Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whenever a new baby is born, someone usually says, "Good luck with your kid, because he doesn't come with an instruction manual!" Well, Kerri Yarsley, a successful mother of four, is about to change all that. The Instruction Manual for Kids - Parent's Edition is an eminently readable, informative, and entertaining book that takes the reader on a journey from pre-pregnancy preparation all the way through to the late teenage years. It covers the basics as well as some interesting behavioral perspectives that you might not expect in a parenting book. So whether you have one or many kids, be prepared to change your thoughts, words, and actions, and have a brilliant and joyful life with your amazing kids. This comprehensive book sets out many "rules of engagement" between children and their environment during the formative years from birth to early adulthood. Written specifically for parents - both new and seasoned - the book contains information that makes practical sense on all levels. If you are a resident of Planet Earth, then I highly recommend Kerri's book to you. It will inform, amuse, inspire, and move you. --Author Bill Statham, The Chemical Maze Shopping Companion

Book A First Time Parent s Survival Guide

Download or read book A First Time Parent s Survival Guide written by Clifford Dale James and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2015-10-13 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why don’t babies come with a how to manual?” Wouldn’t it be nice to have a pediatrician there with you so you could remember what was said in those well visits and to ask simple questions to? Finally a parenting book that is organized around your baby’s well visits, isn’t written like a text book and meant to calm you down rather than scare you about all the very rare possibilities. Dr. Cliff James is a board certified Pediatrician in private practice for the last 15 years. His goal was to write a book that could both inform and entertain a new parent. With the help of his own baby, Kaden, you get a look at parenting from a pediatrician point of view as well as the mind of a baby/toddler/evil genius. This book covers: *Choosing a pediatrician *Feeding your baby *Pee, Poop, Puke and Snot *Vaccines *What happens in the hospital *Chapters for each well visit *Developmental milestones *Illnesses *Injuries This book is designed to bring a little lightheartedness to parenthood with cartoons, jokes, and plenty of Dr. James’ own disaster stories as a parent. “To often we as pediatricians and parents spend too much time emphasizing how much work it is to be a parent and lose sight of the fact children are hilarious and a great source of joy.”

Book Handbook of Behavior Modification with the Mentally Retarded

Download or read book Handbook of Behavior Modification with the Mentally Retarded written by J. L. Matson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mental retardation has probably existed for as long as mankind has inhabited the earth. References to seemingly retarded persons appear in Greek and Roman literature. Examination of Egyptian mummies suggests that some may have suffered from diseases associated with mental retardation. Mohammed advocated feeding and housing those without reason. There is other evidence for favorable attitudes toward the retarded in early history, but attitudes var ied from age to age and from country to country. The concept of remediation did not emerge until the nineteenth century. Earlier, in 1798, ltard published an account of his attempt to train the "wild boy of Aveyron." A rash of efforts to habilitate retarded persons followed. Training schools were developed in Europe and the United States in the 1800s; however, these early schools did not fulfill their promise, and by the end of the nineteenth century large, inhumane warehouses for retarded persons existed. The notion of habilitation through training had largely been abandoned and was not to reappear until after World War II.

Book The Adolescent Owner s Manual

Download or read book The Adolescent Owner s Manual written by William H. Glover and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2007-07 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do you fix your troubled adolescent? After years of working as an in-home therapist and probation officer, author William Glover grew frustrated with the conventional wisdom that said medication and/or therapy offered the only hope for angry, defiant, unmotivated, ADHD, ADD, oppositional, defiant, drug involved, juvenile court involved, and behaviorally handicapped kids. Based on his work with adolescents and their parents, he became convinced that the solution for the majority of troubled kids resided not with the professionals, but with the parents of these children. With this as a starting point, Glover began developing "The Adolescent Owner's Manual," a unique and effective resource designed to provide parents with the practical, common-sense tools and skills essential to parenting troubled adolescents.
