Book Management Insights from Motivational Slokas

Download or read book Management Insights from Motivational Slokas written by Karanam Nagaraja Rao and published by Educreation Publishing. This book was released on with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In India, the Sanskrit literature is an abundant ocean of knowledge and the more we explore, the more we get. In this book, there are around 108 selected slokas, many of which are from Bhartruhari Niti Sataka, Vidura Niti, Kautilya's Arthasastra, Maha Bharatha, Pancatantra and few others. These slokas are basically for the rulers of the kingdoms and are also known as subhashitas (literal meaning is good words of advice). In olden days these Subhashitas were viewed with great respect. Kautilya opined that Subhashita is on par with other basic requirements like water and food. There are many books in English giving the literary meaning of these subhashitas / slokas. But, in this book, an attempt is made to interpret them from leadership and managerial perspectives. And again for the question, why from ancient wisdom, it is felt that people who want happiness in life are increasingly looking towards spirituality as an alternative to materialistic culture. They need some 'spiritual hooks' or 'skyhooks' to cling upon to justify their decisions. The slokas provide the ground on which spiritual thoughts can propel and proliferate. For those who cannot read Devanagari script, an English version of the sloka in I-Trance format is provided. This book is highly useful for practicing managers, leadership coaches, mentors and the CEOs. Though the title of the book refers managerial insights, the book includes psychological, sociological, and human centric perspectives of the business environment.

Book Debt management insights and tools from selected nations

Download or read book Debt management insights and tools from selected nations written by and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2001 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For four years, the United States has had a budget surplus that has resulted in decreasing debt levels. Debt held by the public fell approximately $453 billion from the end of fiscal year 1997 to the end of fiscal year 2001. Although it appears now that the economy and the challenges of combating terrorism will prompt deficits for the short term, we may again return to surpluses. A number of other nations experienced a cycle of budget deficit and surplus before the United States. GAO examined the experiences of some of these nations looking for insights and lessons learned for the United States. Particular attention was paid to the various techniques used, including the use of "debt buybacks." Five nations were selected--Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom-whose recent approaches and experiences with debt management in times of surplus might have relevance to or provide useful information for the United States. To obtain information on the experiences of these other nations in managing sovereign debt, we interviewed government officials, capital market participants, academics, and others to discuss fiscal and debt management goals, the relationship between budget changes and debt policies and actions, and the nature of the capital markets in these nations.

Book Early Childhood Education Management

Download or read book Early Childhood Education Management written by Mary Moloney and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2016-09-19 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Early Childhood Education sector around the world is constantly changing, whether because of the unprecedented demand for ECE services globally, accelerated social change, or the introduction of pedagogical and regulatory practices. Based upon empirical inquiry, Early Childhood Education Management examines the somewhat controversial concept of operating an early childhood service as a business. It challenges the assumption that an early childhood manager does not require specialist knowledge or skill and discusses which attributes an effective manager should possess. In this book, which brings together management theory and practice, Moloney and Pettersen address core issues at the heart of the management role, including the relationship between early childhood policy and broader legislative enactments, as well as issues related to the challenges and development of management skills. The book also draws upon real-life examples from practice in order to offer insight into some of the most common topics and challenges related to management practice in Early Childhood Education, such as business acumen and entrepreneurship, recruitment and selection, financial management and budgeting, supervision, mentoring, staff development, curriculum management, collaborative working, and change management. Written by leading academics with practice experience, the book should be of great interest to researchers, academics and postgraduate students in the field of education, specifically those working in early years and education policy and management. It should also be essential reading for managers working in Early Childhood settings.

Book Management Consultancy Insights and Real Consultancy Projects

Download or read book Management Consultancy Insights and Real Consultancy Projects written by Graham Manville and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-02 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of management consultancy research has grown rapidly in recent years. Fuelled by the drivers of complexity and uncertainty, a growing number of organizations – both profit and third sector alike – are looking at management consultancy to assist in their aims for development and change. Consultants have become a common feature in organizational change initiatives, involved in both providing advice and in implementing ideas and solutions. However, despite this growing recognition and influence, management consultancy is still often misunderstood or criticized for its lack of theoretical underpinning. The book seeks to address these issues by offering applied theoretical insights from academics that both teach and practice management consultancy. Written by recognized experts in their field, the contributors combine original insights with authoritative analysis. Uniquely, this book identifies emerging themes with critical discourse and provides rich empirical case study evidence to show the reader how management consultancy projects are implemented. Real-world international consultancy projects are featured as written up cases featuring organizations from multi-national corporations to the public sector. Written for graduate level managers or those who have practical leadership experience, this book will enable readers to apply management consultancy models beyond a classroom context

Book Rethinking Management

Download or read book Rethinking Management written by Chris Mowles and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-08 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do business school graduates learn, and how helpful is it for managing in the everyday, messy reality of organisations? What does it mean to apply 'best practice', or to take up 'evidence-based management' and what kind of thinking does this imply? In Rethinking Management, Chris Mowles argues that many management courses still largely assume a linear and predictable world, when experience tells us that the opposite is the case. He questions some of the more orthodox conceptual assumptions that underpin much management education and instead, encourages leaders and managers to take their everyday experience of working with others seriously. People in organisations co-operate and compete to get things done, and constrain and enable each other in relationships of power. Because of this there are always unintended consequences of our actions - uncertainty is inherent in the everyday. Chris Mowles draws on the complexity sciences, the sciences of uncertainty rather than certainty, and the social sciences to explore more helpful ways to think and talk about our lived reality. He takes concrete examples from contemporary organisations, to argue that understanding the radical implications of uncertainty is central to the task of leading. Rethinking Management explores narrative alternatives to the ubiquitous grids and frameworks that are routinely taught in business schools, and encourages management professionals and educators to recognise the importance of judgement, improvisation and the everyday politics of organisational life.

Book excerpt: The rapid global growth of the sport industry has prompted the need for a more commercial approach to the management of sport clubs. This book is the first study of its kind to focus on the management of professional football clubs, providing a real-world insight into management principles and their practical application. The international commercialisation of football has led to a fundamental transformation of the industry’s management practices, given the financial rewards of success and the high price of failure. This book presents a critical examination of this transformation, questioning why clubs are increasingly adopting management strategies from other industries. Each chapter analyses the role played by a key leadership figure within a club, such as the owner, chief executive officer (CEO), chief financial officer (CFO), chief operating officer (COO), director of football (DoF), and head coach. Full of exclusive interviews, case studies and examples of best practice, this book sheds new light on the challenges of working in this extraordinarily high-pressure environment. Football Club Management: Insights from the Field is fascinating reading for all those working in or studying the management, marketing or administration of football.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This fresh and insightful examination of modern leadership and management issues uses the surprisingly relevant stories of King Arthur and Camelot to illustrate the do's and don'ts of achieving success. The many examples of popular movies, television shows, books, comics, and theatrical plays based upon the character of King Arthur or stories of Camelot provide proof of how firmly rooted they are in mainstream culture. Accordingly, King Arthur and Camelot provide a perfect vehicle to communicate important leadership and management concepts that are completely applicable to today's institutions—lessons that the author appropriately terms "Camelot wisdom," as opposed to "conventional wisdom." Camelot, Inc.: Leadership and Management Insights from King Arthur and the Round Table traces Arthur's evolution from awkward youth to compassionate King to tired ruler, explaining how he learned, developed his leadership philosophy, established a vision and mission, created success, communicated, and failed to confront issues, leading to his decline. This unprecedented examination of Arthur's life illuminates many of today's most pressing leadership challenges, including retaining knowledge; developing coherent plans and proposals; building internal and external advocacy; performing effective negotiation, team building, and success planning; maintaining ethical standards, innovation, and flexibility; and moving from vision to execution.
