Book Man without Childhood From Victim to Offender

Download or read book Man without Childhood From Victim to Offender written by Heinz Michael Vilsmeier (EN) and published by epubli. This book was released on 2024-04-29 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Man Without Childhood - From Victim to Offender" is an interview with a pedophilic offender who spent two decades in forensic detention. The text provides insights from both the victim's and offender's perspectives into the commercially organized child abuse in Europe. In a parallel world to civil society, the trafficking of children, the production and distribution of child pornography, and the prostitution of children are a terrifying everyday reality in the midst of Germany. The report illustrates the functioning of organized child abuse and its interconnections with politics, justice, and other societal sectors. The organized abuse of children occurs in all societal spheres. The structures required for this are firmly in the hands of internationally operating organizations, which also find their customers in all societal areas, regardless of social class, educational level, nationality, religion, culture, or ideological orientation. Social ostracism and state penalties result in the potential blackmail of offenders. The masterminds behind organized child abuse use this blackmail vulnerability to influence politics, government administration, justice, or the economy. The conversations with the "key witness" Bonobo took place in the visitors' room of a forensic institution. They had to be terminated when conflicts arose between the informant and the institution. The final encounter happened in a highly secured room with a partition that made it nearly impossible to continue the conversations. Nevertheless, the informant was transferred to another facility without further notice. The interview was conducted on thin ice, especially regarding the Mafia organization that continued to control the informant within the correctional facility and set red lines.

Book Women and Children as Victims and Offenders Background Prevention Reintegration

Download or read book Women and Children as Victims and Offenders Background Prevention Reintegration written by Helmut Kury and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-06-20 with total page 922 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work compiles experiences and lessons learned in meeting the unique needs of women and children regarding crime prevention and criminal justice, in particular the treatment and social reintegration of offenders and serves as a cross-disciplinary work for academic and policy-making analyses and follow-up in developing and developed countries. Furthermore, it argues for a more humane and effective approach to countering delinquency and crime among future generations. In a world where development positively depends on the rule of law and the related investment security, two global trends may chart the course of development: urbanization and education. Urbanization will globalize the concepts of “justice” and “fairness”; education will be dominated by the urban mindset and digital service economy, just as a culture of lawfulness will. This work looks at crime prevention education as an investment in the sustainable quality of life of succeeding generations, and at those who pursue such crime prevention as the providers of much-needed skills in the educational portfolio. Adopting a reformist approach, this work collects articles with findings and recommendations that may be relevant to domestic and international policymaking, including the United Nations Studies and their educational value for the welfare of coming generations. The books address the relevant United Nations ideas by combining them with academic approaches. Guided by the Editors’ respective fields of expertise, and in full recognition of academic freedom and “organized scepticism”, it includes contributions by lawyers, criminologists, sociologists and other eminent experts seeking to bridge the gap between academic and policy perspectives, as appropriate, against the international background, including the United Nations developments. The second volume opens with Part IV, which presents articles on different kinds of crime prevention. The effectiveness of punishment and, in particular, imprisonment is examined by contrasting it with alternative sanctions and the following questions are raised: Does harsh punishment have a crime preventive effect? What are the side effects of imprisonment on the offenders and their families? Are alternatives, such as restorative justice or mediation, more effective and cheaper? Part V outlines proactive strategies of crime prevention, e.g. for potential sex offenders or in the domain of internet crime. Part VI envisions a more peaceful and inclusive society, which would be realized by improving the protection of women and children in their everyday life, and easing the reintegration of those who have become offenders. The importance of the role played by the UN in formulating these goals is underlined. The volume concludes with an epilogue of the 70th President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, Martin Sajdik, and a post scriptum of the editors. p>

Book From Victim to Offender

Download or read book From Victim to Offender written by Freda Briggs and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-08-26 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tom was the only adult who gave me the attention and affection that I so badly needed. I loved his caresses and the times he comforted me. I loved talking to him because he was the only adult who listened and understood. - Neil's Story From Victim to Offender shows how victims of child sexual abuse become juvenile and adult offenders. The stories told by these offenders reveal the vulnerability of boys to paedophiles and pederasts who provide the male attention lacking in some children's home lives. They show how early sexualisation damages children's sexual development, their relationships and their adult lives. The story of a female offender reveals that this problem is not confined to boys. These stories highlight the inadequacy of current child protection programs for the protection of boys. The editor's introduction and the chapter from a psychologist who specialises in the treatment of offenders emphasise the need to improve child protection and treatment programs for offenders. From Victim to Offender offers unique insights into the experiences of victims and offenders of sexual abuse, and is essential reading for professionals who are concerned about child protection and those responsible for the rehabilitation of offenders.

Download or read book Victims in the War on Crime written by Markus Dirk Dubber and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two phenomena have shaped American criminal law for the past thirty years: the war on crime and the victims' rights movement. As incapacitation has replaced rehabilitation as the dominant ideology of punishment, reflecting a shift from an identification with defendants to an identification with victims, the war on crime has victimized offenders and victims alike. What we need instead, Dubber argues, is a system which adequately recognizes both victims and defendants as persons. Victims in the War on Crime is the first book to provide a critical analysis of the role of victims in the criminal justice system as a whole. It also breaks new ground in focusing not only on the victims of crime, but also on those of the war on victimless crime. After first offering an original critique of the American penal system in the age of the crime war, Dubber undertakes an incisive comparative reading of American criminal law and the law of crime victim compensation, culminating in a wide-ranging revision that takes victims seriously, and offenders as well. Dubber here salvages the project of vindicating victims' rights for its own sake, rather than as a weapon in the war against criminals. Uncovering the legitimate core of the victims' rights movement from underneath existing layers of bellicose rhetoric, he demonstrates how victims' rights can help us build a system of American criminal justice after the frenzy of the war on crime has died down.

Book No Matter Our Wreckage

Download or read book No Matter Our Wreckage written by Gemma Carey and published by Allen & Unwin. This book was released on 2020-09-01 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My mother knew I was abused as a child. She had read letters sent from my abuser to me...But she never spoke to me about them, or what they described. And she never intervened to stop the abuse...Now she is dying and the past is rising to the surface like a bruise. When Gemma Carey was twelve years old, a man twice her age would sneak into her bedroom on a weekly basis and sexually assault her. When Gemma was seventeen, she took the perpetrator to court without anyone else knowing and had him placed on the child sex offenders register. When she was thirty-three, her mother died of cancer. For twenty years, her mother had known about this man. But why had she not acted to protect her daughter? Could the genesis of this betrayal be found in her own family history? No Matter Our Wreckage is the story of past and present colliding. It seeks to capture the complexity of forces which lead to abuse; to understand the intertwined narratives of mothers and daughters and how trauma becomes encoded in our DNA through generations. It explores grooming and the intricacies of consent, and how as a society we have not yet figured out how to deal with these types of crimes or the people who commit them. No Matter Our Wreckage is a powerful, poetic and unflinching memoir about what it means not to matter, and how an extraordinary woman refused to listen to the stories she was being told about herself - by her history, by her abuser, by her mother, by society. It is only by speaking out that Gemma Carey learns she can break free from her past and reclaim her life, her self and her future. 'No Matter Our Wreckage is a brutal reminder of our responsibility to notice and protect those we love. A devastating and clear-eyed memoir with a poet's voice. Gemma Carey will boil your blood and break your heart.' - Anna Spargo-Ryan, author of The Gulf
