be a member of the architect profession and considers the trends that seem likely to influence its future direction. The second part sets out the overlapping activities that together constitute practice management. A chapter on business strategy is followed by seven topic-specific chapters organised to: Distinguish between what you must do by law, what you should do to conform to professional codes of conduct, and what you might do to compete in the market Outline the most important management considerations Highlight the tactics and tools available to you Signpost useful resources and sources of more detailed information. A must-have handbook for chartered members of RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and ARB (Architects Registration Board) registered architects. The guidance accounts for architects’ duties under ARB’s Architects Code; and chartered members’ duties under the RIBA Code of Professional Conduct and chartered practices’ duties under the RIBA Code of Professional Practice.
