Book Community Rehabilitation in Neurology

Download or read book Community Rehabilitation in Neurology written by Michael P. Barnes and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-09-04 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rehabilitation should not stop when the disabled person is discharged from hospital, and many neurological patients require ongoing rehabilitation in order to maximize their functional abilities, minimize complications and promote full participation at home and in the community. This book analyses community rehabilitation needs from many different perspectives, including the views of disabled people, rehabilitation clinicians and service providers. Many examples of community rehabilitation schemes are presented, with evidence for their effectiveness, and case studies are used to highlight the main issues. The authors take an international view, and there are chapters dealing with the disabled child in the community and with neuropsychological rehabilitation. This important book examines the growing trend towards community rehabilitation in neurology and is directed towards all clinicians involved with neurorehabilitation.

Book Proceedings of the National Conference on Criminal Justice

Download or read book Proceedings of the National Conference on Criminal Justice written by United States. National Advisory Commission on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a record of the speeches and discussion of the conference that was held to review major standards and recommendations of the National Advisory Commission on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals. This book is a companion to the six volumes of the Commission report, but it is not a statement of the Commission itself. This conference enabled criminal justice practitioners from across the nation to gain an overview of the Commission's work and an understanding of the intent of the Commission in developing its standards and goals. Other recent commissions have studied the causes and debilitating effects of crime in our society. This effort has sought to expand their work and build upon it, developing a clear statement of priorities, goals, and standards to help set a national strategy to reduce crime through the timely and equitable administration of justice; the protection of life, liberty, and property; and the efficient mobilization of resources. The Commission hopes that its standards and recommendations will influence the shape of the criminal justice system in the nation for many years to come. And it believes that adoption of those standards and recommendations will contribute to a measurable reduction of the amount of crime in America.

Book Disabled People and Economic Needs in the Developing World

Download or read book Disabled People and Economic Needs in the Developing World written by Majid Turmusani and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the economic situation of disabled people in developing countries focusing on rehabilitation and uses particpatory framework to community development. Although dealing specifically with a case study from Jordan, this needs assessment study provides comparisons with other developing societies. The author considers the prospect for future improvement in disability policy at a time when state budgets are already over stretched by widespread poverty, unemployment and poor health conditions. The book is divided into three parts. Part one explores disability and economic rehabilitation within global context and sets the scene for understanding what disability is and the impact of having disability across cultures with emphasis on the experience of discrimination. Part two deals with disability theory and practice in Jordan in terms of economic policies and provisions available for disabled people. Part three presents concluding remarks on the rise of disability politics in developing countries and the development of a participatory policy agenda.
