Book Improving the Performance of an Intake Department Through the Adoption of a Standard Operation Procedure

Download or read book Improving the Performance of an Intake Department Through the Adoption of a Standard Operation Procedure written by Yamell M. Alba and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this project is to develop a standard operating (SOP) template that will assist the NYU Child Study Center (NYU CSC) enforce a consistent intake process that will increase productivity, lower cost, improve quality assurance, and enhance the NYU CSC's image and continued growth as one of the mental health leaders in this era. This tool will not only serve as a tool to screen for mental health concerns but it will also provide the clinicians with up-to-date and accurate information prior to the intake process and also reflect an innovative approach to mental health care. A framework based on clinical and clerical feedback was used to develop an intake questionnaire. A series of discussions lead to the identification of weaknesses within the intake process and areas of improvement. Once the proposed questionnaire was developed, it was reviewed by the clinicians and the Intake Coordinator to assess for any HIPAA violations or intrusive questions. Once approved, the intake associate integrated the standard operating procedure template into the interviewing process of the prospective patients for a period of four months. Follow up meetings were conducted to discuss the documents efficiency and recommendations. This document was found to be very useful in guiding a planned approach to the need of the patient and providing valuable information to the clinicians. This project development assignment uses a sound project management methodology to develop a new template that is relevant to the continuing growth of the intake department at The NYU Child Study Center. Book Anxiety Management Training

Download or read book Anxiety Management Training written by Richard M. Suinn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book owes its existence to an ideal, a burning frustration, and a trusted believer. The ideal was the sense that governed my feelings about systematic desensitization during my early introduction to its benefits. It is hard to put into words the initial doubts that pervaded me during my first attempt with desensitization with a seriously phobic client, as I re ligiously worked my way through the procedure: "Will this client really become relaxed? And then what-will the visualization actually occur? And then what-will the fear really vanish, just like that?" And oh, the feeling of discovery, and validation, when indeed the process worked, and worked well. Desensitization was everything it was claimed to be: systematic, clean, theoretically grounded, empirically tested, applicable as a behavioral technology regardless of one's own theoretical bias. And there were testable outcomes; concrete evidence for change. So I became invested and aimed at doing more with desensitization. My students and I raised some theoretical questions in order to open the doors for revising the desensitization to improve on its applications. We tested the rapidity with which desensitization could be accomplished, shortening the time by shortening the anxiety hierarchy. Along with others, we studied the question of group delivery, and reducing the total number of sessions, as well as examining the use of audiotaped delivery of services.
