Book Sport Facility Operations Management

Download or read book Sport Facility Operations Management written by Stacey A. Hall and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2010-05-14 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book to take a truly global look at facilities operations management in the sport industry. Sports facilities management is in the national news with reports from the BBC that three 2012 Olympic venues in London are being evaluated by accountants to see whether they will deliver value for money. The current estimate of government spending on the games is £9.3billion. There is also an ongoing debate about the fate of the 80,000 seat stadium that is being constructed for the games at a cost of £500million. Sport facilities of all shapes and sizes are an ingrained part of global sport management culture. As such, it is inevitable that students who enter into the field of sport management will interact with the management and operations of a sport facility at some point during their career. This textbook provides the theoretical foundation for sport facility operations management, and is supplemented both in the text and in the companion site containing: schematics, planning documents, sample forms, and sample ownership/ management structures. In addition, each author will infuse research and experiences from sport facilities around the world (North America; Europe; Middle East/ Asia; Australia and New Zealand) to ensure that a global perspective is at the core of this book. This book is published with the sport management lecturer and student in mind.

Book Process Plant Lifecycle Information Management

Download or read book Process Plant Lifecycle Information Management written by Robert Yang and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2009-08-11 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Process plants produce products and perform functions through some processes. There are many types of process plants covering a wide spectrum of industries from chemical, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, food, power generation, water and waste water treatment, nuclear, to specialized government plants. From engineering, procurement, construction to operations of process plants, the key elements of lifecycle operations are essentially generation, manipulation, and management of information. In addition to documents that are the traditional way of representing information, the trend now is to emphasis on usage of data, databases, and 3-D models. Efficient plant lifecycle information management has to satisfy three basic requirements of what, when, and how information to be managed. Information integrity that means accuracy and currency is another key element of management consideration. Use of information data warehouse is an effective approach to store and control just one single source of information to be used throughout the plant lifecycle. Plant lifecycle information management is to increase productivity at the project level to reduce capital cost and time to market. At the plant level, the goal is to minimize plant operational expense and to maximize time in market. With proper information and information management, the plant owner/operator now has the tool to optimize operating parameters so both quality and quantity of the plant products can be improved. This book shows the basic principles and approaches of process plant lifecycle information management and how they can be applied to generate substantial cost and time savings. Thus, the readers with their own knowledge and experience in plant design and operations can adapt and implement them into their specific plant lifecycle applications.

Book Computerized Management of Physical Plant Services

Download or read book Computerized Management of Physical Plant Services written by Earl W. Hawkey and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Outlining the major areas to be considered when deciding whether or not to computerize physical plant services in higher education institutions, the author points out the shortcomings of manual record keeping systems. He gives five factors to consider when deciding to computerize: (1) time and money, (2) extent of operation, (3) current and future workload, (4) institutional policy, and (5) the pros and cons involved. In part 1 the options for the physical plant manager to consider in computerizing are presented: the overall system design, the basic hardware decisions, the types of input and retrieval systems, and the software options. The author gives detailed explanations of hardware options and software design (and documentation) to be considered during the decision-making process. In part 2 a modular approach to implementation of sample programs is presented for six specific services of the physical plant department: facility maintenance, groundskeeping, housekeeping, fire safety, vehicle maintenance, and stores inventory. Appendixes list nearly 400 higher education physical plants that are computerized and offer a glossary of technical terms. (MD)
