Book U S Army Reconnaissance and Surveillance Handbook

Download or read book U S Army Reconnaissance and Surveillance Handbook written by Department of the Army and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, military leaders have recognized the importance of reconnaissance and surveillance. Gaining and maintaining contact with the enemy is essential to win the battle, and U.S. military history contains many examples where our knowledge of the enemy, or lack of knowledge, directly led to victory or defeat. The role of reconnaissance and surveillance has not diminished on the modern battlefield; if anything, it has become even more important. Battles at the combat training centers prove that a good reconnaissance and surveillance effort is critical to successful attacks. On the other hand, a poor reconnaissance and surveillance effort almost guarantees defeat for the commander. The message is clear: success on the battlefield begins with reconnaissance and surveillance. Direct from the United States Army, U.S. Army Reconnaissance and Surveillance Handbook provides tactics, techniques, and procedures for reconnaissance and surveillance planning, mission management, and reporting. It also covers the development of intelligence to support counter-reconnaissance operations, employment considerations for reconnaissance, and surveillance assets, and defines the roles of various personnel in planning operations. Intended for maneuver commanders and their staffs; intelligence staffs and collection managers; and other personnel involved in planning and reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance operations, and now available to everyone, U.S. Army Reconnaissance and Surveillance Handbook provides an insider’s look into the world of Army intelligence.

This book was released on with total page 5351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over 5,300 total pages .... MARINE RECON Reconnaissance units are the commander’s eyes and ears on the battlefield. They are task organized as a highly trained six man team capable of conducting specific missions behind enemy lines. Employed as part of the Marine Air- Ground Task Force, reconnaissance teams provide timely information to the supported commander to shape and influence the battlefield. The varying types of missions a Reconnaissance team conduct depends on how deep in the battle space they are operating. Division Reconnaissance units support the close and distant battlespace, while Force Reconnaissance units conduct deep reconnaissance in support of a landing force. Common missions include, but are not limited to: Plan, coordinate, and conduct amphibious-ground reconnaissance and surveillance to observe, identify, and report enemy activity, and collect other information of military significance. Conduct specialized surveying to include: underwater reconnaissance and/or demolitions, beach permeability and topography, routes, bridges, structures, urban/rural areas, helicopter landing zones (LZ), parachute drop zones (DZ), aircraft forward operating sites, and mechanized reconnaissance missions. When properly task organized with other forces, equipment or personnel, assist in specialized engineer, radio, and other special reconnaissance missions. Infiltrate mission areas by necessary means to include: surface, subsurface and airborne operations. Conduct Initial Terminal Guidance (ITG) for helicopters, landing craft, parachutists, air-delivery, and re-supply. Designate and engage selected targets with organic weapons and force fires to support battlespace shaping. This includes designation and terminal guidance of precision-guided munitions. Conduct post-strike reconnaissance to determine and report battle damage assessment on a specified target or area. Conduct limited scale raids and ambushes. Book The Infantry Reconnaissance Platoon and Squad Airborne Air Assault Light Infantry FM 7 92

Download or read book The Infantry Reconnaissance Platoon and Squad Airborne Air Assault Light Infantry FM 7 92 written by Department of the Army and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2012-11-30 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual, “The Infantry Reconnaissance Platoon and Squad (Airborne, Air Assault, Light Infantry) (FM 7-92),” describes the doctrinal and tactical employment of the reconnaissance platoon in airborne, air assault, and light infantry battalions. It provides the reconnaissance platoon's leaders with tactics, techniques, and procedures to exploit its reconnaissance and security capabilities, to reduce its vulnerabilities, and to enable its parent battalion to obtain the information necessary to win on the battlefield. This manual also provides guidance for employing the reconnaissance platoon or infantry platoons that conduct reconnaissance and security operations. The estimate of the situation determines how to apply the doctrine in this manual. This manual complements FM 7-8 and FM 7-20. Since the reconnaissance platoon is a critical battalion asset comprising specially trained infantrymen, platoon leaders must understand FM 7-8 and FM 7-20. This manual reemphasizes information from other manuals that are of critical importance and especially useful to scouts. This does not relieve the user of the responsibility of referring to other manuals for in-depth discussions of particular subjects. Although this manual does not implement any international agreements, the material presented herein is in accordance with related international agreements.

This book was released on 2018-09-29 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FM 5-36 Route Reconnaissance and Classification 1965-05-14"This manual describes the influence of the operational environment in reconnaissance operations, the intelligence aspects and fundamentals of route reconnaissance, and methods of reconnoitering and classifying routes for military use. Emphasis is placed on natural and manmade characteristics of routes which influence traffic flow. The interruption of movement by enemy action, an equally important consideration in route reconnaissance, is discussed in general terms only; specific details are not within the scope of this manual although thoroughly discussed in field manuals appropriate to the mission and organization of the reconnoitering force (see app. I).Route reconnaissance as presented by this manual is divided into two categories: hasty reconnaissance and deliberate reconnaissance. Hasty reconnaissance provides limited route information necessary for planning and executing normal military movement and is a prerequisite of tactical maneuver.
