Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Complete Laboratory Manual for Electricity, 2E is the ultimate preparation resource for any curriculum dedicated to training electricians. From basic electricity through AC theory, transformers, and motor controls, all aspects of a typical electrical curriculum are explored in a single volume. Hands-on experiments that acquaint students with the theory and application of electrical concepts offer valuable experience in constructing a multitude of circuits such as series, parallel, combination, RL series and parallel, RC series and parallel, and RLC series and parallel circuits. Each lab features an explanation of the circuit to be connected, with examples of the calculations necessary to complete the exercise and step-by-step procedures for conducting the experiment. Labs use generic equipment and devices commonly found in most hardware stores and electrical supply houses, and a materials list details the components necessary to perform all of the exercises.

Book Electrical Safety Code Manual

Download or read book Electrical Safety Code Manual written by Kimberley Keller and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2010-07-19 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Safety in any workplace is extremely important. In the case of the electrical industry, safety is critical and the codes and regulations which determine safe practices are both diverse and complicated. Employers, electricians, electrical system designers, inspectors, engineers and architects must comply with safety standards listed in the National Electrical Code, OSHA and NFPA 70E. Unfortunately, the publications which list these safety requirements are written in very technically advanced terms and the average person has an extremely difficult time understanding exactly what they need to do to ensure safe installations and working environments. Electrical Safety Code Manual will tie together the various regulations and practices for electrical safety and translate these complicated standards into easy to understand terms. This will result in a publication that is a practical, if not essential, asset to not only designers and company owners but to the electricians who must put compliance requirements into action in the field. - Best-practice methods for accident prevention and electrical hazard avoidance - Current safety regulations, including new standards from OSHA, NEC, NESC, and NFPA - Information on low-, medium-, and high-voltage safety systems - Step-by-step guidelines on safety audits - Training program how-to's, from setup to rescue and first aid procedures

Book A Manual of Electricity Practical and Theoretical Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Manual of Electricity Practical and Theoretical Classic Reprint written by Frederick Collier Bakewell and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-15 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Manual of Electricity, Practical and TheoreticalIt may seem extraordinary that the most commonly observed phenomenon of electricity had not been before noticed as a pro perty pertaining to electrical bodies. It should be borne in mind, however, that furs and silks, from the friction of which sparks are so frequently emitted, had not been classed as electrics, and the only property of electricity then known was that of attraction. It was not likely, therefore, until the two phenomena of attraction and the emission of light were observed combined in the same substance, that the excitement of sparks by friction should be considered due to electricity. To Otto Guericke must also be conceded the honour of having discovered the property of electric repulsion. He ascertained that a feather, when attracted to an excited electric, after adhering to it for a short time, is repelled from the surface, and that it will not again approach until it has touched some other body to which it can part with the electricity it contains. He observed, also, that a feather when thus repelled by an excited electric, always keeps the same side presented towards it. The correspondence between this fact and the position of the moon towards the earth, induced some speculative philosophers to assume that the revolution of the moon round the earth might be caused by electrical attraction and repulsion.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book A Manual of Electricity

Download or read book A Manual of Electricity written by William King and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-07-15 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Manual of Electricity: Containing Observations on the Electrical Phenomena, and Directions for the Construction of Metallic Conductors Electricity considered as connected in the ca; rious phenomena and operations of nature. The influence of electricty is felt in every department of nature, throughout the animal, vegetable, and mineral kingdom. It may be said, without much exaggeration, that whether we look to Heaven above, or to the Earth beneath, we can scarcely perceive any thing that is not acted upon, and in a manner, perfectly subjected to, the operations of this wonderful fluid. If we attend to the common phenomena of our atmosphere, experiments shew, that electricity is connected with every one ofthem. If we evaporate water by means of heat, a strong electricity is produced. Lf vapour is condensed into rain, the same phe nomenon appears. If water is frozen into ice; if it descend in'hail or snow. Electricity ap pears te be equally concerned. It is mani fested on a magnificent scale in a thunder storm, when lightnings lay and thunders roll, and torrents of rain dlescend. The cor uscations of the Aurora Borealis, are proba bly displays of the electric light. The water spout exhibits its force: and the earthquake, that dreadful phenomenon of nature, is but a continued display of its awful and sublime powers. Book Offshore Electrical Engineering Manual

Download or read book Offshore Electrical Engineering Manual written by Geoff MacAngus-Gerrard and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2017-11-06 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offshore Electrical Engineering Manual, Second Edition, is for electrical engineers working on offshore projects who require detailed knowledge of an array of equipment and power distribution systems. The book begins with coverage of different types of insulation, hot-spot temperatures, temperature rise, ambient air temperatures, basis of machine ratings, method of measurement of temperature rise by resistance, measurement of ambient air temperature. This is followed by coverage of AC generators, automatic voltage regulators, AC switchgear transformers, and programmable electronic systems. The emphasis throughout is on practical, ready-to-apply techniques that yield immediate and cost-effective benefits. The majority of the systems covered in the book operate at a nominal voltage of 24 y dc and, although it is not necessary for each of the systems to have separate battery and battery charger systems, the grouping criteria require more detailed discussion. The book also provides information on equipment such as dual chargers and batteries for certain vital systems, switchgear tripping/closing, and engine start batteries which are dedicated to the equipment they supply. In the case of engines which drive fire pumps, duplicate charges and batteries are also required. Packed with charts, tables, and diagrams, this work is intended to be of interest to both technical readers and to general readers. It covers electrical engineering in offshore situations, with much of the information gained in the North Sea. Some topics covered are offshore power requirements, generator selection, process drivers and starting requirements, control and monitoring systems, and cabling and equipment installation Discusses how to perform inspections of electrical and instrument systems on equipment using appropriate regulations and specifications Explains how to ensure electrical systems/components are maintained and production is uninterrupted Demonstrates how to repair, modify, and install electrical instruments ensuring compliance with current regulations and specifications Covers specification, management, and technical evaluation of offshore electrical system design Features evaluation and optimization of electrical system options including DC/AC selection and offshore cabling designs
